Great place to stay! a 7 Euro cab to down town. but it was 15 Euros for breakfast!!!!!!! Blah. Over I would stay again!

Older hotel in need of maintanance. Thread bare carpets, spooky hallways. Get something closer to the nice little town.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and the hotel was charming. The staff was friendly and all spoke English. The location of the hotel was great. It is right off the main road and close to town. The breakfast was a little pricey, but it was convenient.

Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl is a resort type hotel. It has great facilities and staff are very helpful. We had an enjoyable dinner there as well as breakfast. The hotel is about half a mile from Garmisch-Partenkirchen which is a nice small tourist town. The hotel is very convenient to visit sites in German/ Austrian Alpine region

Our stay at this hotel was nothing but positive.The room rates were reasonable and the hotel staff was friendly ,knowledgeable,and very helpful.The buffet breakfast was reasonably priced and well worth it.Coming into Garmisch you can't miss it and it's such a gorgeous building. Great service, awesome view of the Alps from our room (3 windows!), very quiet (soundproof windows), very nice pool and sauna areas, lots of parking, inviting lobby, 20 min walk from city center. We stayed in the older part of the hotel, so the hallways smelled a little funny, but the room was ok. Overall, the hotel was nice. Our bathroom lights constantly flickered and it surprised us that the cleaning personnel did not report it to get them fixed. We were only there two nights so it was fine. The pool was very nice and the location was good.

We were amazed at the size of our rooms and the fantastic view of the mountains. These hotel is an excellent value. Staff were very helpful. The lobby was exquisitely furnished. I would love to return.

Lovely hotel. I booked 2 rooms. One was large in size while the other was very small. Not sure if I am paying the same money for both why the difference in room size.

Pros: Beautiful view off of the patio. You can see all 4 peaks of the Alps. Very friendly and helpful staff. Dry and wet sauna. Pool was warm and relaxing. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Lift was essential for us because we were skiing all day and legs just could not take walking up 3 flights of stairs with bags. Cons: Forced "guest […] tax" that was offset by free use of mass transit and other services/businesses in town. Not close to skiing or other attractions but view more than makes up for that. Hotel is old but still in good shape. No hot tub. There is a bubble jet area in the pool, but a hot tub would have been perfect after skiing all day. Overall, this was a good hotel. We basically only needed a bed and a hot tub since we were only in Garmsich for 1 day to ski. We had our own transportation, so the guest pass was not needed and felt like we were being squeezed for a few extra Euro per guest per night. Great hotel with excellent food. The first room was large and quiet, but the TV didn't work, so they immediately switched us to second room. That TV didn't work so they brought in another.. We had to pay for the Internet, which surprised us, and it only is good for 24 hours and for one computer. We couldn't use the same code for a second computer. Nice hotel. Nice views of the Alps. Great central location.

The hotel is conveniently located on the outskirts of Garmisch. It's about a 75 minute drive from the Munich airport to the hotel. You should plan ahead and order a German road map from AAA and map out the directions as to which autobahns you will need to connect to in order to reach the hotel. The hotel offers easy access to all the must-see sights […] such as King Ludwig II's castles; the Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. The wood carvers capital of Oberammegau is also a short drive from the hotel. It's a 10 minute drive from the hotel to the center of town and there is a bus stop located a short walk from the hotel. We picked the Sonnenbichl since it was the only upscale option available our July weekend due to the motor-rad. I did not notice that rooms have no a/c when booking. it was plenty cool at night with open windows, but some people are not used to this. the bathroom could have used a new tile job, but I found it average for european standards. if you are […] used to american hotel bathrooms, you will be disappointed. the bed had a very comfortable mattress pad. probably most comfortable bed of trip. this place is on the outskirts of town so you will have to drive or bus to the main part of Garmisch or Partenkirchen. In exchange for that, you get great views from one side of the hotel and the restaurant/bar. The hotel itself is only a 5 minute drive, 15 minute walk from Garmisch. Quiet area, kind of out of the way but not too much. Very close to the Zugspitze and Eibsee. A couple hours from Innsbruck and Munich. Very friendly, professional staff that speaks English well. Very comfortable rooms. The pool area is small to American standards but has a couple of features that make up for it. Such as massage jets and a stationary swimming jet. The astetic of the pool area is very relaxing. The prices of the restaurant inside the hotel are compareable to downtown which are a bit high but affordable. Overall, great stay. The staff was extremely nice, kind and very helpful. The breakfast was not included, and was quite pricey even though there was a good variety of food. Everyone was very professional and could communicate very well in english. Would definately stay again, the staff was great.

Very nice hotel, elegant and reasonably priced. It is maintained really well. Friendly and courteous staff. Although it would have been nice to have internet access in room and breakfast included with the price. Location is a little out of mainstream. Nonetheless, will recommend this hotel to friends and family.

ein schönes Hotel mit Flair das etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist. Der Aufenthalt war schön, das Personal sehr feundlich. Leider wurde mein Sohn wegen einer defekten Unterwasserlampe im Schwimmbecken verletzt (Schnittwunde). Alles in allem war das Hotel i.O., wir hatten das Pech ein Zimmer zu beziehen mit einem Badezimmer das sich ohne zu öffnendes Fenster als Tropfsteinhöhle erwies. Kalter und nasser Kalk- geruch!!

Dette hotel er bestemt at anbefale. Beliggenhed i udkanten af Garmish. Personale taler engelsk. Det er ikke sidste gang vi tager dertil. Morgenmad er helt i top, men man bør ikke spise aftensmad i restauranten. Der er for lidt at vælge imellem, og maden er ikke helt almindelig. Tag derfor ned i byen, hvor der er et væld af spisesteder.

Et dejligt hotel med utrolig god service og morgemad med alt hvad hjertet begærer. Ligger tæt på spændende steder, så som Partenachklamm - et fantastisk sted, smukt og utroligt. Es ist nicht immer leicht mit 4 Kindern ein passendes Hotel zu finden. Das Sonnenbichl ist für uns aber die erste Adresse. Zwei Riesenzimmer mit Durchgang und aussergewöhnlich schönen Blick auf die Skischanze und die Bergwelt. Tolle Terrasse. Tolles Preis - Leistungsverhältnis! Schwimmbad und Sauna super. Erstklassiger Service. Keine Minibar, was uns […] aber nicht weiter störte. Was wir bemängeln, aber nicht nur hier, ist der Frühstückspreis für eine Familie mit vier Kindern, der steht meistens nicht im richtigen Verhältnis zum Übernachtungspreis. Ein ganz schönes Hotel, etwas in die Jahre gekommen, nette Angestellte aber durch die Durchgangsstraße vor dem Hotel kann man selbst mitten in der Nacht Autos zählen. (auch bei geschlossenen Einfach-Fenstern) Bei offenem Fenster bekommt man ein Autobahngefühl... Frühstück ist super aber mit 15 Euro pro Person viel zu teuer.

Hotellet ligger lidt uden for centrum. Det er holdt i en gammel stil og fra nogle værelser er der en utrolig flot udsigt til bjergene. Hotelpersonalet var blandt andet venlige til at hjælpe med at finde en autoriseret mekaniker i nærheden. Lidt for "fint" til vores smag.

saubere und große Zimmer, warmer Pool (27° C Wassertemperatur), sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal, tolles Ambiete, das den Namen "Grandhotel" verdient hat, traumhafter Blick von der Terrasse und den Zimmer nach vorne hinaus
