I have been staying at this hotel a few times a year for many years. It may not be the most "up to date" hotel, but the warmth of the staff, the unique layout and history, and the great location make it my first choice in the area. The breakfast is great and the coffee is always on. Really, what more could you want?

Really no other way to describe this place other than just plain bizarre.

Just stayed for one night, but it was very nice. Even served a free full breakfast. Wasn't counting on that and was a real benefit, since we didn't have much time before we needed to catch a plane.

The staff was friendly, I arrived pretty late but was able to secure a parking spot. There was also available street parking. The neighborhood seemed decent. I walked around at night with no problem. I would recommend it.

I know it's Berkeley but my room was never cleaned in the two and one-half days I was there and it felt uncomfortable to have a homeless man walk in every morning, grab some food and plant himself in the front room as if he owned the place (maybe he does?). The location is good but it's not high on my list.

I have enjoyed several welcoming stays at the Rose Garden Inn, while visiting relatives nearby. It 's a dependable great place to stay, with thoughtful people hosting the desk 24/7, a very nice serve-yourself breakfast bar, and a very easy place to entertain, hang out, or get work done. My first stay was in the attached historic second house, full of […] amazing sitting areas and vistas. The second stay this month was in cozy main house, with two gas fireplaces available. About the only drawback was the room this time was quite small. also, it was a bit chilly so I was glad to find the heating unit with control over temperature that worked right away. This hotel has some character for sure. Very friendly service and the room was clean. What else do you need? They had parking and it was in a convenient location for us.

Staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very good in a relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely stay at RGI on our next visit to the SF area.

We were in the process of moving for my job and needed a place to stay until our flight out. We have a service dog and everyone treated up with respect and went out of their way to make the entire family happy. The room was great, large and very clean. My husband particularly loved the big screen TV. We would definitely stay here again.

This B&B offers a hospitality and air of community that is rare to find today. The staff was approachable, friendly and helpful, and made me feel quite welcome while there. Breakfast was nothing less than a feast, and if you stay in the main building, as I did, the aroma makes for a wonderful alarm clock. The room was clean, and honestly, the bed was […] so comfortable that I pulled up the sheets the next day to find out what type of mattress they'd bought! (I confessed to the gentleman at the front desk, so they wouldn't think I was some houligan who had ransacked the room.) The only knock on this hotel is the parking. It's best to park along the street (Stuart Street), because the parking lot is impossibly tiny with parallel parking places. You've got to walk a bit of uneven terrain through the garden to make it to the front desk, so when you check in, leave your bags in the car until you find out where your room is. Great staff. Beautiful inside and out. Room I stayed in should be for only one person only, to small. I give it a 8.5 on a scale of 10

This is a very quaint and beautiful little hotel in the middle of Berkeley. The location is great - lots of wonderful restaurants within walking distance, as well as a grocery store, and the neighborhoods are beautiful. The Rose Garden Inn has beautiful flowers, a lovely courtyard to relax in, and charming rooms. We did have a leaky faucet in our room […] and the hot water did not work in the sink. It's an older place, so you have to expect some quirks. We let them know before we departed and I'm sure it's been fixed. I spent many days in the hotel. The hotel is an old historic mansion, so you should not expect new walls, floors, etc. Service was top-rated. The crew works hard all day long. Breakfast was awesome and plentiful: sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, cereal, fruits, bagels, coffeee, tea, juice, and more.

We enjoyed our stay and will return. The decor is charming, the gardens a wonderful area to enjoy breakfast. The breakfast buffet was generous and complete. The staff was very friendly. Our room was small, but as expected from the online photo. Close to Berkeley.

Friendely , comfortable . Only real problem : PARKING . Otherwise , great .

Old but quaint, good breakfast, atmosphere, near eateries and just so Berkeley, love the patios, and gardens. Don't go if you have to be connected to the net or are a modern girl or guy,

We booked this hotel because of its proximity to our son's home in Berkeley. We will now be using it regularly. It is exceptionally quiet, clean and comfortable. All the amenities such as the breakfast, wifi, parking, etc. are first rate. The entire staff was particularly friendly and helpful.

The room was a little smaller than the pictures show, but it's still a cute little place...and they are more than accommodating! We had a small malfunction in our room, and they gave us a key to another one right away! And the breakfast is AMAZING.

This was a great place to stay. We made reservations 2 days before New Year's Eve. The location and price were perfect for us. Great breakfast!

Was planning to stay in the more commercial area of Berkeley when friends recommended I check out the Rose Garden. It was a real treat. A real neighborhood gem close to everything. This is where I'll be staying in Berkeley from now on. It's unique and the breakfast is great. GO bears!

Overall, a very nice place to stay. The only glitch was our room was not ready when we arrived but was ready a half hour later. We waited outside in the courtyard enjoying the beautiful garden! We stayed in a second floor room with 2 queen beds. The room was very nicely decorated with a fireplace and lots of windows. This is such a lovely place. My teenaged daughter and I were in Berkeley for a science event and to tour the campus (possible future college choice). It was convenient, but more than that it was homey, lovely, welcoming, and the breakfast was outstanding! It is not a cookie-cutter 'hotel' and that made all the difference.
