A good hotel with exellent location at Vondelpark.

Friendly staff, room a bit small, but clean. We asked to be moved after the 1st night, as the room we were first allocated was "below ground" and noise from people walking above was a problem. There was no hesitation in moving us and the 2nd room was much nicer. Ours was a deluxe room on the second floor. Brilliant one with a huge double bed. Spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is expensive and not really worth it, fair enough though. Excellent hotel staff!

The location is great: very close to the downtown but in a very calm area. Our room (with bathroom) was really cozy and clean and the staff very helpful and willing to solve any doubts we had. We had a very good time there.

The heating system failed in the hotel annex. We were shown 3 rooms, 2 in the annex and 1 in the main hotel. the hotel is styled on a theme and some of the rooms are nice but all of the bathrooms have chipped and cracked baths and in the annex they are very small indeed. the hotel desparately needs modern bathrooms. Small cosy hotel with great atmosphere , located in the nicest area of Amsterdam. Shops within walking distance and Vondelpark around the corner. Quiet location. Staff are nice and general service/cleanliness is OK. However, breakfast (EUR 15) is not worth it's money: if you can wait until 10 am you can get much better breakfast for the same amount […] - or less - in the hundreds of cafes you can find within 20 min walking distance. Rooms were nice - though PLEASE get rid of the plastic matress covers!!!!! Ridiculous that hotels actually believe customers won't mind the discomfort!!! Overall old standard small hotel room. Updated restroom. Good location 15-20 min of walking to the center.

Although the hotel could do with some updating, it was comfy, clean and tidy. Negatives - The builders who were working next door started at 08.30! Positives - The staff were very helpful, and even went out of their way to help me when my case broke.

Unfortunately, the room we were given was located in a building across the street from the Hotel, and the quality and the size of the room left much to desire...would rate this Hotel 2 stars at best!

Unfortunately not up to European standard, not entirely clean, not a great location, extremely steep steps, would be difficult for elderly or people with limited mobility. Staff were great though.

We only spent one night in Amsterdam, but we enjoyed our stay at the Filosoof. Our room had a mural painting of two angels and a philosophical quote. Parking in Amsterdam was expensive, but we had just picked up our BMW in Munich and were able to get a spot right in front of the hotel. The staff was helpful with parking, directions to the city center […] which was about a 15 minute walk and accomodated our son's milk in their refrigerator. Hotel de filosoof is an Amsterdam oasis, away from the tourist crush, two steps from beautiful Vondelpark and a five-minute walk from Leidesplein. My friend and I wanted to have a fun weekend break in Amsterdam and the Filosoof suited us perfectly. We're too old for student hostels, but can't stand boring, characterless business hotels. Upon arrival we were upgraded to the KIng's Suite, which was full of interesting books and antiques and had a deliciously luxurious king sized bed that could have […] fit an whole family. The hardest part was actually leaving the room and going into town. A lovely place, providing you don't need much hand-holding. The service was friendly enough, but a little eccentric. Jeg havde reservet hotel værelset hjemme fra danmark, og på min reservertation, havde jeg reservet et orange værelse med udsigt til baggården med en lille terrasse og et lille bord med stole, istedet, fik vi et lorte værelse på første sal ud til gaden, lorte værelse og Ik særlig romantisk. Weekend van 1 april 2012 met mijn vriendin vertoefd in Amsterdam. Gekozen voor het hotel de Filosoof, vanwege ligging, prijs en ambiance. Tegen de rand van het Vondelpark gelegen, is dit een perfecte, rustieke en niet standaar hotel accomodatie om te verblijven voor je staads bezoek aan Amsterdam. Lijn één, op 200 meter, brengt je via Overtoom, Leidscheplein, […] Dam en Spui lang alle interessante attracties, de grote Musea liggen op loop afstand (door het Vondelpark). We hebbben alleen logies genomen, maar het ontbijt wat we gezien hebben zag er goed uit. Wij hebben echter bij Subway in de stad en Het Thee huis in het Vondelpark ontbeten. Nous avions demandé une chambre avec 2 lits jumeaux, et pour satisfaire notre demande, nous avons eu une chambre avec 4 lits (super!) mais en sous-sol avec une salle de bain sans chauffage où il devait faire 10°C! Essayez d'éviter la chambre 2 en plein hiver!

Amsterdamin pakkasissa ei tämän hotellin huoneiden lämmitys oikein toimi. Lisäksi Hotelli on jakautunut eri taloihin, joten se ei oikein tuntunut edes 3 tähden hotellilta. Sijainti on hyvä, koska ratikkapysäkki on ihan kulman takana.

Visserligen himla prisvärt och rent. Men väldigt slitet och dessutom lämnade städpersonalen min dörr olåst vid två tillfällen. Personalen var trevligt och rar men hade inte något vidare koll på vad som hände i Amsterdam

til den prisen,så er hotellet perfekt.ca 10 minutters gange til Leidseplein.dobbeltrommet var veldig veldig lite,så vi oppgraderte til suite mot et tillegg som var likt halvparten av det vi allerede hadde betalt.(tre nettter) Suiten var stor og fin,men det er ekstremt bratte trapper opp ! piacevole sistemazione a due passi da vandelpark collegato molto bene con mezzi pubblici, personale disponibile, camera sempre pulita e deliziosa. L'unica cosa forse avrei tenuto il riscaldamento lievemente più moderato, troopo caldo e fuori troppo freddo :) ma nel complesso niente di negativo.

Das Hotel liergt in einer sehr ruhigen Seitenstraße der Overtoom in der Nähe des Vondelparks. Mit der Tram ist die Innenstadt binnen 10 Minuten zu erreichen. Die Zimmer sind phantasievoll eingerichtet, in unserem Fall mit stilvollen, alten Möbeln. Wir hatten ein Doppelzimmer mit Zustellbett für unsere 12-jährige Tochter gebucht und erhielten ein großes […] Doppelzimmer mit einem kleinen Nebenraum, in dem das dritte Bett stand - ideal! Auch erhält jede Person eine Schlüsselkarte. Das Frühstücksbüffett ist reichhaltig und lässt keine Wünsche offen. Der Preis von derzeit ca. 15,00 € (2012) ist mit Blick auf das Gesamtpacket (Zimmer+Frühstück) durchaus akzeptabel. Das Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit; die Kommunikation auf Englisch absolut problemlos. Auch die Gepäckaufbewahrung am Abreisetag stellte kein Problem dar, obwohl die Staumöglichkeiten knapp waren. Ett trevligt hotell med gångavstånd till både kringliggande spårvagnshållplatser och torg (leides plein). Torget har massor av klubbar och shopping för alla plånböcker. För livsnjutaren finns coffeeshopen Blue lagoon med långa öppettider precis runt hörnet. Hotellet har även en mysig innegård/trädgård som sprider energi året om. Dit hotel ligt mooi naast het Voldelpark. Heel vriendelijk personeel. De kamer was een beetje krap en het is niet heel modern. Onze kamer lag aan de overkant van de straat, we moesten oversteken voor het ontbijt. Service is prima.

Mysigare hotell får man leta efter!

Walking distance from the beautiful Vondelpark and only a tram away from the inner city. Interesting and cozy theme rooms with a feel of home. Breakfast however wasn't anything to brag about for the price.

Hyggelig hotell, litt langt til sentrum men veldig greit med Tram - seks- sju minutter. Kommer gjerne tilbake

Accueil très aimable (à condition de parler anglais ou néerlandais). Chambre "deluxe" confortable mais sans plus. Salle de bain un peu vieillote mais petit jardin. Hôtel très bien placé (à côté de la place des musées), rue très calme!

Das Hotel ist sehr schön, direkt am Vondelpark, die Wohngegend ist ruhig, sehr schöne Häuser. Eine Bahnstation ist unmittelbar in der Nähe. Die Fahrräder die zum Verleih stehen sind gut und preislich genau so hoch wei beim Fahrradverleih. Das Hotel de Filosoof ist ein sehr gut gelegenes cooles Hotel. Es ist super mit den Öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erreichen.Sehr nette Leute und dein gutes Frühstücks Bufet.

Hyggeligt hotel, god service, tæt på centrum. Dyr morgenmad! Meget stejle trapper - men der er elevator. Ikke megen trafikstøj. Værelset var lille, men da vi blot brugte det til at overnatte i, var det OK. Yderst hjælpsom personale.Vi kommer givetvis igen.
