Kitchen in room provides additional space. Closet inside bathroom is rather odd. Great views! Ugly building as seen from the outside.

Good value, especially if you will be out seeing the sites and using the hotel to rest and sleep. Staff was great and very friendly - all of them! Good security, close to food and short walk to shopping and beach. I would recommend The Ambassador as an affordable, safe location that is convenient to local sights.

The rooms could use refurbishing. That being said, we were pleased enough to make multiple stays there. The hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful - from the maid, the maintenance man to each and every person behind the desk, always a smile and a greeting! There is a small convenience store right next door. Security was not an issue either […] in this area with Waikiki Beach a very walk-able short distance away. I would guess that the Ambassador Hotel may be similar to many others in the area, but their staff is what very well may set them apart. I would not hesitate to book there in the future, and I would recommend it to friends. I would suggest renting a car in order to see the entire island and spend as much time as you want at various stops. It would cost you about half the cost of a basic one-day rental just in cab fare from the airport anyway, so for me, it was worth the convenience of having a car at my disposal to see the sights.So yes - THE AMBASSADOR HOTEL is certainly worth consideration if you are planning a trip to the Honolulu / Waikiki area.Enjoy! The location was not to bad as it was only about a 10min walk to main Waikiki Beach. We were greeted by a new staff member who seemed to struggle checking us in. THis lead to problems when checking out especially in regards to parking. They tried to charge us for 4 nights when we only used it for one. I enjoyed my stay at the ambassador Waikiki. The room decor was quite outdated but everything else with the room was great. I stayed at a hotel across the street for a few nights prior and that hotel pailled in comparison to the ambassador. Hotel staff pleasant, however, I arrived at 1am do to airflight cancellations and was awakened at 6am every morning by the loud alarms of backing up tour busesor garbage truck under my balcony. The Ambassador appears to be one of the former great hotels in the Waikiki area. Located at the edge of the main tourist area. Now her greatness has faded. While not a five star hotel, it was a delightful place for us to stay, convenient to our needs in Honolulu. The staff was exceptionally courteous and quickly responded to our requests. We definitely would stay there again.

Decent pool, large and with umbrellas. Super convenient, next to bus routes. Walking distance to convention center, waikiki beach, stores, and cross section roads.

Not only where the people behind the desk RUDE almost everytime I spoke to them the rooms feel like a prison cell and the best part they failed to notify me that I would not be able to use the pool durning me stay which was what we had planned to do with our time while we stayed there....

Hotel staff was very helpful. The only down side is the wifi was super slow. Great if your just on the web looking around. Slow if you are trying to download a movie. I really liked how right outside the front door is a coffee place and a confidence store. Thank you to all of the staff for making my little vacation pleasant and relaxing.

This place is a joke when it comes to checking in. Very rude... not that Hawaiian friendliness that everyone else shows on the island. Had to add a extra night stay at there Hotel, which was not sold out. It was like pulling teeth. everything else was ok for the $.

Decent hotel, old school, super friendly staff, clean, large room, but a bit 'dated'. I prefer to save money on my room and spend it instead on my activities/dinner/drinks. The only recommendation I would make is to maybe put a microwave in the kitchen., would definitely stay here again.

the owners have a 'grand -ol' lady i.e.appointments are dated but are well kept;she is trying to compete with younger hotels and all it takes is some make-up and her 'smile' will come back with spirits uplifted.....in any case,we'll come back again to enjoy her gracious hospitality.

The hotel has a apartment like feel to it. But it's affordable and walking distance to many attractions in Waikiki. If you're on a budget, this is a nice place to stay. Good customer service. Dealt with 4 different staff there, and all were very friendly.
