The University of London and the British Museum give Bloomsbury a bookish air. Charlotte Street offers good restaurants, while Tottenham Court Road has electronic stores to suit all budgets, and links to the 300 shops of buzzing Oxford Street. Trendy Soho is a few minutes away by foot. Full of local character, it offers interesting pubs, top restaurants, West End theatres and a rich, sometimes risqué nightlife.

"loved my stay"
Hazlitt's is probably not for everyone. If you are looking for the W don't stay here however ifyou are looking for personalized and unique experience stay at Hazlitt's. It is a warm cozy environment. It is a very old house so it has it's quirks. Very quiet for a central London location and steps away from Oxford street, wonderful restaurants and theatre. […] I was there for business, the tube was steps away to get ot the office. The staff is wonderful, helpful. Highly recommend. Hotels.com

"Great boutique hotel in the centre of Soho"
Stayed here a few times, along with it's sister hotel the Rookery in Clerkenwell. The rooms and service make for a special stay. Tucked away in a bustling part of town, close to theatre, restaurants, bars and clubs. The hotel itself still retains an air of calm. Hotels.com
"An oasis in the heart of the city"
A lovely welcoming country house style hotel. We had an excellent stay. My only negative would be the absence of any coffee making facilities in the rooms. Other than that - it was perfectความคิดเห็นจริงจากผู้เข้าพักของ Hotels.com
"Great location, great service"
We stayed for one night in the Duke of Portland room. It was lovely, full of character, very clean and very comfortable. Staff were welcoming and helpful. A lovely log fire in the lounge area made it feel like a home from home. Although Hazlitt's is located in the heart of Soho, there was no noise at all. The history of the hotel was fascinating, and […] added to the sense of grandeur. We have already recommended Hazlitt's and will be returning again. Hotels.com

Overall, the hotel is amazing - great rooms with lots of English character and the staff was wonderful! "Full of Character & Charm! Great location."
Stayed December 15th/16th 2012. Full of character, (300 years old!) lovely rooms, original 'leaning' staircase. Really convenient for the bars, restaurants, theatres and Oxford St. We went to Ronnie Scotts which is on the same road and 1 minute walk. Frith St is busy of course but quieter at the hotels end.

"A little gem in a great place."
A terrific hotel, more like a well furnished private home, warm, welcoming and as far removed from a corporate atmosphere as you could imagine. Our room was smallish, but clean, with a comfortable bed, flat panel TV and a quirky bathroom. It was cold outside so it was appreciated that our heating had been turned on prior to our arrival. They do have […] bigger and better rooms I am sure so hope to be able to stay in one of them on a future visit to London. Very well maintained and decorated, with a pleasant library and lounge for relaxing in after a show. Well stocked honesty bar allows you to choose your own measure and leave a note stating what you had and your room name. Soho is so vibrant that Hazlitt's provides welcome calm after a busy day out. Frith Street is completely central to Theatreland, Chinatown and no more than a five minute walk to Covent Garden. Most of the West End is walkable from the Hotel with Marble Arch less than a fifteen minute walk. Great restaurants, shopping and walking tours are all on the doorstep of this great find in the heart of London. I have no hesitation recommending this Hotel to anyone who is looking for a discerning establishment close to everything. The fact that breakfast is a limited affair is of no concern. You can find dozens of good value cafe's less than a block away.

We had a great time here. The only reason I gave room comfort a 4 was that we had some trouble with shower head but otherwise couldn't ask for better. A little oasis in sohoความคิดเห็นจริงจากผู้เข้าพักของ Expedia
"Great hotel in a great location"
This hotel is so close to it all. The tube station at Leicester Square isn't far off--about 5 mins walk. The British Museum and National Gallery are within walking distance. And the location has a number of restaurants close ranging from Chinese, Indian & tapas. There are also a number of pubs. There's a club across the street that keeps open late but […] the windows in our room kept the noise out. The room had so much character. The one downside was the bed. It was a little hard. I prefer softer beds. Hotels.com

"Quiet oasis in colorful Soho"
Fabulous location with all the great restaurants and bars right outside your door. Hazlitts is quiet and lovely with friendly, nice service. "Great stay at Hazlitt's"
The front desk was wonderful, very helpful. The only thing is they charge 10 GBL to use their adaptor plug, plus they didn't tell us that when we borrowed it. I believe that should be a free service ( our B & B in Dublin didn't charge us) that's a minor complaint. But the location can't be beat, right in the heart of Soho. And the room was comfy and […] clean, loved the shower/tub. Hotels.com

Completely enjoyed our stay at the Hazlitt's. Just what we were looking for on our first trip to England - old and quaint hotel filled with antiques and charm but still provided the essentials of today. Complimentary wifi with excellent access in the room, mini bar, large clawfoot tub for soaking, very comfortable bed with plush linens and cover. Staff […] was very curtious and helpful. Great location as well, with easy access to restaurants of every style, pubs, and shopping. Bus routes and Underground close too. "Just a lovely hotel through and through."
Hazlitt's Hotel is one fantastic hotel built in 1718. It is located in Soho, and with that said, the place was just ideally situated. It is within a five-minute walk to Leicester Square tube station. One can take the Piccadilly line from Heathrow, and in forty minutes or so, and one can get off the train at Leicester Square. (And for die-hard Harry […] Potter fans, just half a block north of the station, just off Charing Cross Road is the alley used in the film as the entry to Diagon Alley.) The hotel is beautiful with a lot of character that can really take one back in time. Our room, Madam Kennedy, even had an entry with a bookshelf (I called our mini library) with doors leading to the room and another to the bathroom. Our room is pictured in this review. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We arrived at 9:00 AM, well ahead of check-in time. I asked if we could just store our bags somewhere in the meantime until the proper check-in time so we could start exploring London. Instead, they got us our room that early with no additional charge whatsoever! They even let me borrow an outlet adapter since I forgot to bring one. One morning I was awake at 3:00 AM and couldn't go back to sleep, so I walked around the hotel finding these lovely rooms for hotel guests use, and the front desk person offered to make me a cup of English tea. Soho, however, is a bustling place every night. So if you want some peace and quiet, ask for a room far from the street (Frith St.)

"Shabby Sheak, but lacked atmosphere."
We were looking for a romantic retreat in the heart of the West End with a biz of a buzz. It was a nice hotel, great location, very quiet so good for relaxing but it lacked a bit of atmosphere. My partner and I wanted to have a drink in the bar, but it was an honesty bar where you had to buy a whole bottle if you wanted wine. Which would havebeen ok […] if there were more people there. We made do with a G&T. Also no restaurant that I could see. Ideal if you want to stay in your room. We were looking forward to a cooked breakfast but only pastries and porridge. However we had a lovely breakfast at The ST John hotel near leicester sq. Perhaps I should have done my research better!
"Spectacular property with 5 star service"
We stayed two nights here because it is where Anthony Bourdain stays when he is in London. We were having difficulty booking a helicopter tour and once I turned it over to their staff, they arranged everything for us. The room was huge by European standards and furnished with spectacular antiques. Our bed was from 1740...37 years before America was […] born. The location is perfect for sight seeing, and while in the heart of London, on a very quiet end of the road that leads up to very high end night clubs, bars, and restaurants. We had breakfast in the library one morning and the food was good and the perfect setting to start our day. "Tranquil retreat in the heart of it all"
I've stayed at Hazlitts and its sister hotel The Rookery many times now and the place never fails to impress. Beautiful rooms, excellent service, and a great atmosphere that forces you to relax. Great to share with someone special. The furnishings are wonderful, the fabrics are opulent, the literary connections are tangible, and the bathrooms are wonders […] of updated Victorian engineering!! Once behind the green door you could be in a fine townhouse - people walk past within touching distance and don't realise that this is even a hotel!! Convenient for Soho and all that offers - good food, Ronnie Scott's, life in all its forms, and those naughty shops that we all want to go in really don't we?! Covent Garden and the theatres are within close walking distance - couldn't be better. To my mind the best place to stay in London by far. Hotels.com

"Lovely."
This hotel is a gem, ideally located and makes for a calm oasis in the centre of Soho. We were given a really warm welcome and despite the fact that we arrived early only expecting to drop off our bags were told that our room was actually ready for us (I did feel that we had been given special treatment, which was lovely). You can really tell how much […] thought has gone into the restoration of the building and rooms with the quality of the finishes, furniture and decorations all adding to the experience. Our visit was to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday, just a one night stay before going for lunch on the Orient Express. She was suitably wowed and I'm so relieved I booked Hazlitt's over any of the other options I had seen. For anyone looking for something special with beautiful architecture and character this is the place. If you do visit please make sure to read the origin of the room names which is fascinating in itself (we certainly didn't invent scandal!).
"william Dunbar room"
we booked a superior room. This turned out to be on the top floor of the hotel (no lift in our side of the hotel) The room was furnished in Edwardian style but most of the furnishings were tired and well past their best. No tea making facillities, no shampoo etc. The bathroom fittings were not good very difficult to stop taps dripping, the shower door […] was not good causing the flor to be soaked each time we used the shower. We ended up using the bath. We had no control over the temperature in our room, radiator valves were jammed open and there was no thermostat. There was air conditioning with stat but the room was cold - heating off during the day so air conditioning only made it colder. The staff were very pleasant and the library with open fire was very nice, bht for the cost, we have had much better value very close to this location Hotels.com

"Hidden gem in Soho"
I'd never been to London before, but when I walked into the Hazlitts House, I knew that I'd chosen correctly. Hazlitts House has all the amenities you need, but none of the posh or "it" that you could find at other places. But that's not what they stand for, so I can't ding them for not having it. "A touch of theatre in the heart of the West End"
Hazlitts is a relatively new hotel that trades off the age of the building and lashings of repro furnishiings to create an 18th century ambiance. Rooms are named after literary contempories of Hazlitt (an accalimed essayist and critic) and offer dark wood and gilt opulance with modern quality. This is not a cheap hotel, but it is well-priced next to […] its (non-repro) hiostorical hotel brethren. It is also very well located. 2 minutes to Shaftsbury Avenue and 5 minutes to Picadilly Circus. The surrounding streets are full of trendy wine bars and restaurants, and after 9.00pm there are some interesting characters about amongst the normal throng of well-heeled Londoners. Hotels.com

"Charming Hotel"
Hazlitt's Hotel, situated on Frith Street just off Soho Square is a charming hotel that would satisfy any Anglophile. Dating back to the 1700s, the hotel has charm, unique furnishings and antiques throughout. The library, a common room off the lobby, is a pleasant place to sit and chat, read, or enjoy a drink from the "honesty bar". The staff is pleasant […] and helpful. While my family loved Hazlitt's, I would be remiss if I didn't mention a few things that might not suit everyone. I have never been to a hotel without and alarm clock in the room--so we had daily wake up calls----no automation here--the reception staff would call us so be prepared to answer cheerily! (This of course is charming in itself!) An iron/ironing board was not present, but if you ask, they will provide you with one. There is no dining room but breakfast (nicely presented and tasty) will be provided to you in your room at a requested hour. This can be pricey, but there are nice coffee shops down the block as well. Each room is different. My daughter and I stayed in the John Raphael Smith room---lovely with a beautiful shower. My husband and son shared the Earl of St Albans room--claw foot tub with hand held shower attachment--not as convenient or spacious as our room. The hotel is a seven minute walk to the Leicester Square tube station which is a rather raucous area at night. And lower Frith Street is also bursting at the seams with pub and cafe patrons. Hazlitt's is worth a look!
