"Disappointed"
It was difficult to find and the place was hosting an alternative rock weekend which made the stay noisy, disrupting and uncomfortable. The escalators and elevator were not working properly and there were no washcloths in the room. The sheets were somewhat dirty and we had to park in a parking lot next door which was going to cost us an extra $15. "Worst hotel stay I have ever had"
My wife and I made the trip to attend my cousin's wedding in Lancaster, Pa. I booked a room at this hotel with a king-sized bed on a nonsmoking floor. When we checked in, the first room we were given had two double beds. No problem, mistakes happen. We went to the front desk and had them switch our room. We then were given a room with a king-sized bed […] but on a smoking floor. Strike two. We went down a second time and were given our third room, which was what we had booked. My wife and I went to my cousin's rehearsal dinner and returned to the hotel late that night. As we prepared to lay down, my wife noticed a stain on the throw pillow which turned out to be blood. To make things worse, the pillow case also had blood on it. It was obvious the pillow case had not been washed following a stay. A huge strike three. So at 12:30 AM, my wife and I were lucky enough to find another hotel and checked out of the Brunswick after letting the front desk know what we had found. "I don't recommend this place"
The only good thing about this one is it's close to the downtown. However, the room is not clean, towels are obviously been used more than years, because they are broken or have marks on them. The don't provide enough toilet paper or replacement them. TV is not functioning.
"Seen better days"
This place is a dump - get what you pay for. Used to stay here 20 years ago and its fallen into deep disrepair and neglect. Although convenient to downtown Lancaster, that's its only virtue.
"Pet Friendly?"
I didn't realize that the hotel was right downtown and that we would have to pay for parking. That added quite a bit to what seemed like a decent rate for a hotel stay. When I booked the hotel I requested a pet friendly hotel with a bar; we also booked a smoking room. When we arrived, got to the room and I began to read the literature about the hotel; […] come to find out it was not pet friendly. Oh well, my dog enjoyed stretching out on the extra bed. It was really amazing that the smoke free facility also offered smoking rooms. The continental breakfast was a joke. It was the most pathetic attempt at a breakfast I have ever seen; but it was free and I guess you can't go wrong with toast. Escalator did not work and elevators were very slow and confusing. room was very dusty and the bathroom was filthy!! not enough towels and the shampoo,lotion and comditioner bottles were open and used eewwww,just grossed me out!!

Its a nice older hotel in walking distance to shops and restaurants. The service was good. The rooms were a little shabby, torn curtains that didn't close all the way and threadbare towels. The pool was nice and warm but no towels were avail. for use there.

"Horror Hotel"
This was absolutely the worst hotel I've ever had to stay in. They're more concerned about the club (Paradise) inside than the hotel itself. The rooms look like they just put the sign outside and opened for business that day. We paid a lot of $$ a night clearly too much once we got there, I wouldn't recommend a one-night stand to this hotel. You have […] to pay $$ a day for parking and the parking lot is connected to the hotel. Overall I'm very dissatisfied with this hotel and will never return if I go to PA again. "Lancaster hotel"
The elevator and halls were dirty and dark, the room had a bad smell I am glad I was only there one night, I was going to stay 2 nights but one night was enough. escalaters were not running. The hotel clerk was very nice and did his job very well He should be in a better hotel.

"SAD"
I don't know exactly what have happened to this hotel. I seems abandoned and no maintenance shows on it, it really does need work. I recall when the RAMADA used to own this hotel, back then everything was superb, nowadays it's just sad on how this hotel is mantained. Our room was not clean. Had to ask for another. Escalator was out-of-order. Asked for more towels; staff was too busy so I had to go to Lobby to get them. Check out line was very long; only one person to wait on us. Stale smell from Ground Floor to Lobby Floor. Gave us a dirty Microwave.
"The worst hotel I've ever been in !!!!!!!!"
The staff were dressed in a non professional way. The hotel was dirty and we found ourselves in the "pitch darkness going to our first room. We used our cell phones to light the way. We attempted 2 other times to get a habitable room. We could not we left and stayed at Marriot.I would take this hotel off your list.

While the room was clean the hotel itself was anything but. The escalator up to the lobby didn't work. The front desk staff was unfriendly and unable to help with the surrounding area because they weren't familiar with the area. They did not validate parking nor provide discounted parking rates with the parking garge that was connected to the hotel. is a very old structure and probably requires high maintenance. our room had been remodeled and updated and was ok. the neighborhood was a little spooky, the convenience to the conference center was terrific and local restaurants were good. it will need a lot more work before I'd give it a 4 star rating. "Empty,empty, virtually unstaffed"
No one was around when we checked in. Escalators weren't running. We stood at the front desk for 5-10 minutes, rang the bell again and again, until finally someone came and checked us in. Told us we could park in the tow zone outside the entrance rather than pay for the parking garage if we wrote down our license plate. We did and the car was fine. […] Clear indication that we might be the only people staying at the hotel that night! Neighborhood was full of empty stores, some construction. Not appealing. When we returned from our evening party, again no one was in the lobby. I called down from our room for the wi-fi username and password, and no one answered. I guessed and got on the wi-fi. Heard a couple of doors shut later that evening. Departed the next morning, leaving our room key on the front desk that was, again, unstaffed. "Door did not lock."
The morning after our arrival, as we were leaving the hotel, I discovered thatthe door to my room could be opened without a key! It was upsetting, because we had spent an entire night in a room with a broken lock. The desk clerk , immediately changed our room upon learning of this, but it still meant that we lost about a 1/2 hour collecting our things […] and taking them to our new room. We did not stay, checked right back out. The hotel room itself was alright, but the location did not feel safe so we left.
No fridge in room,phone did not work i had to go to the front desk to make my meal order,front desk was not very pleasant,the place is filty,dark and no parking, i told the front desk about phone not working and they say that they would have change my room and fixed phone and up to when i was checking out no one has address my issue. Hotel desserted. Escalator broken. Room filthy with ripped curtain, black stains on the rug, beds unmade. My children and I turned around and checked out instantly. Horrible, Horrible hotel in a bad part of town. I doubt I would ever trust a review on this site again or book through this site again.
The hotel room was very nice, but their were no clock or bed rails to put on the bed for our kids. There was only a paid parking garage.
"Scared to DEATH!!!"
Arrived at hotel in the middle of a Large CITY!!! Had to park and PAY in the garage which was not affiliated with the hotel. Knew by looking at the outside of this Hotel that I would not stay there, but went in just in case--well inside just as bad as the outside--I told my husband we are not staying here!!!! We choose to loose our $$$$ that was prepaid […] and LEAVE never to return--we stayed at a Super 8 instead--What does that tell you?? Do no go by pics as the pics they have posted on this hotel are NOT the hotel!!!!!!!!!!! "NO INDOOR POOL"
I BOOKED THIS HOTEL SOMEWHAT LAST MINUTE FOR AN IMPROMPTU TRIP TO DUTCH WONDERLAND. THE REASON I BOOKED WAS BECAUSE THEY CLAIMED THE HAD AN INDDOR POOL. UPON ARRIVAL THE HOTEL LOOKED NOTHING LIKE ITS PICS, ITS OLD AND DARK UPON ARRIVAL ESCALATORS UP TO LOBBY WERE OFF OR NOT WORKING. SO I WALKED UP FOR CHECK IN. I SIGN IN AND ASKED WHERE THE POOL WAS […] I WAS TOLD IT WAS UNDERGOING WINTER MAINTENANCE I SAID ITS AN INDOOR POOL WHAT MAINTENANCE THE DESK SAID THE FILTERS. I JUST SMH. I LOOKED TO THE BAR AND IT WAS DEAD NO ONE IN SIGHT. I GET TO THE ROOM IT WAS OK LIKE THE PICS BUT THE CARPET WAS DIRTY AND IT HAD 3 OUT OF 5 BULBS OUT IN THE BATHROOM. I WANTED TO USE MY COMPUTER SO I CALLED THE DESK FOR THE WIFI CODE (NORMALLY GIVEN TO YOU AT CK IN) THERE WAS NO ANSWER SO WE GAVE UP AND WENT DOWN STAIRS TO FIND NO ONE AT THE DESK SOMEONE CAME AFTER 7 MINUTES TO GIVE US THE CODE. The Hotel Brunswick is a wonderful old hotel in downtown Lancaster, PA. I have been staying here for the last five years and find the people at the desk very pleasant and extremely helpful. They have been renovating the hotel for several years and it definitely is a "work in progress" considering the age of the hotel. The location is great, the rooms […] are fairly spacious the biggest inconvenience is the fact that the parking garage adjacent to the hotel is owned by the city and now the city has decided to not validate parking tickets for hotel guests which is makes it difficult when you are staying for several nights. "Total Let Down"
Upon entering the hotel, NOTHING like the online makes it seem. Musty Moldy smell like a flooded basement. Hotel Staff, needs training. The front desk people were very curtious at times and other time snotty. Bartender kept bragging about them being a 5 star hotel. How many hotels serve their beer in a cheap plastic cup that as you pick it up the sides […] cave in. FILTHY elevators and rooms had stained carpet and just overall would not recommend to my worst enemy. Sad!!! Ohh and last but not least, when we departed the lady at desk asked me if everything was ok, and I said yes, and then took it back and said "you know we were told and read in our book in our room there was continental breakfast?" Ohh my sorry theres a little coffee shop a 1/2 block away. We need to update those books. How about the website too. Will Not Be Back. A Total Let Down. "Wow, what's goin on?"
I'm very easy to please. I've spent countless nights on dirty punk house floors all over the country. And I lived in a van for a month. When I spend money to stay somewhere, however, I would at least think it would match the description I found on the website. We first arrived and noticed how dingy the lobby was. We received our keys and headed up to […] the 7th floor. When the elevator opened, it reminded us of a horror movie. The hallway was gross and poorly lit. There were stains all over the carpet and walls and cleaning supplies just cluttered everywhere as if they were knocked over and forgotten. We entered our smelly, disgusting room which had not been cleaned and seemed to already be occupied. And the smoke detector was beeping obnoxiously. I went down to the desk and didn't see anybody. After a few minutes I see the clerk looking in from outside. He was smoking a cigarette. He gave me the "hold on a minute" hand gesture and I waited another 5 minutes. I still remained calm and courteous but I imagine most people would already be freaking out. Our replacement room was better but still not very clean. There was hair in the shower and it smelled strongly like cigarettes. Keep in mind, the whole hotel is non-smoking. We kept our spirits high because "at least they have a pool." The pool was the reason I chose the hotel in the first place. Guess what? The pool was closed. I'm glad my girlfriend thought it was funny at least. I took her to Lancaster as a surprise for our anniversary. SURPRISE!!! I will say the girl the next morning was very nice. Although, more uptight types wouldn't appreciate how casual she and other staff were dressed. And as far as location, it was perfect. Don't let the website fool you. "Yucky!!"
The Hotel Brunswick is well located, but severely lacking in the area of cleanliness. The common areas were the worst I've ever experienced at any price, smelly and grimy. The rooms were somewhat better, but the carpets desperately needed cleaning, and there was no attention to detail. The towels hadn't seen any bleach in a long while, with washcloths […] I was given at the front desk looking like they'd been used as cleaning rags. The disabled room I prearranged wasn't available until my second day, and not until after 6pm, and then only the sheets and towels were changed. There was no cleaning done, and no toilet paper. I was lied to repeatedly by some man at the front desk about noise outside. He said the club that produced the drunks in the alley between the hotel and the parking garage at 2-3am wasn't open except on Wednesday (it was open on Friday and Saturday as well), and the construction crew with jackhammers in the same area didn't work on Fridays, which, of course, it did. "Needs Imporvement"
Since I have worked in the Hotel industry I tend to be more critical, however it's the simple things that can turn you off from a hotel. Came up the escalator and the front desk clerk had on an Abercombie T-shirt and the Manager had on a Home Depot polo...really? After the front desk clerked counted his money which took a while, we were checked into […] a dirty room...Room was moved right away however there was left over food in the refrigerator, hair on the toilet and no towels, washclothes or handtowels in the bathroom. Oh and no parking - you have to pay to park next door $14.00 over night and no in and out privilages. The hotel should make some kind of arrangement with the parking garage so their guest don't have to pay each and every time they leave. First impressions are lasting. My first impression was not good. My nostrils were assaulted with an offensive smell of mildrew the instant I entered the dimly lit ground floor Iobby. Once I reached registration, I waited patiently for my turn. After 11:00pm I was not surprised to see only one front desk staff on duty, but when another staff entered […] behind the desk, I was surprised to not be acknowledged, not asked if I was being taken care, not thanked for my patience. I had to ask the man if he was taking care of registering guests and then get a even more surprising reply of "What do you want?". "Welcome to the Brunswick Hotel. How may I help you?" would have been the proper response. Instead of being directed where to park, I had to ask. I was the one to prompt all the introductions to the hotel's services and amenities. I saw an indoor pool in the photo tour of the property online, but no mention was made. One friendly, helpful women came out of the back office to ask us if we wanted coffee for the coffeemaker in the room and gave us tips on brewing from her experience with the coffee machines. Otherwise, staff were barely cordial. Definitely staff is in need of customer service training and how to be a promoter of the establishment. Additionally, the front desk staff was shably dressed and underdressed for the position --- sweatshirt and jeans instead of jacket and tie or uniform. I understand that there are things beyond control, things just happen even with the best laid plans --- the escalator breaks down on the busiest weekend, staff calls off and stations are understaffed, everyone checks in at once, etc. However, it's the way that management 'manages' these shortfalls that make or breaks the guest's experience. In all, the hotel was quite run down. Photos on the website looked quite inviting --- obviously taken when the place was newlyrefurbished --- and indeed looked that way when we entered, but close up the carpets were stained, bathroom floors cracked อ่านเพิ่มเติม
"Absolutely My Worst Hotel Experience"
The front desk gave us 'our' room key, and we walked into a room already occupied. Then they gave us 'our' room key and 15 minutes later, someone was using a key to come into our room! The sheets and blankets were dirty (i.e. crusted with dirt) and the towels were gray and dingy. The customer service was absolutely terrible and incredibly rude. I reserved […] a king room, and was given a queen, with no apology or compensation. There is no parking for the hotel and they do not validate for the parking deck next door, so in addition to the cost of the room (which was supposedly less had I booked directly through them), I paid almost $30 in parking. We arrived at our hotel around 9:30 at night it literally took us until 10:00 to check in. The man at the front desk was not at all helpful. We were told when we called to make our reservation that parking was included. It was not and the parking garage had no affiliation with the hotel. We were also told that we were less than a half a mile from the […] area we needed to be. In truth we were about 7 miles away and unable to walk to our destination as we were told we could. This resulted in additional expenses that we were not planning for. Our room was not clean and the water preasure in the shower was awful. We had issues with the television and reported it to the front desk; in the mean time we went downstairs to pick up the food we had delivered because the kitchen was not open at the hotel as stated on the signs. When returning to our room we were startled by our door being wide open. Only to find an unannounced man in our room trying to fix the television. It would have been great to know that he was going to be there! The hotel bar had next to nothing to offer and the noise from the "night club" was very disturbing. "AWFUL!!!!"
I've stayed in a lot of places, but never one so broken down and poorly managed. The escalator and elevator were broken. I was at a wedding and 3 of the guests that were staying left in the middle of the night and drove home rather than stay- 3 rooms of people. The cleanliness wasn't awful, but the state of the room was bad. fire alarm was beeping, […] tv stopped working, no hot water. My friend had no sheets on her bed, so they moved her room in the middle of the night. Someone's sink didn't work. The elevator that was broken wasn't even shut off, it had a sign to the side of it that said use the middle one. People were getting on without realizing it! Terrible place to stay, dirty not anything like pictures! Place smelled musty no hot water in bathroom sink. Drawers in night stands dirty, carpet dirty vent in bathroom dirty. Window did not shut properly was very noisy. Parking not free cost 14 dollars a night. Run down crappy place would not recommend to anyone!!! "Hotel Brunswick - Dont Do It!"
I think this is probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. There are tiles falling out of the ceiling, No hotel parking is offered, smells like mold, and VERY dirty. They offer an indoor heated pool till 11pm but we couldn’t get in to it. Don’t waste your money on this hotel!

Undergoing renovation in and around the building. Facility just seemed very "tired" as did the room. Most disturbing was that I did a search for "pet friendly", which is why we stayed here. When we checked in there was some clause on the sheet we had to sign that said; "no pets allowed. Anyone found to have them will be evicted". When we asked about […] this the woman said as far as she knew no pets were allowed. But then she turned and asked a colleague, and he said; "yes, for twenty dollars". Ugh! I spend lots of times in hotels, travel for business and pleasure, and this is the worst value, one of the poorest quality hotels I have ever stayed in. Rude staff, stained carpets, broken down, run down. Location is the only redeeming quality, as it is right down town.

"HOTEL BRUNSWICK - NOT CHEAP DUE TO PARKING"
Hotel great location for being in the City. While going to take my kids to Dutch Wonderland I thought that 30 min away of traveling was worthy if the price was right. What I did'nt know is that hotel don't have a parking and the one next to it is from the City and cost 15.00 per night. I spend in parking 40.00 Also, elevators take forever, no complimentary […] breakfast and lobby has a smell. The room was cleaned and comfortable. Ideal location to enjoy downtown Lancaster but didn't live up to expectations. No parking (parking in city-owned facility next door for $14 a day or park on the streets. I booked a King room but was told none available at check in. Elevators were problematic, escalator was out of service. Hotel shows obvious signs of wear/tear. Room was clean; nothing […] fancy in the accommodations. Lot of construction around the hotel itself.
