After staying there, I do not know why I go anywhere else.

This hotel is well worth the money -if not more I stayed in a different hotel the night before it was twice the price and definitely not worth the money I was completely happy with microtel I will most definitely use them again

I had asked for a non smoking room and when i got to my room it smelled as if someone had just finished a cigarette. The window was left open and there were 2 empty beer cans in the garbage??? I hated the way this room smelled!!!

The only negative that I have to share is that the rooms on the side of the building that face the expressway are somewhat noisy. I could hear trucks going by in the night. Other than that, good place to stay. My room was clean, as was the common areas, and the staff was very friendly. They always said hello when I was passing by.

Very clean, comfortable, and convienent at a great price.

Overall this was a decent hotel - no frills, but clean and comfortable, location is fine. One particular staff member - a young blond lady - ruined the stay by sheer rudeness. Her behavior went beyond rude to belligerent. The rest of the staff was fine.

The hotel is very clean for the price that I paid. My stay was comfortable and staff were very friendly. The only complaint I had was I could feel that it was a smoking room and I believe they know about it but put a non-smoking label on the door and allotted.

A nice, basic, motel just outside of town. BUT, all the hallways (and my non smoking room) smelled of smoke. Apparently there are smoking rooms on all floors and the odor just spreads throughout the motel. The staff was very nice. The room rate was very reasonable. The breakfast was OK given the price. Overall the hotel served its purpose for price, location, and proximity to ISU. However, the cleaniness of the room was not acceptable. The carpet in the room was very dirty. The carpet needs a very good shampooing. The cleaning maid for our room was horrible. She never made the beds only threw the covers on. I recommend the place, but it's a few miles out of town along with several other motels in the middle of nowhere. probably makes sense for a football weekends...

Very convenient location off interstate. Just a few minutes from the Iowa State capital. Breakfast had selections for our whole family. Good value for the price.

Although the front desk was very friendly, I could hear people in the next room speaking at normal conversation levels. The chairs were streaked with some sort of white substance and I refused to sit on them. Breakfast was low quality. For similar price, the Fairfield Inn across the street is better - I stayed here because it was full.

Everything was more than adequate, service, comfort and cleanliness. Could not ask for more.

This was a great experience. The hotel was conveniently located off of the highway. It was clean and I would definitly stay here again.

Just had a stop over in Ames and wasn't really looking for a "full amenity" hotel with a pool. The rooms were clean, very little noise and service was prompt and friendly. Good hotel for the price.

Not sure why you would put smoking rooms across the hall from non-smoking rooms. The halls reek. Other than that, a good place for the money.

Best Economy Hotel we have every stayed at. Only reason to spend more would be to have a place with a pool and bar.

We had a good experience at this hotel. The room was relatively small but clean and the ammenities were up to date. The staff was fine, not overly friendly but also not rude. The breakfasts that were provided while we were there were also pretty good.

We were very pleased with the location, the room size and the price of this hotel. Would use this chain again in the future.

Many times when staying at a less expensive hotel, you wonder what you're sacrificing to save a few bucks. With Microtel, that is never a question. The hotel is maintained in a modern condition (hallways, rooms, etc.). The rooms are clean and rooms have flat screen TVs. Arrived and the first two rooms I was sent to did not have maid service. Third time the desk clerk checked the room before I did. Having the room not ready is a rare occurrance in my travels. A slight inconvenience at the start. The room was comfortable and clean. I believe they provided me an upgrade due to the double mistake - fridge and microwave. Duff […] Avenue (1 mile West) has a variety of restaurants and shopping. Old downtown Ames (also West) is close with more restaurants and bars. Breakfast was a typical. My wife and I spent the night at this hotel during an evening where a few high school and college teams were staying in the same hotel. The walls were thin and we heard anything and everything these young adults were doing just outside of our room. I notified the front desk personnel and he assured me that he would do a sweep of the hotel around quiet […] hours. The rest of the evening was as loud as before. The location was close to our destination and breakfast was ok. The beds were really comfy and the smartest thing was the bed over the air conditioner. Wish we had known that last summer when we went on vacation. My kids didn't want to sleep with each other so we took along an air mattress and had to pump that up every night and take it down every morning. We will remember these hotels for future vacations.

Our hotel room was very clean and comfortable. it included your typical continental breakfast. Great place to stay for the price. We would definitely stay there again.

The overall experience was good. I did have a couple problems. The shower head came off and sprayed the entire bathroom. This made a mess and caused me to be late for my morning event. The staff fixed it while I was gone. And the refridgerator in my room did not work. service was good, hotel was clean, breakfast was o.k. but rooms were small and bed was hard. Slept good however but would stay in a larger room next time.

The room was very comfortable. Linens were fresh and plush. Room was quiet. The breakfast was so-so. It's about what you'd expect from a similar chain; continental plus biscuits and gravy (stay away from the biscuits unless you get them right at 6 when they first bring out the breakfast items, any time past that and they're liable to be hard.

Wireless internet did not work. Receptionist says it happens a lot. Wasted night time without doing business

I picked this hotel because the rate was great and the online reviews were good. The first floor of the hotel is smoke free, but I stayed on the second floor where smoking is allowed in certain rooms. The people in the smoking rooms would prop their doors open to aerate their rooms in the evening. I could smell the smoke in my room on the first night […] but I put a towel at the bottom of the door and solved the problem. The second night it seemed there weren't as many smokers staying on my floor. I didn't complain because I should have checked whether or not they allow smoking in the hotel before booking the room. the comforter on the bed seemed a little dingy.. color not as white as I would expect.

The hotel is clean and confortable for the price. We did request for microwave and refridgerator since they didn't come with the room. We had to pay $10 extra but that covers both nights! Breakfast bar was great. I'd recommended this hotel to anyone else.
