"STAY FAR AWAY"
I show up to this hotel after driving 2 hours to meet my girlfriend.... and the place is closed. I go around back to see if someone was at the back entrance... and there are bullet holes through the door. Screw that. Called Hotels.com and they fixed me up in a new hotel, apparently this one was closed for "renovations" but it seemed like maybe it was […] just.. closed, for good. Very dissappointed. This place is not fit to be online advertising how nice it is. The place was awful, not clean, it smell , the air con was not cooling, the chair in the room was filthy dirty. the pictures we saw on line were completely different then the room we got. you should sent a representive to check it out. "I AGREE WAS A FLOPHOUSE"
Upon arrival the desk employees was not dressed professional.The clerk tried to convince me to cancel and stay elsewhere. They didn't have reservations on file because they don't take reservations.The hotel was dirty. No air conditioning in the hallway on the 7th floor where my room was, it was 98 degrees outside.. There was no vending machines or ice […] machine that worked on our floor. The pool water was cloudy. The hot tub had dirty ring around it. The toilets were filthy in pool room. there was no club/lounge or cafe. No free breakfast.Maid service wasn't done second day we were there. I had to go get all clean towels myself. I'm sure the people who work there are good people but this hotel is rundown in a seemingly abandoned part of town. before going to the hotel was told no restaurant, because of remodeling , had no problem about that. But when arriving there, we asked about the pool, and how late it was open. The assist manager said as late as you want. We thought great. when we went up to the room the bathroom door would not close , it was coming off the hing, I kid you not!!! Later on that evening, coming back from frankenmuth, a U.F.C. fight was going on across the street and they were using the hotel parking lote and charging 5 dollar to park at the hotel , were we where staying and if we didn't pay , we had to park in the back of the hotel. Were we had no visual on our vehical.We decided to go swimming and a big sign at the pool says, HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED. With me being pregnant , didn't want to take a chance. There are some things it would be helpful to know BEFORE making a reservation. Upon checking in, the desk clerk explained that the hotel was involved in a struggle between the old owner, new owner and the bank. "The Worst Hotel In the World!!!"
Checked into room 319 to find the bed stripped, paper cups on nite stand,ironing board in middle of room. Re-directed to room 413 which was OK for the nite. Attempted to shower the next morning, NO HOT WATER!.Had to go without shower :-( . Next day when I returned to room,it had NOT been serviced by housekeeping. No restaurant, no gift shop. There were […] signs posted on elevator directing guests to 3rd, 5th & 7th floor for ice and vending machines. Vending mahines on 3rd and 5th floor did not work . The corridor on the 5th floor was littered with trash. There was no remote control for the TV and although I informed the desk of this, I was never given one. After 2 (two) nights of this I had had enough! Upon checking out I advised the desk clerk on duty of the substandard conditons and was met with excuses and attempts to shift the responsibilty elsewhere. --My room was not cleaned because I did not put the "clean up room" sign on my door. The clerk told me it was "illegal" for them to enter my room unless the tag was on the door. (although the room had been cleaned the previous day and I had not put the tag on the door. I was also told that I should NOT have gone to the 5th floor because they had a football team living there. As mentioned , there were signs posted directing guests to the vending machines on the fifth floor..I could go on and on but I'm tired of reliving this nightmare. One only reason I chose this hotel in the first place was because my sister-in-law was having surgery and the hotel was less than a mile from the hospital. The desk clerk never offered any apology for these horrid condtions , she just told me the hotel would not contest my early check -out. I waswas sceduled to be there sanother 3 nights---no-way. We booked this hotel on line but were rather disappointed when we arrived. First off, the exit to the motel was closed for construction and it took a while to finally arrive there. There wasn't anyone at the reception desk and we waited for over 15 min until we finally went and asked a man who was cleaning the carpets in one of the rooms what was going […] on. Apparently this motel recently changed hands but NONE of this was mentioned on their web site. The restaurant in the hotel was closed, there wasn't a compliementary breakfast, the pool was closed for cleaning and repairs and there was NO CABLE!! This hotel was fairly nice considering the city/town it was in. In the heart of Saginaw, MI it located centrally to all locations I needed to visit,and across from the city prime event DOW arena. The staff were fairly nice, I was not to fond of the late night or evening front desk host, as this young lady only offered glares instead of greetings and […] no proper etiquette to be in customer service and hospitality at that. The other host were nice, prompt and were able to get me answers or solution instantly.The many feature promised, I were able to utilize such as the WiFi, which was fair. The shower was not thoroughly cleaned. However, I was able amend this inconvenience and to my amaze the longer I stayed in the shower the hotter the water got..go figure! Kudos I seen a prior review in regards to the elevator not wanting to operate properly, that notion was not completely false but it did operate properly each and every time , it just took some time. Perhaps a calibration is in order, but I'm no elevator technical. I would suggest the ownership invest in a premier cable system, other than local channels. It would be a great investment. Although this may not be a priority as it appeared guest and customers were slightly scarce given the destination and the well needed tourism and events of the city. "Stay somewhere else and catch a Shuttle to the Dow"
I knew going in that this was not the greatest hotel, but thought for a night of fun at the Dow Event Center it was convenient. The only thing they have going for them is that it's directly across the street. Stay somewhere else that provides a shuttle to the dow. Restaurant and lounge were not open. Don't understand that as they could have raked in […] the cash on a Kid Rock weekend. Very inconvenient as there were no restaurants or bars within walking distance. After the show, around 11pm, lobby was packed with people trying to figure out where to go since the bar wasn't open. The front desk was no help at all and not even nice. I asked if he knew of any local bars, he shrugged and said I'm not from around here. Parking lot was chaotic upon check in, lucky to find a parking space as they were offering parking for the Dow as well. What if you arrived late and there was nowhere to park? They didn't really provide any info on where to park, just said find a space anywhere. As for the free breakfast, I'd skip it. They prepared the plates earlier and just microwaved it. Scrambled eggs were cold and bacon looked disgusting. I did eat the french toast. They did not offer any alternative to the free breakfast even if you wanted to pay. Like I said, restaurant was not open all weekend. Don't say you have one on your website if it's not open. Thank goodness for Papa John's pizza. They must have made a killing delivering pizzas like crazy all weekend. All in all, should have researched the shuttle thing at other hotels. We saw a few outside the Dow and we were wishing we had done that. I don't know how this hotel stays afloat. It is in dire need of updates. They need to work on their overall business plan. What can I say? It would seem as though the hotel is a family-run business, there always seemed to be the same people at the desk, who seemed as though they were family. They were VERY friendly and very nice people who did there best to accommodate us. Unfortunately, the hotel left a lot to be desired!! Our first experience was going up to our room […] in the elevator which didn't seem like it would open when it got to our floor... It left us a little uneasy! The beds in the room were not very comfortable, the television was very old, poor picture quality and only a few channels. The hair dryer was not in working order. Walls were very thin because we could hear talking going on in other rooms at all times. The second night of our stay we returned to our hotel at 10 p,m. to find that there were absolutely NO parking spaces available for us. There was an event at the big arena across the street and apparently the hotel is paid parking for these people. We were told that we could either park in a lane way and get our car later, or go for a ride and come back later! Again, the man was very nice, but we were not impressed that there wasn't hotel parking for guests! We had the same problem again the following night! One night we tried to come in the back door of the hotel to find our key cards did not open the back door. All in all, we would not stay again at this hotel!
