The resort was right on the beach, however because of the time of year, you couldn't swim in the ocean & it didn't even look nice. Lots of debris washed onto beach, we didn't even walk on it! Really a nice value. We stayed in a Grand Suite in the Tahani wing and it was wonderful. Beach was great although since it's the rainy season it was a bit dangerous for swimming (red flag was out).

Wi fi not in rooms, disappointing for 2013. The hotel location is good for people who want to lock away from the rest of world for a limited period. There is nothing to do ther other than sun bathe or relax around the pools or the barsnext to the beach. The food is the same everyday. They should introduce more variety in their cuisine. However the bed was quite comfortable. It is the old interior decor that made it feel like a 3 star hotel. Management could give staff a more attractive uniform especially the female staff. In this day and age it is disappointing that complimentary internet was not offered except on reception computers that were always filled wiht people and those computers are very slow. stayed with my family over the Chinese New Year, stayed what they called the "mountain view" and the room was absolutely dreadful. In overall, the hotel is very big and tries to cater for everone ie. families, old retirees, honeymoners and wedding. the location of the hotel and the beach are quite good.

Wow. What an amazing place. We stayed in the Bhuri wing and the rooms were gorgeous. The resort grounds were flawless, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. This is a great hotel for families or anyone wanting beautiful grounds, lovely staff and great food. It is away from the crowds but close enough to Karon for shopping.

Great hotel in a quiet location. The service was amazing and the resort was beautiful. Just watch out as everything in and around the resort is fairly overpriced. If you are wanting cheaper prices head into Kata, Karon or Patong.

Excellent Hotel, with great amenities, well kept grounds and very clean (although the Thani wing where we stayed is looking a little older now). The coconut bar at happy hour during sunset is a great experience. However, if you're going to go on the hotel's provided walk activity, be prepared for a grueling trek up a very large hill.

Location of the hotel is great away from the usual hubbub, still close enough to walk to Kata centre with nearby shops and restaurants if you want to try something different from the hotel's offerings( which are good but a bit pricier). Great manicured gardens and pools and a lovely, clean swimable beach. Rooms good size and well maintained but need […] updating. Staff are great from gardener to reception staff invariably friendly and cheerful and all speak useful English. Reception staff particularly helpful with local restaurant bookings and knowledgeable about tours on offer. When next in Thailand I would happily stay here again as on a cost/relaxation ratio this hotel offers maximum bang for your buck even though it might be dearer than others in Kata. Arrived at the hotel (Buri wing which is slightly further than the main hotel) which is about an hour from the Airport and were greeted with a drink, cold towel and traditional flower bracelets as they began to check us in. The check in process took ages as the staff member decided to take a complaint call from one of the guests already checked in. […] She then took 10 minutes trying to solve that person problem rather than actually checking us in. She apologised but I do not think that it was good enough. She should have passed the complaint on to someone else or have someone else continue our check in process. Room was lovely. Large bed and lovely room (quite modern design but stiff traditional). Breakfast was lovely as well. You could have whatever eggs you wanted too. Although I found their ready made poached eggs really nice (like eggs benedict). For the 3 days that I was there, the service around the pool area before 1pm was very bad. For 1, they was no staff around so you couldn't order drinks or food. It was not always clean - there were empty glasses etc from previous occupants. Otherwise, the pool area on the Buri Wing was quite nice. Nightlife in the hotel is quite quiet (which I liked) and we head into the main kata beach for dinner in the evenings (about 200 baht in taxi outside hotel). Great hotel - comfortable, very clean and tidy (room, facilities, pools, everything), really friendly staff. It's also a great location - it's 5-10 mins drive to Kata (200B), or 15-20 to Patong (500B), which is way better than being in the middle of it. It's quiet but accessible, and you're not assaulted by the "wondeerful" smells of the towns :-) There […] are some great restaurants and really cheap laundromat down the street, and a couple of massage places too - all worth checking out rather than feeling you need to "go somewhere" for these things. Dropping your entire suitcase in at the laundry for wash/iron at 70B at the end of your trip makes for an easy return :-) Best of all - you've basically got your own private beach. There is no easy access to the beach except for a couple of adjoining hotels - absolutely brilliant. Only tiny thing for me was that I didn't really rate the food in the hotel itself. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great. This is only relevant if you're planning on spending all day by the pool and on the beach - as we did - and my GF disagrees with this, but just for the record. I'd also reccomend grabbing one of the non-hotel taxi drivers out the front - they have great local knowledge, will effectively act as your personal driver for a little tip, and have good contacts for booking day trips for much less than the hotel. Katathani is a fabulous resort with beautifully maintained gardens leading onto a white sandy beach. The staff are really attentive and welcoming and the buffet breakfasts are extensive and really high quality. My wife and I had a great recent stay in an ocean front room, which was spacious and clean. The grounds and room upkeep is excellent with no signs of mildew or insects inside. There was a breakfast buffet included which was very good with a wide selection of Asian and Western choices. The beach is nice, though the waves were very high during our stay […] (monsoon season), which meant is was too rough to go into the ocean. The hotel pools were quite nice, though. The location is further away from many of the main attractions or larger cities, but there are 2 Thai seafood restaurants, taxi stand, pharmacy, mini-mart and currency exchange immediately across the street. A little further away (which involves walking up and down a big hill) are many more restaurants and stores. We thought it was a good balance of being quiet without being isolated. The main areas of Kata, Patong, and Phuket are best accessible by taxi (200-500 baht). The hotel itself was pretty quiet, too. There were a few families with children, but it seemed mostly adult couples. I didn't notice many organized children's activities on the posted schedules. The free wifi in the lobby was too slow to be usable, but there are many desktop computers for free usage (including printers) scattered throughout the hotel, so that was not an issue for us. Would possibly be too quiet for people looking for a party atmosphere, but it is only 25 minutes to Patong and only 500THB. Would recommend eating in Kata that has plenty of cheap options and if you are looking for something a bit more up market then the "Boathouse" has fantastic food and views to match. Thanks to hotels.com me and my partner were able to spend 1 week at the katathani hotel! We got an amazing discount and after this holiday we have become closer . It is in a quiet location but still close enough to shop at kata centre, the staff were lovely , the beach was crystal clear , the restaurants were delicious and I couldn't of asked for anything […] more! We had booked for 3 nights stay with our 1st night at Junior Suite (oceanfront) & the following nights at Junior Suite (Seaview) as the oceanfront room was fully booked. We had a complimentary upgrade to Royal Suite Room (full seaview, Jacuzzi) for the 1st night upon Arrival by Assistant Manager. During check-in, we had been told that we need to check […] out by 12 noon on the next day & need to re-check in into Junior Suite (Seaview) room latest by 2pm. At 1st we thought it could be troublesome to do so. What a surprise to us! When we walked pass the lobby in the evening, the Assistant Manager approached us, telling us that they can provide us a complimentary upgrade for our entire 3-night stay at the amazing Royal Suite Room. It made us so touched that the Assistant Manager not only could recognise each of his customers/remembered my name, but also considerate enough to understand customers' need & acted accordingly. I would highly recommend this place for a romantic getaway. We got the delux room, there are two versions, one being bigger and nicer than the other so it pays to ask. It will always be a very memorable place for us.

I remember the beach at Kata Noi as being the nicest beack in Phuket. However it has become very comercial and w too many people on it. Ko Samui much better value and atmostphere. Overall a good experience at Katathani few points to the minus: *Quite big issue with humidity in the room. *Disappointed that we had to pay extra for sun beds at the so-called private beach (not a private beach). *Language skills of restaurant personnel was not adequate.
