This place is great, clean, near to everything.

Overall the Hotel is very nice and pleasant. They only offer twin bed that is rather small. A few times, I almost fell off the bed in my sleep.

The Mercure was a good choice for our short stay in Shanghai. The room was very good, clean with a great bed. We had a meal and the buffet breakfast which were both good. The hotel staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful. Would certainly stay there again. Very close to the Shanghai Railway Station for trips to Suzhou and Hangzhou. The metro […] was very handy and made the rest of Shanghai very accessible, but taxis are cheap and we ended up using them to get around. Great Hotel, The reception decor is very good, and the rooms where even better we were on floor 23 and had an amazing view of shanghai from our shower room. The rooms were comfortable and cosy. Shanghai railway station is literaly outside, so getting around was easy and straight forward.

This hotel is a great hotel. It has everything and it is very convienient to most all in Shanghai. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great hotel in Shanghai. I go to Shanghai quite a bit and this hotel ranks right up there with far more expensive hotels in the area. Excellent hotel with helpful staff. Restaurant was great with a wide variety of food for the buffet breakfast.

Room is clean and perfect size, bath room's shower is nice, serve all kind of personal stuff. The hotel is big, nice and modern. Everything has high standards; rooms, bar and the fantastic spa department. The restaurants are however more mediocre, but on a general basis I found that the Shanghai restaurants did not hold very high standards. good price,but the room a litter bit small. may be good for business man,but i m pretty sure not good for couple.

Excellent Hotel, fantastic location near train and subway station. very helpfull staf and very good food at restaurant.

I stayed at this hotel with my father and the request was for two twin beds. They no longer had two twin beds, but accommodated us with an additional bed in our room. The room was well appointed, but so small that I thought I was in Japan not China. The check-in process was disorderly because of the lack of availability for the room we requested. Again […] ... the room was really, really small. All other similar grade hotels have much bigger and roomier rooms. Apparently our room was an upgrade so I shudder to think what the standard room size is. Also I was on non-smoking floor, but the air from the vents contained a very noticeable smoky smell. Great hotel, good price. Great shower. Next to a subway station, perfect to visit the city by subway. They charge extra for internet in your room, but have free internet at the lobby.

Even small hotels nowadays provide wi-fi internet for free. For the price you pay on each night, internet in the room should be free of charge.

Great choice for a hotel in Shanghai. Cost is very reasonable and my experience with the hotel was fine. Rooms are well kept and well furnished. Hotel is very close to Shanghai Metro station which makes getting around a breeze. Only a couple of stops to most major tourist and shopping areas.

Best points - quite high standard of furnishing, decor and ambient. Easy access to MTR. Can improve: 1. "Mercure" not clearly displayed, causing a bit of confusion. 2. Can afford to have more reception service staff. They are nice and polite though. Just short handed and a bit of waiting time. I would stay in this hotel again.

Great & beautiful Hotel, nice service, near to MRT 5 exit, Clean room, Will come to this hotel again.

We arrived around 1030, but the check-in time is 12pm. We requested for early check-in, and they allowed! We also requested for late check-out at 1pm. The hotel is good. Bed is comfortable.. The location wise is also good, shopping mall is just beside of the hotel. Will recommend to other travelers!

Excellent hotell. Free wifi in the lobby, really good service, nice rooms. I tried the restaurant 2 times. It was good, but not excellent.

This is a very nice hotel. The bathrooms in China can smell like a sewer so I was determined to stay somewhere where this would not be an issue. We were not dissappointed. The location was great, very easy to get around and some decent restaurants just around the corner. The room was a little small but the bed was divinely soft. My only complaint was […] that there was some mildew in the shower. However, they happily re-cleaned the shower when asked. General warning for tourists in Shanghai: Beware anyone offering to take you to a tea festival or tea ceremony. There seems to be a large ring of thieves opperating around People's Square ripping people off with inflated prices. A couple speaking fluent English will approach you. They seem very friendly and innocent, but beware! We fell for it once and then were approached twice more in the same day. They will all tell you similar stories in order to lure you to a tea shop. Hubby and I with our friends had a wonderful stay at the Grand Mercure Zhongya Hotel. The lobby wasnt that big but our suite was huge with a lot of space, even the bathroom was big. I liked the bath tub and the shower room which had a separate cubicle from the toilet. There are a lot of restarants to choose from within a short walking distance, and there are a lot of shops around. Our tour guide even said that our hotel is in a street that never sleep because of the train station. But it was never noisy. Choose the executive suite because there is free breakfast which had a lot of choices, and free cocktails on the 27th floor was a good surprise. A comfortable, well located hotel near Shanghai Railway Station, just 3 stops on subway from Peoples Square. Rooms are of a good size, bathrooms quite luxurious. The hotel is right next to the subway. It is 3 stops to the Bund. The ramen restaurant around the corner is excellent. The rooms on the executive floors are worth the upgrade and a delicous breakfast in the main restaurant is included. We would stay here again.

Service very good, we stay at the suite for 1 night and feel welcome by the hotel manager. The only dissapoitment is the front desk staff do not speak good English and when I ask for morning cal, the front desk may not understand and did not cal us in the morning. Breakfast was very good. I stayed six night in Nov 2011, the location is very convenient with subway #1 and #3 & 4 right out the door, the train is a 3 minutes walk and there are plenty of restaurants around. The staffs are very helpful and speak English.

Good location near railway station, however not in area where are tourist spots. Clean room and polite staff.

Great hotel. Very soft bed, which was perfect for us. We hade some problems and they switch our documents all the time. Overall it was à great hotel!! If breakfast would be included the hotel would be perfect!!

Just completed a 4 night stay in an executive suite which I was disappointed to find was on the 8th floor and hence did not have the city skyline views that are mentioned in the description. Room itself was very comfortable but daily room service lacked attention to detail and toiletries were very low quality for a hotel of this standard. The Exec […] floor restaurant was a real let down. Staff completely ignored us for 3 out of 4 breakfast visits and the breakfast selection was very limited and not that enjoyable. The ground floor reception bar staff were more attentive but they really need to sort out the problem of leaving the front doors open which made the whole area absolutely freezing! The hotel looks nice superficially but major gaps with the service. If something goes wrong - then staff are unable to cope, and the management doesn't respond appropriately. I speak Mandarin so its not a language issue. If I weren't on a business trip it wouldn't have been such a hassle.

Stayed here for 4 nights on a long weekend trip to Shanghai. I chose it because it was the cheapest hotel in it's class but still in a reasonable area, and was pleasantly surprised by it. First, location. It's right next to the number 5 exit of Shanghai Station metro station. When you go out of exit 5 look right immediately. The overhang is the car […] port outside reception, maybe 15 or 20m away. Just outside the hotel are local convenience stores, including a 7-11, and opposite over the road are Starbucks, McDonalds etc. if you arrive late and need a quick snack. Next the hotel itself. It'd be fine as a 5-star, except that I don't think there's a swimming pool, so maybe they don't qualify on that basis. Frankly I can't think of any other obvious reason it's not a 5*. The hotel is very - I think the word is gorgeously - furnished especially in the lobby, I think maybe this is typical of hotels in this part of the world. The rooms were very good. I had an Executive room which was on a higher floor with a good view. It wasn't huge but wasn't small either. The bathroom was a good size and had a very nice rain shower. Everything was clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable and I slept very well. One advantage of the executive rooms is that they include free internet, and don't cost much more than regular rooms. It might be necessary to remind them that internet is free for executive rooms on checkout, but they apologized a lot and took it off the bill straight away. The (wired) internet service didn't work at first until I asked at reception about it, and then it worked within 5 minutes. Wireless internet is in the lobby only, and once seemed to be switched off, but was reasonably fast and easy to connect to via iPod, Android or Windows. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again. The same standard of hotel slightly more centrally is probably well over double the price, and the hotel is only 3 stops from People's square metro or 4 from Nanjing Road shopping (i.e. 7 อ่านเพิ่มเติม
