Grand Hotel Villa dei Papi - มารีโน

Spent a night here in March ahead of the high season after a day of touring the Castelli Romani. Hotel sits on a small hill above the lake, but lake view is partially obscured by intervening buildings. The only rooms which would have unobstructed sight lines are on the lake side on the upper floors (3rd and 4th). Ours was on the opposite, pool side, […] so it didn't matter. Pool was empty and hotel restaurant still closed at this time of year. Marino and other lake towns (e.g. Castelgondolfo) are all a short drive away. Room entirely satisfactory -- clean, well furnished, up-to-date bathroom a little narrow with small shower stall. Generous tray for breakfast in the room with traditional continental items, plus boiled eggs, ham, and cheese. Good choice for exurban Rome. This hotel was lovely and the staff were very helpful and fortunately for us their English was excellent. The setting just above Lake Albano was beautiful, but you may be better off with a car as its a long walk down hill in either direction ie: to the station at Marino or to the lake. I've stayed at many hotels in Italy and this one is not great. The pool was closed and not slated to open until July (it was June). The room was poorly laid out and had a tiny bathroom, no balcony to enjoy the view. The hotel gym consisted of 3 workout machines. The hotel was empty and yet we had to pay extra for a view of the lake which they don't […] tell you until you arrive. The breakfast was okay, but not great (compared to other Italian hotels). As you first arrive, it presents itself very nicely from the entrance all the way into the hotel. The staff are very, very friendly and accommodating and did everything they could to make us feel very welcome and helped out in any way they could. I was extremely pleased to see the size of the rooms and the cleanliness of the entire hotel and surrounding […] area. They obviously take great pride in the upkeep and presentation. The view is incredible overlooking a large lake and getting a panoramic view of the surrounding area. There was nothing I didn't like about the place. The only reason I marked it down slightly for convenience of hotel is that it is not quite in the heart of things for food, etc. It's a very close walk to get to places (1-2 miles), and I enjoy that myself. You can always take a taxi, but it was in the sixties that day, so I was definitely going to walk. They have great fresh food for breakfast (ham, cheese, bread, etc) and that was a great extra especially with an already affordable room and a great staff. A definite recommend to anyone visiting or transiting the area. There is a train station within 15 minutes by taxi, and then it's only 2 stops to the heart of Rome, so you can be as busy as you want during the day and relax at night away from the crowds. Wow, what a great view of Lake Albano, but you have to know to ask for one! Overall, a great place, but probably even better during the high season. I visited after it and found things a trifle quiet, the restaurant closed, and diminished services. Still, a lovely, well-maintained modern property. Why quibble?

Villa dei Papi palveli erittäin hyvin meidän tarpeitamme, halusimme mukavan rauhallisen hotellin Rooman ulkopuolelta. Huoneestamme oli hieno näkymä Albanojärvelle. Huone oli iso ja siisti, siellä käytiin siivoamassa joka päivä. Aamiainen oli monipuolinen ja sitä oli riittävästi. Henkilökunta hotellissa oli ystävällistä ja asiantuntevaa. Hotellista on […] reilun puolen tunnin kävelymatka Marinon rautatieasemalle, josta menee juna Roomaan n. tunnin välein, samoin takaisinpäin. Junat eivät tosin Italiassakaan ole aina aikataulussa. Me kävimme lähes joka päivä Roomassa junalla, Terminin pääasemalta on kätevät metroyhteydet kaikkialle. Teiden varsilla ei ole jalkakäytäviä, reunassa on vain pieni kaistale jalankulkijoille.Pimeään aikaan katuvaloja ei ole läheskään joka paikassa, taskulampusta on paljon apua. Jos et ole tottunut kävelemään, tänne kannattaa ottaa vuokra-auto. Takseja Marinossa ei näy, se täytyy aina tilata jostain. Hotel di buona fattura nel complesso unica nota un po stonata è relativa al bagno in camera:un po piccolino(la doccia sopratutto) molto rumoroso sia nell'uso dei servizi che nella ventola (di notte è un particolare antipatico mentre si riposa.)

Hotellet har behov av renovering. Vi fick ett olidligt varmt rum och AC:n fick inte startas. Dock mycket trevlig och tillmötesgående personal i receptionen. Hotellet kan inte rekommenderas för personer utan bil . Det är långt till pendeln och ingen trevlig promenadväg.

Environs tres agréables et reposant, anciens volcans,lacs, C'est un lieu tres bien pour visiter rome qui est tres rapidement atteint, mais voiture indispensable. Chambres spacieuses mais literie de tres mauvaise qualité. Des bruits de plomberies et ventilations à la limite du supportable. Sinon le reste est bien. Great value for this excellent standard in a nice area outside Rome. Only drawback is thay for dining, you need to go to Marino.

Der er en fantastisk udsigt, da hotellet ligger på en gammel vulkan. Alt var perfekt ,men man skal være klar over, at italienere spiser kage og ikke brød til morgenmad :D
