The picture that is shown is of the new building where the lobby and some rooms are located. What they do not mention or show in the pictures is that most of the rooms seem to be in buildings surrounding the main lobby. Those buildings are very old and run down. I liked the room and the Hotel. Breakfast was a joke. VERY close to Cedar Point

I enjoyed the stay it was a comfortable stay and close to cedar point and shopping areas. I will be staying at this hotel next time is go to cedar point.

This hotel was in a convenient location, but overall very unsatisfactory. It was outdated, not maintained, the continental breakfast was horrible and it was overall not worth the money.

My family and I planned a Cedarpoint trip. I did a little researching to find a clean, affordable hotel that was located near the amusement park. I stumbled upon the Southshore Inn when a hotel.com rep referred this hotel to me after I was unable to make a reservation with my 1st choice. The hotel is about a 5 minute drive to Cedar Point. The continental breakfast is good with staff on hand to repleniish supplies as they run out. The pool looked nice, but we didn't have the occasion to use it. Those are the only good things I have to say about this hotel. The rooms were small and very rundown. They do not supply bottles or bars of shampoo […] and soap, and you must rely on dispensers which of course you found empty once you were wet and in the shower. The toilet would run and you had to take the top off and jiggle the device to make it stop. The toilet also got plugged and I had to get a plunger and unplug it myself as front desk were too busy to help. The phone was just a prop, there was no cord running to the phone jack. When I went to front desk to ask for soap to be put in the dispenser I was ignored as the cerk was talking to some techy guy about her computer. Hotel room was disgusting. Not clean - socks and a hairnet left on the floor in what was supposed to be a "clean" room. Bathtub did not drain and as a result, hair from others came back up into the tub. Lights did not work, air conditioner was old, and room had a bad smell. Room smelled of MOLD! Comforter had large brown smear on it, when i asked front desk for a new one a teenager brought it up to room did not offer to remake the bed, hair dryer did not work in room, or did the out let, I was very disappointed on how much we paid for the room and what we received, which is a filthy room for my family.

The convenience of the hotel to Cedar Point was great!The price we got was a night which wouldn't of been bad ,but the rooms are not what they appear to be on the web site. First impression was good. The lobby was quite impressive, a little dated and a little more extravagant than the rooms. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bath was clean but definately dated. It appeared as tho the tub had been resurfaced and the surfacing material was peeling off in a couple places. There was one very very stained upholsered chair in front of the window and one hard chair placed at a small rectangular table across from the foot of one bed, on top of which we placed our luggage. Every room I've ever been in provided a small table and two soft chairs, in addition to a dresser with a surface for luggage placement and organization. The free continental breakfast consisted of juice, coffee, tea,toast, dry cereal and waffles. Overall the room was adequate and comfortable but, in my opinion, overpriced. Not worth the money. Stay elsewhere.

Not enough towls. TV remote did not work. Towl rack broken. One of the lights did not work. Room smelled "funny" & that continental breakfast they advertise is a joke!

South Shore is a good choice for anyone visiting Cedar Point. It is relatively close to the amusement park and was a quiet, comfortable inn. Staff were friendly and efficient and conveniently let us back in the room shortly after we had checked out to retrieve an item left behind. Good restaurants, i.e. TGIF are nearby.

Close to Cedar Point and the price was OK. Nothing spectacular. A fridge and microwave would have helped.

We arrived shortly after lunch, but was allowed to check in early with no extra cost, because our room was ready. Std room has small fridge, but no microwave. Located less than 5min from Cedar Point. Onsite Thai restaurant served excellent food. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean. Outdoor pool was well-maintained and larger than expected with 2 water slides, and a large hottub.

The bathroom and room itself was small. We had spider webs in the ceiling corners and stains on the curtains, floor, and bed. The staff were very friendly and the pool was nice.

The convenience to cedar point and the price are tough to match. However, the age of the hotel would probably prevent me from returning in the future. nice friendly people, close to Cedar Point, check out time great, check in is a little later than hoped but they are very nice to go in and talk to them. disappointed in the breakfast

Reasonably priced, very clean hotel with good service. Showers slightly small for larger people, but manageable. HOtels.com posted that grills were available, but they have never had grills available...........not sure who erred in this, web site or hotel.

The pool had so many bug floating on it. The room's carpet was dirty. The shower was out of soap and what little soap there was left me feeling filthy. The towels smelled weird. And it was really hard to get the fans to stay at a good temperature.

You get what you pay for. This best sums up my stay at South Shore. My girlfriend and I chose this hotel due to it's location near Cedar Point. Could not have asked for a better location. Two right turns and a mile and half later, you were at the park. Easy access into and out of the park with plenty of dining nearby and a Fridays within walking distance. […] The room was clean for the most part, minus some bugs that had collected behind the bed. But that is not surprising the time of year and the pests we experienced at the park and near the lake. The bathrooms were clean. The beds could have been more comfortable but it's what I was expecting with the rate we paid. The best part was that we flipped the room over and searched everywhere and found no signs of bed bugs, which as our biggest concern. The front desk was polite and breakfast was served every morning. Had no issues with breakfast not being available as some other reviews have described. We were even served breakfast early the day of checkout which was nice. the fact that this hotel has a 3 star on hotels .com befuddles me ... had there been a courtyard or a hilton i would have stayed there.. extremely overpriced for the quility..

Pillows and bed were VERY uncomfortable. Difficult to get any sleep. Very disappointed breakfast did not start until 9 a.m. as we had to leave before then. However the price was good.

Room was clean enough, no tissue boxes, one garbage can for 4 people, soap dispensers for hand and shampoo which were both the same (1st time I didn't bring our own) not a working alarm clock, no coffee pot in the room, only extra outlet was by the sink, had to put luggage on the floor, pillows were very flat and in need of replacing. We enjoyed our stay. We arrived on Friday and left on Sunday. Very clean, nice pool. Only one complaint we didn't have a fridge in our room, but we did have an iron and ironing board which i used. Nice place, only down the road from Cedar Point, we will stay there again on our next trip to Ohio

Staying in a family suite, there was plenty of space to spread out.

typical of any open-to-the-outside hotel, this was was a bit noisy with the pool outside and people milling about. My room had several dead bugs in corners--I'm grateful I saw no live ones. A couple of our lights didn't work. The pool are was fun with the water slides and hot tub. The free continental breakfast was cereal, donuts, milk, OJ, and coffee. […] It was a quick 5+ minute ride out to Cedar Point. We chose this hotel because of good reviews, closeness to Cedar Point and the family suite option. All 6 of us stayed and it was very comfortable. We were very surprised at the condition of the hotel, very up to date and clean. The pool and jacuzzi were very nice and clean.
