Castle Halii Kai at Waikoloa - ไวโคเลา

We are only a few days into our stay, but do not be fooled by the Overview of the property. While the first three words are :"On the beach", the closest beach is down the road at the Marriott. There is no beach access from this property. Furthermore, if you smoke then this isn't a place for you. While I would never condone smoking in the room, they […] do not allow you to smoke on your patio either. There aren't any signs saying so and it isn't on the Overview, but the permanent guests will be quick to tell you. They have designated smoking areas which I would never allow my wife to walk to at night should she wish to smoke and are rather inconvenient at any time.. This isn't part of the Overview which to many people is a big deal. Lastly, the office closes at 8pm and the restaurant and bar close shortly after. That is slightly inconvenient. Otherwise, this is a regular condo and if you want to stay at a quiet community then have at it. The rooms are clean and it has plenty of room. If you want a place with some life where you can walk out the beach and not be besieged by the permanent residents about smoking while outside then I would suggest another property. อ่านเพิ่มเติม

It is a great location and the pool is great but we were a little disappointed in how the rooms were not very clean and they dont offer a maid service, they just bring you clean towels once a week. After paying that kind of price and resort fee on top we felt they could have cleaned it better!

Resort was OK overall for the high price tag-The unit 7G had poor carpet cleaning and was a little dirty. The real issue with the resort is that if you expect people to hand over 500-600$ a night for a 3 bedroom apartment-you better give them a good time. The pool area is small and unfriendly to kids. They can't bring in inflatable toys, they cant go […] in the hottub (attendant told me there is a LAW that children under 6 can't go into the hottub even with a parent, which is not true) and there are not enough loungers and NO umbrellas. The condition of the condo was pleasing when we arrived. The cleaning service was basic, twice during a 2 week stay the towels where changed in bathrooms and kitchen. Unit 17C is old and dark!!! It needs renovation badly and all new furniture. The owner knows this but does not want to spend the money to do so. The pool was great, but based on the rate we were paying i felt as though it wasn't great value. The condo was supposed be a premium but it felt small and slightly dated. This is a beautiful facility, however it is too far away from most facilities. We would not stay here again because of that and the fact that we like to do more sightseeing. I got a very comfortable 2bd. Condo on 2nd fl. The only downside is that there is no maid service!! When I go on vacation I don't want to make my own room.. But when you are traveling it's nice to be able to cook once in awhile. The kitchen was well stocked and the appliances were modern and new.

The hotel is not really a hotel. There is no daily housekeeping services offered therefore no one will come to empty out the trash, replace dirty towels/linens, make the bed. It is more of a timeshare community and one rents from an individual who owns the unit. The unit decor is outdated in the unit at which we stayed and has a unique sense of style […] that it didn't feel comfortable and I didn't feel at home. The couch was covered in stains and I had to request a sheet to be brought to cover the couch. The actual facility is located a great distance from many restaurants and attractions so be sure to get a car rental if staying here. The brochure noted a continental breakfast however no such thing exists and when we inquired they said that they forgot to remove it from the brochure. Overall, I would not come back. The community is meant for possibly older adults or individuals who are happy lounging at one pool during their stay in Hawaii not for the explorers and individuals who crave adventure. Great facility, beautiful grounds. Only resteraunt and bar on the property closes at 6pm every night. Would have been nice to have somewhere to unwind at night without getting behind the wheel of a car.

This condo resort community is beautiful! Unit 17c is so beautifully decorated and is within a hop skip jump of the gorgeous pool, gym and poolside restaurant/bar. Great place for families or couples looking for quiet relaxing spot. Public beaches short drive and tons of shopping, golf and food options within walking distance. Highly recommend it!

The staff at check in seemed a bit disinterested, but new who I was on check-out. No real complaints, though when we arrived, the dishwasher was full of dishes (clean).

It was a comfortable place to stay with the family. Was a quite environment and I really enjoyed the pool view. The housekeeper that was cleaning our condo before we got there, was extra, super helpful and friendly , well done mrs ! We had a lovely time and we will definately come back.

the property wasn't easy to find. when we called to get direction, the one who was given directions to us needed to hung up on us saying there was only one person (her) working right now. it was just a condominium for retired people than a hotel, the whole entry gate system and such were very cumbersome. not for everybody for sure.

Great Hotel, very nice and well maintained rooms, perfect landscape, best sunset at the pool. Very good bar/restaurant - overall very nice and helpful staff. Unfortunately only one room cleaning per week.

This isn't a hotel, but a gated condo resort. It's a very good base for a family to explore the north west side of the island. Just make sure to fly into the Kona Airport or else you will have a two hour drive from the Hilo Airport. It was a great room for the price. The Hilton village next door was just a much per night. But here we got two separate rooms, a master bath, washer & dryer, full kitchen and a living room.

We loved this location, the apartment was very large for 2 people, and well maintained. Facilities were abundant. The pool area is a little smaller than some of the neighbouring resorts but still very nice and relaxing with great views of those Hawaiian sunsets. Love this property it is gorgeous and they maintain it beautifully. The pool sits right on the ocean gorgeous sunsets. The food is also excellent Chef Darcy does a great job. We arrived to receive our hotel rules which included that our kids could not play in the common areas unsupervised. Really, we went to Hawaii for family vacation so my kids could be shut in. At the pool, a grumpy guy they dubbed Mean Bill, yelled at the kids for playing at the pool. Certainly we didn't take our kids on vacation so they could play at […] the pool. My wife and I stayed in a 2 bedroom / 2 bath unit towards the back of the property. The resort was nicely landscaped, in a location with great weather, and a pool / workout facility that was fantastic. The restaurant and staff were also great. However, the accommodations were extremely disappointing. The biggest drivers of our poor experience were: 1 […] - extremely run down unit 2 - pots/pans that were peeling significantly 3 - ice/water dispenser that was crusted over with some type of grey and white scum 4 - master bath with very dirty accessories 5 - spotty/no wi-fi 6 - very dirty/worn carpets 7 - extremely cheap/worn master bed and linens 8 - sub-par amenities (tiny and thin bathroom towels, 1 ply tp, limited patio furniture, no grill) When I compare this unit at Hali'i Kai to those of comparable resorts (by price, age, rating, etc) we have stayed at in Maui and Kauai, it's not even remotely close in quality and cleanliness. In summary, if you are interested in staying at this resort, I would recommend using VRBO or a similar website where you can review actual unit pictures and determine exactly which unit you will be in and what the floor plan is. Going through Expedia / Castle is too much of a gamble especially if this is going to be a significant vacation for you. Wow! Amazing place, great value and service. Super central location. Take your reef shoes and take the 30 minute walk to the black sand beach. Well worth the effort.

The guest house staff could be friendlier. When we arrived they had refreshments available that were never offered to us nor were we asked if we needed anything. They assumed everything had gone well and never asked if we were satisfied or would come back. No sand beach within walking distance. Rooms only cleaned once (poorly) in one week. No shade near swimming pool. Reasonable shopping at nearby Queens and Kings centers. Superb swimming beach at Hapuina about 15 minutes away by car. Some good restaurants locally.

We stayed in a truly beautiful unit. However it is important to be aware that the units are individually owned and vary accordingly. The front office staff member was extremely unhelpful. You're made to feel unimportant and a hindrance to the resort as you are a guest and not an owner despite paying substantial fees to rent the accomodation.They insist […] you sign for additional cleaning fees if anything is left in a way they don't like. It is also important to know that the resort will not let you take towels from the pool to use on a beach or out of the pool area. So if your condo owner has not left beach towels, for your disposal, you have none and the resort will not help in any way. The pool area is well placed and we saw whales from there. South Kahala seems to exist purely for tourists and does not have the same feel as the rest of the island. You may as well be in a townhouse or condo anywhere in the USA. Wonderful for families. Beautiful location, lots of space so we never felt on top of each other. The unit had everything we needed. The clubhouse/restaurant/workout room and pool area are gorgeous. We saw many whales breaching in the distance most days. Hope to return.

We booked a 2 BR/2Bath Condo for a family of 4 adults, 1 four year old and an infant. They gave us a 3 BR instead which turned out to be great. Very courteous staff, had a problem with the over the counter microwave and they immediately gave a counter microwave. Excellent condo, great view of the ocean and golf course. only complaint is that their couches […] were not clean. They had some stains. Tip, if you need groceries, get them from Foodland. This is right next to the Hilton, but the privacy of a community with great views and a very spacious and well appointed accommodation. Good security, close to shops and driving distance to Kohala or Kailua. Room has complimentary towels, boogie boards, beach toys and more for the kids.

Not very centrally located, so we had to drive a lot to get to sight seeing places, but it is a big island and there was just the two of us, so no big deal. The resort is beautiful; our condo was very nice and the view of the grounds was very pretty. We did not have a few of the ocean, but just had to go to the pool and restaurant area for that.
