I have been staying at the Horizon for years, and overtime it has really gone down hill. The rooms are not terrible and the bathrooms are clean, but nothing about this place will leave you amazed or even excited to return. The nightlife is non existent, no card tables and only a few slot machines. But whats good about it is it's close to all the other […] casinos and thats about it. Front desk person was not very nice...she didn't seem to care that there was an issue with my reservation...she acted like I wad a bother. Seriously...I'm a paying customer! No Coffee!!!

The floor we were on was loud, There was no batterys in the remote, The floor was wet, And internet is 12 for one day not the greatest resort!

Hotel is in drastic need of refurbishing. Looks like it hasen't changed since the mid 70's. Carpet was old. faded and had ripples. Bath tub was beat up. Chairs had stains. Not to good we had no hot water in the morning and in the middle of the night the smoke detector started beeping also we had the do not disturb sighn on the door and house keeping knocked on the door at 7:30 am I am not satisfied with our stay at all

there is no tooth brush provided. pool amenities and the cable channels are limited not much to watch.

I have stayed here several times, and they have made an attempt to upgrade the rooms and facilities. But, the edges of the room were filthy, and we couldn't get the air conditioner to work, just hot, hot, hot. Couldn't sleep with such a temperature. But, improved and the price was right.

I booked this hotel online and it was what I had expected. The price was good for what the room was worth. I think they should of updated the tv but it was fine cause I didn't stay in the room long enough to watch anything. The worst hotel stay that we had ever. We do know that this hotel is not as expensive as others around, but we will definetely will spend more next time to stay other hotels around. We couldn't control the room temperature individually and it was so cold at night. THE HOTEL WAS NICE BUT THE ROOM WAS SO HOT THE AIR CONDITIONER DIDN'T WORK WE WERE ON THE 14TH FLOOR THE WHOLE FLOOR WAS SO HOT IT WAS SNOWING OUT SIDE AND STILL DIDN'T COOL THE ROOM THEY SENT UP A FAN IT RAN ALL NIGHT THE WINDOW WOULD ONLY OPEN 3 TO 4 INCHS TO GET AIR IN THE ROOM IF IT WASN'T SO HOT THE STAY WOULD HACE REALLY NICE.

This place is a run down dump! We had to ask front desk to change rooms twice before finding a room that didn't have some substance sprayed on the wall or on the carpet, that by the way is peeling up off the floors in every room we were in and all the hall ways The smell of the rooms were musty and not to mention the place is a sauna with no AC. Room is too hot and stuffy.

I booked the Horizon because my girlfriend and I went to see a show right across the street at the Montbleu. The price was right for an overnight stay. This is a very "no frills" hotel. There was only shampoo and lotion provided for toiletries, no conditioner...I hadn't see that in years. The 4th floor room was street-side versus lakeside - the hotel should think about doing something to the roof of the casino area, since it's very bland and boring. Good price and service but it's showing it's age. Definitely needs updating.

A reasonably-priced hotel well-located for shopping, skiing, and gambling. Don't miss the fabulous magic show, Illusion Fusion. Great entertainment for a nominal price!!!

Not a bad hotel, but lack of services was unfortunate. Beds were uncomfortable and AC/heat didnt work well. Lee in the bar downstairs was very nice, and pool tables were a nice addition. Check out the magic show! Cool hotel to.visit but should stay somewhere else.

We had no heat and no hot water and it was 28 degrees outside.

Goods: Great rates at the last minute for a group of 4. Able to get an adjoining room on a nonsmoking floor. Bads: Nothing bad, actually, but whole place had a dark/dreary atmosphere. Rooms definitely in need of updating. Cramped bathroom, with the rim of the toilet bowl actually protruding over the edge of the bathtub...strange installation design […] where a few inches must have been missed. Overall: Place was nearly deserted, which meant the casino was a ghost town and food services were very limited. Walked across the street for all food and fun. Stayed here about 4-5 years ago and it was a great price for a basic ski stay. However, this place is in decline-needs a serious renovation. This hotel/casino is definitely on it's way out of business!! The casino consists of very well spaced slot machines and video games. Not one single table on the floor. The buffet was never open during our stay, which was over a 4 day weekend, and the Four Seasons restaurant was so over priced we opted to dine elsewhere. We booked a Smoking King Room […] with a Lake View via Hotels.com, however, upon check in we were informed that smoking rooms did not have a lake view. Our room was in the 1960's tower with a view of the green pool and spa. Lake view rooms are in the newer tower which we weren't allowed in. I still can't believe we paid more than a Ben Franklin per night for an outdated room with uneven floors, a broken and patched bathtub, furniture that looked like it had been there for more than 30 years all in a hotel that doesn't have room service, in room coffee, in room frig or any other amenities we have come to expect in the most basic of hotels!!!! After talking with the Bellman we learned that the owners are just waiting out their land lease which expires in 2014. Then the place will close for good and that frame of mind shows everywhere you look. No pride of ownership. Don't waste your money! Got two rooms one for me and one for my son's friends. Easy check in, good location. Comfyish bed. The kids room was too hot would not go cooler. Decent restaraunt, lots of parking.

Lousy service. All rooms need major upgrades. staff does not know what they are doing.

Didnt have time to research all the hotels/casinos in S.tahoe so I booked this hotel a few days before a major holiday wknd (presidents day) since it was on the cheaper end and I assumed there would be a casino so it would be convenient for night time entertainment. When we got there check in was fast and easy. Room is outdated but none the less clean. […] The only complaint I have with the room is the SHOWER WAS HORRIBLE. NO HOT OR EVEN WARM WATER!! Tried to shower and let the water running on hot for a while and it was barely Luke warm until the end of my shower the water started getting maybe 5degrees hotter. For Tahoe where it's cold after a day of riding the slopes you need a hot shower!!! Then I go downstairs to gamble and find no tables just slots. Didn't the title say casino??!! Staff was very friendly, location was very nice. The only downside was the air conditioning didn't work so the room was a little warm, but they were kind enough to bring up a fan upon request.

the room was basic but clean

Well first of all I was sent to three different rooms. The first was still being used, the second one was still dirty and the third one had a great view of the air conditioners. It was supposed to be a lake view room and I even paid more for it. Not very happy with how I was treated.

Well if you want to stay in an uncomforatable bed with pancakes for pillows then this is the hotel for you. Food was lousy and the arcade where my kids wanted to hang out and have fun was shabby and not maintained properly with many games broken.

The Horizon offered the cheapest nightly rate amongst the 4 large casino hotels, and since we were only staying one night and wanting to save money we booked it. And now we can see why it was cheaper - the hotel feels old and run-down, the casino is like a ghost-town compared to the others on the strip, and the room was SO HOT and stuffy - extremely […] uncomfortable. very dated and worn

Hotel was over heated, room was no different, we tried using air in room to cool it off, but didn't work. Appearance of bathroom was very poor.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable enough, but the lack of individual heat controls meant I was uncomfortably hot and had no way to open a window to cool off the room (heat can either be on or off and the heat was off). Lakeview rooms had a great view in the morning.

Rooms were clean, front desk was friendly and helpful, buffet was very good and reasonably priced, elevators are old and one did not function properly, walls are thin, and of course, as everyone has stated the rooms are exceptionally hot. Stayed here in December and got a really good rate. The rooms are very dated and a little tattered but acceptable for the price paid. Afternoon front desk staff was warm and welcoming but unfortunately I could stay the same about the gift shop attendant and night front desk staff. Gift shop attendant was very short with us and in a total need of an […] attitude check. Forgot my key in the room after a night at the casinos. Stopped by the front desk at 1am to get a new one and to my surprise the desk was left unattended for 15 minutes. I eventually had to find security to locate the front desk agent who was apparently predisposed getting his late night meal from the kitchen. The casino was pretty weak, no table games and the floor was practically void of people. I would probably only stay here again if the other 3 casinos were sold out and had no other choice. Great room great price great service

The only good thing about this hotel is that its right by everything other than that the hotel is stuck in the early 90's and the service is Ehh...it has a warm feeling of an old K-mart lol

I felt dirty staying there. The lobby seems nice while checking in, but the casino was run down and depressing. The room itself was pretty bad. Climate control was impossible, the floor turned your white socks black and the re-painted tub was flaking up on the floor. Not a great experience, won't be back and wouldn't recommend to others.

Honestly, I don't think we could have stayed in a worse hotel. First, the rooms look like they are straight out of 1985. Second, our room was 1000 degrees every night. After the first night, we complained to the front desk, and their solution was to send us up a dusty old box fan. After the second night we complained again, and they offered to turn […] on the AC to our room; however, after 7pm the AC shuts off and the heat goes back on. Pathetic establishment.........hotel is beyond "old" it is DIRTY, UNKEPT....uncontroable heating - (windows do not open) constant 75* unberable! If housekeeping services a floor, how is it that they do not bend over and pick up trash on the carpets of the hallway? Same litter was there for 2 days - I finally picked it up myself. Bathroom was cleaned […] properly, but KNOW room was NOT vacumed in 2 days. Carpets are so frayed and streched looks like a moving river in the room, bathroom door was apparently kicked in - fingerprints on all doors and light switches. I could not have ask for a better place to stay, or a freindlier my accomadating staff. We were treated like royalty and hated to leave. we will go back!!!! If you feel like you want to be king for a week, head to Tahoe, stop at the "Monte bleu" and get the tuscan suite...........That my freind is as good as it gets James Powell-. 2012
