We had a very satisfactory stay at Hotel PJ. Some highlights: the room was very clean, the staff was helpful and polite, the breakfast buffet included in the cost of the room was very good. The location and room for a great price. If you can get breakfast included, it is awesome. Paying for the breakfast buffet separately is super pricey, but you get one of the best breakfasts around for big eaters.

The hotel and staff are super. Our room was clean and had all the amenities. I wanted a bathtub, rather than just a shower. The tub was great for a long and relaxing soak. Stayed at the PJ while in Seoul and this hotel and its location worked great for us (2 late 20s Canadians, 1 male 1 female). 5 minute walk to 4 metro lines, very convenient. Also close to a huge selection of eateries, some open for 24 hours. Will highly recommend!

Pretty good english! No problems at all. What i did not like is the location. The hotel is surrounded by factory-shops and nothing much touristy. Need to walk about 1km to find the nice places!

The free shuttle bus can get you to the nearby shopping and dinning area which is very convenient. The family room with one double bed and one single bed allow us to check in 2 adults and 2 small kids easily.

This was a great hotel, with a beautiful room. The only down side was it was a bit hard to find from the train, especially since I don't know Korean. The hotel is a bit off the main street, about a ten minute walk from the train. Not bad, but not great. But the hotel itself was fantastic.

We stopped in Seoul for three nights on the way back from a trip in New Zealand. Had low expectations, but were positively surprised. Excellent willing to serve and help with anything. Their English is mediocre to say the least. Hotel is located in a very good spot of Seoul.

We stayed here because it had 3 single beds (triple room). Most of the hotels do not have triple rooms (3 beds). This was the only hotel in center of seoul with 3 single beds with reasonable pricing. Overall experience was pleasant. I would stay here again. The dark alley is not horrible. It's only 5 mins walk and close to subways. We walked to meong-dong […] from hotel at night. The walk was about 15 mins. No need to be afraid of the "dark alley" - people will not bother you. The surrounding area is indeed kinda dirty. If surrounding area was clean, I would have gave 5 rating. Think of it as just experiencing different areas. Not all areas of seoul is clean - just people living. The hotel was well located with great facilities for a family on holiday. The price through hotels.com was fantastic and considerably better than the phone direct/rack rate. I'd strongly recommend PJs to other travellers.

Nice, clean, affordable hotel without unnecessary facilities such as a pool and gym, allowing the price to be lower than other hotels with these facilities. Just a couple of minutes on foot to the subway and airport bus. Very central and convenient.

By many reviewers described as a hidden gem, I can only agree with this statement and say that I've thoroughly enjoyed my stay at PJ. Airport limousine bus $10 dropped us off at Chungmuro Station (The subway trains are fantastically easy to navigate). Bus driver pointed us in the direction to walk. Was prepared to walk long alley in business district area based off other reviews. We walked straight to the street's end and did not know whether to go right or left. A business store […] owner drew a simple map showing we needed to go 15-20 steps to the right then left again to continue straight - which brought us to the real covered alley which led straight to the hotel. Later we learned that it is a straight block (covered alley) to Chungmuro station, we just went to the left of the Kia car dealership versus the right. Staff was very pleasant, spoke basic English, and hotel was exceptionally clean. We were the only Americans there that I noticed during our 8-day stay. Most guest were Asian descent mostly from Japan. The shuttles were great - took us to Chungmuro station quickly if we were too lazy to walk 1.5 blocks ourselves. Shuttles went to Myeondong Station, Namdaeum Market (Shinsegye Dept Store), LOTTE Dept Store and Dongdaemun Market. Often, we walked straight to the markets. We walked to the N. Seoul Tower which is straight up from Shinsegye on our own and made a day of it by eating lunch there. Ate at hotel twice. We ate from local restaurants&street vendors using their pictures and/or English. We speak no Korean and did great! Not sure how much English was understood at the front desk as my son speaks Korean and did all the talking. Good buffet breakfast for 22,000 WON ($21 US). Decent hotel with helpful staff. Free wifi in the room was nice, and the breakfast spread was very generous (although it contained a lot of things I would consider more lunch items, but that was typical for all the hotels I've been at in Korea). Hotel is very nice but location is somewhat in the middle of slightly rundown area. Very good courtesy shuttle bus sending you to interested shopping points up to 02:00 A.M. . Airport pick up/drop off bus station and subway are quite close. Good staffs. Fairly good restaurants around in 5 minute walk.

The room and bathroom looked really clean, but one night a cockroach ran under the bed. When I looked under the bed, I found a piece of a condom wrapper. Both things were quite disgusting. The hotel is very nice, the staff were polite. The location is close to shopping, taxi will cost less then $3-4 to Myeongdong, and the near by street markets. FYI take ride the silver or orange taxi's, they're the cheapest. The hotel shuttle to these area's were convenient, it will also stop at the bus stop so you can catch the airport bus. Lots of […] restaurants around the hotel that are real cheap and good. The only downfall about this hotel is the neighborhood it's in. I loved the location of the hotel, it was very convenient to take the subway, a cab, or the shopping shuttle. Finding food was easy in Korea, there were 2 places I ate nearby, both excellent. Only wish the front staff were friendlier.

Great Hotel, have stayed here twice. Great location, close to metro and easy to get to from the airport. If you are going to Seoul for the first time I would strongly suggest you stay here as it is close transport and close to other busy areas of Seoul.

It is nice hotel. It is near shopping area (Ming Dong) and local market (NAM DAE MUN MARKET). The room is new, very clean and big. I think they have been reconditioned.

Hotel PJ is very close to the green line (transfers to both orange and blue lines there too, I believe), traditional Korean restaurants and beer halls, and within walking distance to Myeong-Dong, Namdemun and Dongdemun Markets. The room we were in could have used an update and new paint, but it was comfortable. We had the triple room (three single beds) and there was a little work area there as well. Very nice toiletries and tea/coffee in the room. Staff was willing to help, but there were no fluent English speakers when we asked about the movie theater or late check out. I would recommend the hotel to a friend if it was a good price - but probably not at the price we paid for the room. Line up at the check-in counter was a bit confusing and unorganized. When I approached the counter after seeing a couple walk away, I was reprimanded very curtly that it was not my turn and that I needed to wait. If there was a proper line up area I would have been less anxious as there was a lady who kept pacing and trying to fit herself into the counter […] to speak with someone (I'm guessing to check-in). Other than the rude service at the check-in counter everything else was smooth sailing. The room was great, very large for me and my friend. The washroom was well equipped, comfortable, and large. The bidet was intimidating so I didn't try it, but enjoyed the toilet seat warmer (hilarious but ingenious!). There was a refrigerator in the wall unit that pleasantly surprised us. I liked that there were two desk areas with mirrors. And the balcony was great as well and not noisy. I did smell a little cigarette smoke but I don't think that could be helped, it was not pungent enough to complain and change rooms. The bellhops and elevator people (I felt like they were there to press the elevator button, haha) were friendly and kept thinking I was Japanese (I'm Canadian, parents are Korean). When I needed to speak in English, I was quickly assisted by someone who was able to communicate with me. The shuttle bus was free and the driver was so kind and happy to assist. The location was a little hard to find at first but once we knew where it was, taking the shuttle bus to the shopping districts were a breeze and finding our way back by subway or taxi was easy as well. There were tons of places to eat by the hotel by walking about two blocks. But I felt Seoul was full of places to eat. I would definitely stay at the Hotel PJ again and just pack extra patience when checking in next time, maybe the lady was just having a bad day. Hotel PJ is a fine budget hotel, and if you are a deep deep sleeper, and have no problems listening to your neighbours talking or laughing until 1 am, 2 am, or hearing drunk people in the corridors at 4 am, If on the other hand, you are sensitive to noise, then STAY AWAY !
