Running through the centre, the daily Albert Cuyp Market is the largest in the city. De Pijp is also renowned for its restaurants which serve some of Amsterdam’s best ethnic (Syrian, Moroccan, Surinamese, Turkish etc) food.

I have stayed at the College many times. I am well aware they are students and sometimes they make mistakes. It remains a stylish hotel with its own charm and I shall continue to visit it.

These people exceeded expectations in every way. As an example,my wife and I had a very early flight. They arranged transportation to the airport and then got us coffee and fresh,hot croissants despite the fact that the resturant was closed . I grew up in a hotel and worked throughout college in hotels and,frankly,I never saw service like this.

My wife and our two teens spent a week at The College Hotel Summer 2009. The hotel exceeded expectations. The hotel is welcoming and refined without being overbearing. Other reviewers warned about the dark color scheme in the rooms; we found the rooms to be well furnished, adequately lit and comfortable. Ours had high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows […] and plush beds, seating and pillows. The student hotel staff were delightful, both professional and charming. The outdoor bar/patio was a pleasant respite from the busy city. The hotel is a very long walk or a very convenient 20 min tram ride to Central Station. We stayed for 3 nights in July 2008 and cannot recommend it enough. Despite the staff being 70% students they put many 5 star hotels to shame. We were always acknowleged by all of the staff and they really looked after us. They are all friendly, genuine and very professional even though you can tell they are still learning their trade. Elegant, flott. Veldig ung, men flink stab. Vi spiste julemidddag der, god service, men tregt gjennomført. Dessverre. For det var god mat! Men man kan ikke vente en halvtime på hver rett. Det er for dårlig. Fint hotell ellers. Flotte rom, god plass, fine farger, gode senger, veldig trivelig lobbybar. Laidback, voksen stemning.
