Colonial House Inn & Restaurant - Yarmouth Port

A very historic inn in a good location. Plenty of useful advice and directions from the landlord to help make our stay an enjoyable experience. A short drive to the coast (we walked it but it was a bit of a slog!) Friendly staff and tasty, homemade breakfast.

Great bit of history as the inn was the home of a sea captain in the 17 and 18 hundreds. Was a bit dated, but staff were pleasant and it was clean. Overall, average

It's in a good location on 6A, which is a picturesque cape cod road. Value-wise for $140, you get your dinner, which was very good and breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is continentel. They give you a tray with a small piece of french toast, quiche, scone, a muffin and a slice of banana bread . All of this is microwaved, leaving the french toast, […] banana bread and scone hard. They would be better to serve a regular breakfast. One day french toast, the next day pancakes, etc. At least it would be fresh and enjoyed more. The room could be cleaner starting with the valance over the bed and the area rugs should be taken out. We found the staff wonderful. Dishes aren't washed well ? by hand. My 14 year old grandaughter & I really enjoyed our stay. We read about the history of ghosts who occasionally visit the premises. This made our time even more enjoyable. History and present day charm collide to offer a wonderful change from the cookie cutter feel of many hotel chains. Breakfast was truly delicious, especiall the quiche. I booked a one night stay at the Colonial House since it was close to the location of my friend's wedding in Dennis. The location was excellent in this regard. However, the hotel was very old, run down, dusty, and in need of renovation. We had spiderwebs in the bathroom, the patio furniture at the outdoor deck was shabby and rusty, and the gift shop […] was downright scary. The indoor pool area smelled like a musty basement. We loved this inn! Our host was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us great tips on what to see and where to eat on Cape Cod. The inn is like a trip back in time; old, yet very charming. This hotel looks lovely from the outside, but inside it is dingy and poorly maintained. We were not in the main building but in a smaller, moldy-smelling building behind it. Judging from the 'room pictures' I was anticipating a cozy stay in a well maintained and upscale New England Inn. I was so dissappointed when I saw our room had a "sagging" old bed covered in old, mismatched sheets that I wouldn't let my dogs sleep on! I was told by the currator of the inn that all the rooms had fireplaces and queen sized beds. The […] bed in our room was a very uncomfortable double that had a foam topper thrown on top of the existing sagging mattress. My body was aching so badly I was forced to cut my stay short, drive home and get some sleep in my own bed. I was embarrassed to have my friend see such a dump of a room this place was! When we checked out we could not find anyone to give the key to, we waited over 10 minutes while one person looked for the other just to hand the key over. I would never recommed this place to anyone other than a college kid looking to party.
