"A Descent Stay"
This hotel was descent and worth the money. There were a few minor irritations though: The hospitality and basic manners of the front desk staff was at times lacking. The front desk staff rarely acknowledged me. Only a few times did anyone say hello when I walked in the bldg. One front desk worker even continued typing away on her iPhone and completely […] ignored me. Apparently due to Indiana law smoking can occur only 20ft away from the building. However groups of people would congregate 10ft in front of the entrance and chat and smoke. This occurred nightly at 11pm and later. My room was near the entrance so I heard the chatter and smelled the smoke. At times I even had to walk through a cloud of nicotine to even enter the building. Suggestion: make a new smoking zone out back, not in the front of the building! And discourage large groups from having smoking conventions at midnight! The location was the best. It's within walking distance to a nice Starbucks and you can easily drive to restaurants and shops. I was disappointed to discover that the regular maintenance of the room (towels, beds) is an extra charge. there were lots of things I did not need (cooking facilities, fridge. "Change carpet & curtain"
Location and housekeeping were above average. I rented 2 rooms for my family to see a ND football game, 2 nights. These were obviously smoking rooms for some time - the smell was overpowering. Not impressed with the North location. Rented 3 rooms. One room smelled like smoke. Also during the middle of the night a hotel employee used a key and enter our room with another individual. I booked 2 rooms for an ND football weekend. Staff was friendly, location excellent. Both rooms were, at one time, smoking rooms. The smell was overwhelming. Simply change the stained carpets and curtains and the ratings would increase tremendously. Won't be back unless they do. If they do - I'd return. "not a good value"
The outside of the hotel looked very new. However once I got it my room I found my self in a very old room. It smelled very musty like someone smoked a lot in there. Everything was OK. After usually staying at Marriott's or Hiltons I knew I wasn't going to be as pleased as I do with them. For the price it was fine, but it wasn't the cleanest place. For example, I left to go get food and there was a towel that looked like someone has used it to clean up something gross next to the elevator. I don't think the toilet in my room had ever been cleaned. I asked the front desk to get it clean and it was never cleaned properly. Also,I dropped my lotion cap and it rolled under the bed. Non-smoking room had a weird mixed scent of smoking and what I assume was something to mask the smell. The room was ok but a little dirty and housekeeping didn't do much. This was my first time staying at an Extended Stay America Hotel. I am sure I will not stay at one again. At least the particular hotel. My room was quite dirty. The carpet needs cleaned badly, it felt gross to the touch and had a lot of staining. The arm chair in the room looked and smelled like it was taken off the street or a dumpster before being […] placed in the room. This chair had nasty stains all over it and was an eye sore that I didn't want to touch or go near. I was only at this hotel for one night so I did not use the kitchen. "Not a clean place to stay"
Room was not clen when provided. Moved twice. Construction workers were using the hotel and left the floors very dirty - which were not cleaned before providing the room. I put my parents there to visit family back home. They usually have no problem with noise or animals but the floors were so dirty that they asked to be moved twice. "Dirty, Unkept - Must Have Changed Management!!!"
When we checked in the whole place smelled poorly. There were LOTS of dried spills, crumbs and HAIRS in our room. We had to go ask each day to get fresh towels and one day after asking was told they were out. We have heard from people who have stayed here before that it didn't used to be this way. The hotel was okay - it is in a great location on Main Street, but it lacked what I normally look for in a hotel: clean rooms, basic necessities, and a strong internet connection. The room I was in had Cheeto-orange stained bed coverings, and a dysfunctional toilet. "Read all details before you book!"
The room looked very nice an granted the price was very nice. I don't think it was as clean as it should have been. It does indicate that the room is not cleaned every day, not cleaned until the 8th day, however you have to look in the fine print for that. Also it indicates that you get a continental breakfast. The hotel describes it as " grab and go" […] breakfast, which means, they have coffee, fruit, and granola bars....nothing more. Also, there is no printer available for guest use, which was a bummer. Since it was listed as a 2.5 star facility I did think something like that would be available. They have a Golden Corral across the street, and that breakfast was fantastic. Good location. Stayed two nights. Cable television was out the first night and some of much of the next day. No hot water the first morning and virtually all of that next day, not even warm. Pet odor was evident in the room and carpet was stained. Rest of room, bed linens, kitchen, and bathroom appeared clean. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. "Unclean & stinky"
Non-smoking room stunk of smoke. We opened a window to get fresh air and the car dealership next door played music through their lot all night long. Walls, towels, doors all had stains/finger prints.
