Horwood House - Milton Keynes

The hotel is has great grounds and is great for walking round, the hotel is a little out of the way but we were there for an event at the hotel so not a problem apart from the prices of the drinks, a little on the expensive side which was a shame. The rooms are a fair distance from the main area but it didn't bother us. What let this hotel down most […] of all are the beds and the thin walls. The bed in our room (standard) was way too small and so was the room, Not much room to move about.(i'm 5ft 9inch). You could also hear every thing outside the room and next door. Stayed at the hotel for a wedding, and while the location is stunning, the staff and service are far from satisfactory. The Room KeyCard system is only a small step up from using a plastic key! My keycard refused to work when trying to enter my room - it then took a member of staff 20minutes to solve the problem, and even then they were unable to actually […] explain why it didn't work. Breakfast was over priced and served in a sauna like environment. When checking out, the rude girl on reception insisted that the room had not been paid for, despite the fact i had printed confirmation in my hand! Only when i challenged and mentioned speaking to her manager, did she 'recheck' the system and find that I had indeed paid for the room! Im not happy about my stay here, the room was very uncomfortable/tiny, some heating pipe noise all night long, bathroom extraction fan was noisey and went all night (central extract unit, not single point fan), tv only had 3 channels (BBC 1 BBC2 ITV), room was a mission to get to from the reception and resturant. I am often quite critical when staying elsewhere but i was pleasantly surprised about Horwood House. The experience at Horwood House was beyond my expectations. The staff were very helpful. Initially, i was sceptical after reading the few negative reviews you normally see on the site but i cant really find fault with an amazing setting to relax for […] the weekend. The location was an issue for me at first, as it was not in the centre and close to the amenities, but waking up each morning to the clear blue skys (yes this is england, maybe its a freak of nature) and with the tranquility of the countryside rolling over the hills was fantastic it really sets you up for the day. I have stayed quite a few nights in the past weeks and it seemed on every occassion that the internet access was affected. You could log on to the free session which was advertised as being slower and meant logging back on every 30 minutes- not a big deal really but annoying at the time! A nice hotel, very good value and would have been great except that the bed (room 426) was terrible! Very saggy, springs making noises as we moved in the night. We did complain and hopefully it has been changed now, but the rest of the stay was very good indeed and bed issues aside is recommended.

Very nice hotel in lovely surroundings. Did not eat there but the menu looked very nice

Reall enjoyed a one night stay, Staff really helpful and food was excellent. The only problem was I was charged twice for my room, but after a qiuck phone call the follwing day they agreed to refund the overcharge.

I expected a frugal experience for the cost, myself and three friends arrived to a beautiful tree-lined drive, a stunning entrance courtyard and the most wonderful welcome. The staff although very busy with an glut of Foo fans we exceptional, polite, helpful and 'clued up' as to what services they should run. An awesome taxi drop off and collection […] service that ran like clockwork and the cherry on the cake was a beer and hogroast after the consert back in the bar, allowing us to unwind. Hotel is on a beautiful location, nice and quiet surroundings. The only problem were the other guests (of wedding party), completely lack of respect to other people shouting in the middle of the night on the corridors and in the rooms. The hotel should envisage to put these kind of guests in a separate wing (there is plenty of space).

Very surprising hotel a real find. Good facilities, excellent grounds. Intend to stay again which is recommendation in its self. Reception area could do with a make over, rather dull and dark.

É um bom hotel para relaxar no campo. Bom atendimento de recepção, quarto amplo e limpo, o silêncio nocturno é impecável. O staf é simpático e prestável.
