We really enjoyed our 5 nights stay at the Belleclair: The hotel personnel were really kind and efficient in fulfilling all our needs and requests. The location was wonderful - close to a subway station, with lots of nice places to sit for a drink as well as for a whole meal, and nice to walk the streets even when we came back really late. Our queen […] bed room was clean and cozy though a bit small. Too bad I got a cold water shower before my partner called reception and they told to keep the water running for about 5 min. to get them warm, which indeed solved the problem (2 min. were really enough). The newly redone (and lovely) hotel has done wonderful things with the rooms... Don't worry those little tiny AC units actually do a great job. The only drawback is the street noise (even on the ninth floor). Not much they can do to change this, but if there were a way this would be 4s all the way!

I was visiting my daughter with my 73 yr old mother, who has mobility and pain issues. The beds were so comfortable, and the room was very clean and though small, very nice. Location was great 3 blks. To Central Park 2 blks. To Riverside Park just off Broadway. Room was spacious and quiet, pretty clean only one window not much light. Staff and service were great.

Great lobby, great history behind, good area/ good price and the rooms are spacious, but the rooms' design is like a simple small NY middle class apartment - definitely a bit underwhelming.

Hotel Belleclaire was perfect for our needs. It was two blocks south of a subway station. Upper West Side is a nice, safe area. My wife and I were planning a visit to NYC to see our daughter, spend time with friends, take in museums and Broadway shows, and do some shopping. Our good friend who lives a block away suggested the Hotel Belleclaire and we were excited to find it "on sale" through Hotels.com. The coffee bar in the lobby was convenient in the morning. Complimentary NY Times (including Sunday edition) and USA Today were available in the lobby. Hotel Staff were courteous , friendly and helpful. Two quirks reduced our rating: on one day we had to ask 3 times for toilet paper and eventually my wife had to go down to the front desk to obtain it and the other was a leakage of water through the window while a crew was doing a pressure wash from the outside. Belleclaire is Newly renovated so rooms are fresh & comfortable; Staff is friendly & helpful. Only quirk -- our shower had no shelf (ie: no place for soap, shampoo, etc).

We had a double room that had a surprising amount of space for NYC, including a big-enough bathroom. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of closet space. Girls weekend away and we were extremely satisfied with Belleclaire hotel. Valet parking was great. And the location of the hotel was perfect, really close to the highway to enter and exit the city! I have stayed at The Belleclaire at least four times starting from the 90's however, I was very disappointed this visit. The lobby is still a work in progress and will be inviting upon completion however, the room that I had needed work and attention to detail. Not many extras. No restaurant. No private room for small gathering. Deluxe room was small. No bureau to store sweaters. Bathroom door couldn't open wide. Pedastal sink doesn't allow for cosmetic storage. Nice location on Upper West Side.

Location was great for a relax and peaceful holiday. Walking distance to museum and Central park. I would like to give two thumbs up for the fantastic customer service received during my stay. Although centrally located in the heart of the Upper West Side, the rooms are so tiny that unpacking a bag becomes a problem and opening the bathroom door to use the toilet isn't possible either. For two days our hot water didn't run and we couldn't get the air conditioner to work. The walls are pretty thin so noise from adjacent rooms is annoying. […] The Internet connection, although complimentary, frequently reported "too many connections" so it wasn't possible to use as a reliable business connection. Staff was nice. My 5th floor king size room was decent size, clean, and had all the usual amenities. My only complaint was the noise level from Broadway. The hotel was traditional and old, therefore as we were informed by the maintenance man, upgrading of windows etc was not made possible by the New York authorities as it was a listed building as such. The hotel staff were efficient and friendly, especially the housekeeping staff.

Now I'm just under 5'4" and a rather small person but this bathroom, especially the sink/faucet were almost too small for me. A bigger person might have a real problem. The lobby was spacious and offered coffee/tea all day. Nice on a blustery spring day in Manhattan.
