Be careful which rooms you get. I got a room. Rooms were not ready until after 3pm. I had room 507 and the view was awful. There were speakers immediately outside and no view around them. Nice hotel room. Absolutely terrible internet service. Dropped signal every 60 seconds or so. Could get ABSOLUTELY no work done on a biz trip and the staff couldnt care less. No concessions, no apologies, no solutions. Deal with it was the response. For $300/nite, WIFI should be available on the moon. This is 2013!!!

Overall The Hard Rock is the trendiest, liveliest well kept and most modern hotel I've stayed in since my travels in the US. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by polite, attentive staff who catered to our every request, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a ultra modern and lively hotel upon their visit to San Diego.

The hotel is very nice and has every modern comfort you could ask for, but the service is slow and less than helpful. I called ahead on my way to the hotel from the airport and asked to make sure that my room had hypo-allergenic bedding and they told me that they would have enough time to guarantee that (even though I was over an hour away). The hotel and rooms are gorgeous and comfortable. The staff at check-in was friendly and courteous. The problem is if you aren't ready to stay up all night partying you should stay someplace else. I got the worst room in the place. Next to the elevator and right over the entrance to the hotel and next door bar. NOISE NOISE NOISE all night long until about 3am. It was terrible. Nice place but they gave me one of the worst locations in the place. Not happy and Won't be back.

The hotel was in a great location in the Gas lamp district. Staff were great from check in to departure. Room was beautiful and clean.

Just know that when you stay at a Hard Rock Hotel, it is a party atmosphere so expect noise, noise from outside at the pool as well as from rooms near you. We enjoyed the Rock and Roll nightclub vibe of the hotel. My wife and I wanted to let loose and the suite was big and spacious enough for that. Our room had a bar/lounge area that felt like a club. The bed was very comfy, though we didn't sleep much! Dozens of restaurants bars, and nightclubs are extremely close by. It was a Saturday night and the Hotel […] gives you passes to get into their Bar/Nightclub before 10 so you can get your hand stamped and come back later or just stay if you wish. We never made it though! The furniture and shower are funky but of good quality. We called the front desk for help with our tv and it took about 30 minutes because they were very busy. Overall this is a pretty good hotel and the location is even better. The only thing for me is that the shower was not working properly. The hot water would not get hot past a luke warm feeling. The lights in the bathroom were not bright enough and were flickering from time to time.

Great location in the Gaslamp Quarter and right in front of convention center, cool design and original concept. Service is expected to be upscale, like the hotel, and its not (front desk). Didnt get any Elite Plus member perks.

It was okay, but definitely not worth the money. It was pretty clean, very convenient, and the mini bar rocked. But it just wasn't really all that "great". It had a rather bizarre atmosphere, or at least one that I wasn't really into. I don't know, just wasn't that impressed.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hard Rock, and danced the night away at Club 207, which is inside the Hard Rock. It happened to be "industry night", so it didn't get rockin' until about 10:30-11pm. Only downside was no personal coffee makers in the room.

Best part about the hotel is location: close to the convention center, and right on the edge of the gaslamp district. Decor is modern but comfortable. Room is big, with a kind of weird set up in that the bathroom and shower are on opposite sides of the room, sink in between, and all of it separates the "bedroom" from the living area. Well, it's the Hard Rock, so I suppose some of the things we didn't like about this hotel should have been expected: loud music in the hallways and lobby, black and red with chrome decor, dark lighting, etc. But having very poor lighting in the room and the "open concept" bathroom was uncomfortable, and we felt like we couldn't really see ourselves. […] The room is so poorly lit that you're always getting ready in twilight like conditions. The service was mediocre, and there was never more than one girl at the desk, which meant there was a line for check-in, a line for check-out, and no way to stop by and ask a quick question. The concierge desk was occasionally manned, but honestly, the entire staff was made up of twenty-somethings in black; needless to say, we didn't feel attended to at all, and for the price of the hotel, expected more. There were two bright spots: the group of young men that greet you at the curb, help you with your luggage, and get you a cab. They were charming and helpful. And the young man managing the in-house restaurant. He was friendly and attentive. Newly modeled rooms and hotel. I loved the decoration of my room and the hotel. Everything was excellent, stylish, and energetic. Perhaps more suitable for younger people, rather than families.

Booked the King Studio, which is really a studio. The room was so small we could barely get around and the view was terrible (the parking lot). Took 45 minutes to get an upgrade (had to pay for it). Initially, we were given keys to a room that did not unlock the door so we had to return to the lobby to speak to the hotel rep who gave us the keys. She apologized and said she just wrote down the wrong room number - Inconvenience #1. Once settled in our room, we determined that the tv was not working properly. We waited approx 30 min for a service […] guy to troubleshoot our tv problem. He told us he could not fix it and offered a voucher for a couple of drinks so we could watch the tv in the hotel coffee shop. We told him we would work something out with the hotel rep in the lobby. We were then told that we needed to change rooms so we packed up our stuff and moved down the hall - Inconvenience #2 (we were offered a free movie for the inconvenience.) While not the hotel's fault, I found it extremely difficult to sleep throughout the night due to the noise from the railroad tracks below, i.e. warning bells ringing throughout the night.
