We used this spot as a base to discover Ayr and the surrounding tourism spots which included a great day out at Culzean Castle. It's on the coast with views which are good. Glasgow Prestwick Airport is very close by and the famous golf course troon is on the doorstep. The hotel has good staff who were friendly and accommodating. Our room was a double […] but on the small side but as it was on a short over night trip, the cleanliness, location and the breakfast buffet, along with the use of the health and fitness suite made it a Hotel I've no hessitation in recommending. At present The Barcelo in Troon is in the process of rectifying the situation by offering us a complimentary over-night stay. This will not take place until this weekend. Although informed weeks beforehand that my wife is wheat intolerant; there was nothing for her to eat at her afternoon tea and although we were assured that this would be rectified […] by breakfast, it was not. The Receptionist assumed that as we had to cancel our afternoon tea that the kitchen would automatically have made sure it would not be a problem for breakfast. My wife was left with a VERY limited choice for her evening meal, which due to the embarrassment we ate in our room. We had been told the Head Chef was present and would make anything requested, this turned out not to be the case. My wife was left feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable on what should have been a birthday treat. We have stayed in 3, 4 and 5 star hotels all over Scotland and have never been faced with such poor service. (including the Barcelo in Stirling). We went for breakfast late to ensure that staff had time to get provisions (which were available from the local supermarket. I know because we checked on our departure). On speaking to the Manager, we were assured that he would investigate and get back to us no later than Monday...only after complaining to their feedback forum did we receive any communication (On the Wednesday). The poor attitude and lack of attempt to rectify the situation at the time with any reasonable suggestions i.e. breakfast at 11 o'clock not acceptable. The setting of this hotel is ideal for leisurely walks and within walking distance of the shopping centre. The staff were polite and helpful and suggestions for dining out were very helpful. Excellent room and amenities spoiled by a mediocre breakfast

Very comfortable hotel in great position. Helpful and pleasant staff. My wife and I stayed with the intention of spending time relaxing in the spa area. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the sauna and steam room are needing refurbished and the jacuzzi is tiny. Pool surrounds:- only 2 loungers, 1 table, 2 chairs and 3 wooden benches around pool. So, disappointed […] and therefore didn't spend much time here. Breakfast was plentiful and good choice. Dinner at £25 for 2 course and £30 for 3 course in Fairways restaurant + wine £20 minimum. We decided to eat here first night. Good choice of menu and good quality food. Unfortunately, I wouldn't advise you not to eat here as they serve small child size portions. We left the restaurant hungry. Next night, we ate at the superb Scott's Restaurant at the harbour. Great meal and good sized portions. I would recommend this hotel to others for it's comfort and location, but avoid it if the purpose of your visit is relaxation around the pool or if you like decent portions of food for dinner. We arrived late in the evening it was blowing a gale and sleeting, we were dismayed to find the entrance to the hotel under scaffolding and the nearest entrance was at the back of the hotel via the Leisure centre. that's ok till the leisure centre closed at 10.00pm then to get from the car park to the hotels only front entrance took a good 4-5 minute […] walk, not funny in the cold and sleet!! the hotel inside was OK the room was comfortable enough but not up to the 4-5 star rating service was adequate but not overly helpful. breakfast was excellent once the waitresses had stopped talking amongst themselves and actually got around to waiting their tables!! อ่านเพิ่มเติม

arrived early and room not ready as expected so went into Troon and had lunch. Went back at 1.50, room not ready. went for a coffee. back to reception 3 times before receptionist called up to ask if room was ready yet. nearly 3 before we got into room. Not once did they suggest that someone would come and advise us the room was ready. Lovely location, great facilities including a graduated pool. Amazing breakfast! Beautiful Quality of produce selected and served with confidence by the kitchen and service staff. Knowing the Marine Hotel from living in Troon and visiting it on many celebratory occasions in the past I expected top quality accommodation. I found the service to be slow and necessities to be almost laughably unavailable, or extemely limited, for a hotel with an international reputation. I came because of the happy memories I had - one of which was […] celebrating my wedding reception there. I was disappointed on a number of different levels. I would expect such an institution to have a phone book, or at least staff who could gather needed information on line! I would expect international facilities to be readily available rather than be told the only converter had not been returned - until a new one was found on the last day of my stay! I was happy that I could be given internet access in the lobby, but frustrated that this was necessarily limited. very nice, sophisticated and convenient to Glasgow.

Our room must have been the smallest in the whole hotel. Very hot the sash windows needed tlc to keep them open. You literally could not swing a cat in it. We have paid less for a more superior room I cant see me going back. On a positive note the staff were very friendly and the gym was ok.

The setting is beautiful as is the hotel too. Inside it is in good condition and is clean and pleasant. The staff just seemed under trained it took over an hour to get a quick salad from the bar. Warm friendy welcome. All staff very friendly during our one night stay. Standard room was clean, warm and had everything you need. Excellent bathroom with good power shower. Breakfast has something for everyone, there were 3 vegetarians in our party who were well catered for. The hotel was very pleasant, as were all the staff encountered. The room had slightly more character than the average hotel room. Just a couple of maintenance faults - one lamp not working and a missing screw from bathroom swivel mirror. Booked the hotel 48 hours before we travelled and the price was absolutely fantastic. Still cant believe it. The hotel was exactly as was stated in the Hotels.com advert. The bed very comfortable and the sheets and duvet and quilts spotless and good quality. The first hotel that we have stayed in where we could hear the television. Small point but important, Freeview television with a perfect picture with no distortion. Believe it or not, everything was as it should be. Leisure facilities and lots of free parking. Lovely bar with good bar staff who actually spend time to speak to you. Breakfast was included in the price and was lovely. Good quality and no oil on the plates. Full Scottish Breakfast. Lots of cakes and breads. pleanty of juice and fruits.I can not find nything to say negative regarding the hotel or its staff. Beautiful views over the golf course and to the sea. Lovely meal in the restaurant. Unfortunate that part of the bar was closed off for a private function.

wonderfull setting with views over royal troon golf course and on to the irish sea, while enjoying a great meal in their resturant

This hotel was just as beautiful in person as it was on the website. The building is old and gorgeous, but the rooms are very comfortable and front rooms have a great view of the golf course and the beach/ocean. The restaurant's food was amazing, and I would have eaten there every meal if we had stayed more than one night. In the evening, we drove […] to a nearby car park at the beach, watched some local kiteboarders on the waves, walked along part of the Smuggler's Path, and drove around the town. Troon is a beautiful little town, and the beach is amazing. This was a place that I would definitely recommend to others, as well as stay again myself if I have the opportunity. Hotel was a good base for touring the area. staff friendly and helpfull. First hotel we have been to who had a porter to carry bags to rooms for a long time. As the hotel was quite old it had some nice charactor about it wood paneling, odd shaped rooms and from the outside looked like a red brick castle. Views of the Royal Troon golf course and the […] sea were plentiful. Although our room was small it had all that we required large towels changed every day and plenty of tea /coffee. nice leisure centre. Although in need of a little more refurbishment I would recommend to friends etc.. Overall a very good hotel and good restaurant which i would use again- only complaint is that the bar service staff were not very good. -Did not pay attention to what was being asked and had to repeat order a number of times, and was given wrong drinks - was all sorted but let overall service qulaity of hoitel down. Excellent choice of breakfast buffet

Was ok - but not what would be expected from 4* hotel could do with a facelift. Breakfast basic.

The hotel boasts a fantastic view from the from front entrance. Wonderful seating area for totally chilling out with spectacular views across the golf course to Arran.

A very nice hotel by the coast and situated next to Troon GC 18th hole. Nice swimming pool area and a great kitchen. The price is attractive especially when considering the location and the standard of the hotel.

We are very satisfied with everything from the room to the location. The breakfast was nice. It could have been served half an hour earlier (to enjoy it more and not have to rush to the airport) but all in all it was very good!

Hotel di buona categoria con vista sul mare e limitrofo a molti campi da golf. Piacevole l'accoglienza, buona la colazione. Vicino alla stazione per collegamenti verso Glascow.
