A friend and I stayed at Goleta for 8 nights just recently. Upon arrival at the hotel (at 4.30pm) we were told quite rudely that our room was not ready... and others had been waiting since early morning for their rooms and to come back in an hour, which after a long day of travel is not what you want to hear (not a one off incident either, saw this most mornings). After an hour or so we came back and checked in to be told we had to pay 100% upfront which we didn't believe was part of our booking. The room itself was quite basic (no kettle and you need to rent a key for the safe) but was quite adequate for what we needed. We had a nice view of the pool areas and the ocean from the balcony. Breakfast was well worth it at the hotel, however finishes early which is odd considering the nature of the island (many late nights!) The location of the hotel was actually not too bad from what we first thought, not being further along den bossa means its not overrun with young idiots and the bus stop right out front was handy for heading into town. One last memorable issue with the hotel was when they ruined some of my friends clothes in the washing and then tried to cover it up by throwing out a t-shirt and saying it was never handed in, took us a while to finally get the manager who sort of helped.
