Great location near train station and bus line into old Salzburg. Room rate was very good but room was facing railroad tracks. Thankfully, the windows kept the noise out. In the attached restaurnt, the smell of smoke was present from the special smoking bar, although the local Stiegl brew was quite tasty. not really a four-star hotel, very small room, and not very comfortable beds. Close to train trail, but not really noisy. The staff are not helpful. The TV in our room has no sound at all, so we called the front desk. The lady at the front desk basically told me that since it is Easter time, there is no one at the hotel who can fix TVs, so there is […] nothing she can do about it. We enjoyed our 2 night stay but the double room is rather small and no enough room to put a second suitcase anywhere but the floor and then trip over it! Overall, great stay for the price we paid on sale.

The staff of this hotel was super nice! They were more than willing to help me connect to the sights and events that I was interested in, and had good recommendations for things I hadn't thought of.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Quiet time of year, I got a good rate via trawling the interweb and all the staff were very very helpful. No complaints. Only downer was the proximity of the rail line at the rear of the hotel. Very convenient for Mirabel square and the snow shuttle service to Flachau which was great fun and highly recommended. Pleasant hotel, really money`s worth.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Stieglbrau for 3 nights for Christmas 2011. The hotel is in a central location and the Old Town (10min walk) and the train station (5min walk) are very close by. Additionally, the airport bus stops directly in front of the hotel. The hotel room are small but comfortable, however, the staff when we were checking we […] unfriendly and could improve their customer service. Our room was one hour late even though we weren't checking in early. We had to wait with our luggage in the lobby. When questioned about the delay, the receptionist didn't offer any apology and only later the manager provided us with one complimentary breakfast, even though there were two of us staying in the room! As for the breakfast, unless it's included, save the €12 since it's only slightly better than a continental buffet. Comfy beds, large rooms, its like you aren't in a normal european hotel room. Loved the price and the towel warmers!

My Only problem was with the Internet, and the 15 euro breakfast not included.

This is a hotel with all amenities and situated in the heart of the city yet close to all tourist spots. They have a separate room to keep the luggage after check-out time without any fees. We enjoyed the stay at this hotel and would recommend to anyone.

The location surprised us. We expected it to be inconvenient to get to Salzburg old town, but instead it was easy. The hotel is on a major bus route with 4 bus lines outside your door. The train station AND the adjacent major bus hub was an easy 2-block walk. This is a very nice small hotel near the train station. Good price and very convenient to many attractions. The bus stop is at the door. The bath is new and clean. And, the restaurant downstairs offers good local menu and wonderful atmosphere. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

The hotel is well-situated to see Salzburg and does provide a parking location behind the hotel. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable - only downside - for light sleepers - is it's proximity to the train station, although that is a benefit for those using Eurorail. Excellent hotel, very clean, with good restaurant. Only possible downside is proximty of railway line. Did not cause us any problems. Would happily recommend

Whatever you do, don't believe that they have air condition!!! They might officially, but myself and every other guest I spoke with disagreed. It was so miserable we slept with the windows open and endured the sounds of traffic all night - but at least there was a breeze. I recommend just staying at a cheaper place without air, or the Crowne Plaza for […] more money but only 1 minute away. Also, luggage security not so much secure. No safe management of luggage held for us after check out. Anyone could have walked out with our bags, no check system, just a big pile of luggage in a closet that you helped yourself to after they unlocked the door. I hesitated before booking. It was fine in general. It was decently priced. I didn't like the fact that breakfast was so expensive when it wasn't that delicious or that amazing.

My wife and I stayed two nights and were pleased with our room and the location of the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was more expansive than the norm.

Nice clean hotel. We walked from train station about 5 minutes. To the center walk is about 15 minutes long. Breakfast wasn't included, I think we paid discounted rate. They had tea and coffee in the room, that was nice. Overall hotel left very good impression.

The hotel is OK, staff friendly, rooms clean nice restaurant, excellent beer garden. The only negative is the noise level of the neighborhood, such as frequent train travel.

This is a small hotel which could be very charming. New, clean decor is badly needed to bring it up to the level it claims to have. The beds were clean but I didn't particularly feel comfortable with the carpetting, draperies and accessories, which were old and looked as if they were thrown together for a summer cottage. The bathroom was clean but not […] "spiffy" and there was barely room to have a cosmetic case without worry of it falling on the floor. For a Best Western hotel, this was a big disappointment. This hotel is near the train station (as in, you can see trains out the window), but on the other side of the river from the main square. I stayed here in early June '11 and booked two rooms for five adults that were travelling together through Europe. Overall, I can't recommend the hotel to anyone else. They are old, and the furniture is outdated. We had a no smoking room, but clearly there was smoking going on in there, quite possibly by the last occupant. There was a cigarette burn in my bed. The street outside is noisy, and it's absoutely necessary to have the windows open at night to keep cool, so use earplugs if cars roaring by and trains within 100 meters might keep you up. The hotel just wasn't very nice. I recommend looking elsewhere. My experience: snobbish service from female front desk staff. Not rude but snobbish. Do not even provide kettle or any coffee and tea inside room. Need to collect water from restaurant below for drinking water. Wifi available at fee and free. Did not expect this type of standard from a Mercure hotel.

It was a pity that the air condition did not work properly

Excellent buffet breakfast with many choices and excellent service; the old elevator on the other hand is extremely small and insufficient for luggage.

Nice beergarden for lunch, Breakfast was extra. Close to bahnhof but fairly far from town center.

Room type description misleading--a double bed room we booked turned out to be a twin bed room (two single beds). Receptionist was unhelpful and unwilling to deal with this matter, simply saying it was our fault booking the wrong room type. This was unprofessional.
