Kuala Lumpur is a very compact and walkable city for tourists, and seemingly in the middle is Hotel Istana. 1/2 block from the Raja Chulan monorail station and 1 block from the Pavilion mega-mall, Istana is also near Petronas Towers and the SkyTower. Also, if you're coming from the airport, take the KLIA Express then the monorail if you want to save money. The hotel sufficed. I chose it for the free high speed Internet and the great price. The room was spacious and clean. The shower needed some adjustment but worked well. My travel adapter didn't work and the hotel quickly delivered the right plug to my room. Nice. Highly recommended hotel!

Great hotel and very conveniently located. Clean and spacious rooms. Very friendly and helpful staffs. Check in and check out was a breeze, very efficient. The only complain was there was noisy renovation going on in the adjacent room in the afternoon when we tried to have an afternoon nap. Eventually, we have to transfer room. Got complimentary internet connection in the room through Hotel.com, else have to pay RM15 per hour. Swimming pool clean and nice.

This hotel is out of my expectations. Closed to the Alor street, eating is convience. The stop Raja Chulan is just opposite to the Hotel. The Hotels seems a little bite old but it full of Middle East style. Hotel staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast is quite good. My room can watch the twice towers, excellent! when you down to the street, I would come back again! One point I had to say, this hotel is not in the traffic jam area, therefore, when you returning to airport, it is fast.

We woke up looking on Petronas Towers! Enourmous breakfast buffet - you don't wanna miss it...We went to the whirlpool, sauna and the fitness center - all in good condition... If I go back to Kuala Lumpur, I'm gonna stay at 5-star Hotel Istana again...

If you are looking for luxury, look no further! Istana Hotel is perfect! Conveniently located - only a short walking distance to shopping, restaurants, monorail, etc.The staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and the food was spectacular. I can't say enough good things about Istana Hotel.

This hotel is a 2 star hotel at maximum,,There were no hot water the air conditioner don't work . The owner is saving money not so bright owner because i will never come back to this Hotel. But like the rest of this city people here has not developed as fast as the infrastructure..

If not for www.hotels.com efficient booking service I would not have stayed at this hotel. check in and out was a breeze, room was clean and extra bed came very quickly. bathroom good except water from tap for bath-tub was brown and not possible to take bath. Housekeeping was prompt. Great breakfast spread, on one day due to large tour groups breakfast was at italian restaurant which was below standard - breakfast juices were served out of punch bowls, communal seating in long table, hot eggs cooking not available, spread was very much reduced. Hotel in excellent location, hot night spots, disco & restaurants till 4am, but not good for those driving - traffic jams. Overall I will return to stay at Istana.

The hotel is ideally situated next to a monorail station and 15 minutes walk from the Petronas Towers or one of the mail shopping areas. We had a minor emergency with a front tooth breaking on our first morning. The hotel was excellent in that it arranged for us to visit a dentist within 15 minutes of being told and the dentist was able to do some (fairly major) temporary repairs with 4 hours of the initial consultation. The Hotel was interested enough to ask how we got on when we saw them the next time. The hotel also arranged an Executive taxi (at reasonable price) to take us to the airport. We required Internet access and this was made available by cable within the room free of charge. Overall we would recommend this hotel and would definitely book there again if coming to Kuala Lumpur.

Our stay at The Istana hotel was great. The staff were exellent, couldn't do enough for you and were so friendly. We took the upgrade option of the Club Lounge faciliies which included Continental breakfast,cocktails, snacks and internet... well worth it. Would recomend it to anyone...

the location is in centre of the city ,it is easy to find your bus ,metro or taxi;walking is enough to go to KLCC and pavillion!if you want to close to get massage and many restaurauts;obsolutely ISTANA hotel is a good choose!

we picked up the istana hotel at the last minute since we had problems with the previously booked hotel. It was a luck and a right decision in the end to pick this hotel. Spacious room, nice staff, free broadband internet in the room. Only one negaive thing coming into my mind was there was no clear statement about if the breakfast included or not. We found out it was room only until we checked-in. Although it was not a big problem there were plenty eating places around, it could be better if we got clear description about the deal.

We stayed in a budget hotel for the first 2 nights, horrible! We had to move to a more comfortable, luxurious hotel for the remaining 2 nights and we got that with the Istana. Check in was smooth, staff were all very friendly, from receptionist, porters to restaurant staff. Our twin room was very spacious, beds comfortable. Bathroom huge and clean. Love that the shower was stand alone from the bath and the toilet was separated with a sliding door. There were also two basins. Great for families. Location close to city center, there is a monorail station just in front, very convient however you can walk to the center where the big shopping centre Pavilion is, just 10mins away, large food court at Level 1. Can also walk to the Twin Towers 15-20mins. Just ask the hotel for umbrellas when it rains.

Booked into wrong room, twin not king. Not offered upgrade, never offered King if one became available. Shower door leaked so bathroom floor was always wet and slippery. Club room, so Internet was free, except didn't work for first 24 hrs. Had to complain twice to get it working. Shame, nice hotel, great location, good staff, but overall, too many mistakes. Could not recomend.

We stayed here for two nights on the way to Bali for our honeymoon and were very impressed with it. The entrance was very grand and he staff incredibly polite. Our room was a good size and very clean, nothing particularly special but exactly what you would expect from a hotel room and in fact bigger than we had anticipated. We also paid for access to the business lounge where we got breakfast and food/drinks between 5.30pm and 7.30pm for no additional cost which was well worth it. As in the rest of hotel the staff here were extremely polite and helpful. We only really used the hotel as a base for the two days whilst looking around the city. If you are looking for a hotel to lounge by the pool then probably not the best choice as sitting next to a pool in the middle of a city is not particularly relaxing. All in all a good choice.

The quality of service at this hotel made the stay very easy and I definitely want to return. The speed with which all staff responded to any problem or question was excellent. Large rooms and bathroom. Easy location.

One of the main reasons for our brief stop in Kuala Lumpur was to see the Patronas Towers. You can get a top half view of this buiding from this hotel - but ask for a room with a view. The hotel itself was lovley inside and the pool was great too. Locatily brilliant - very close to the monorail station.

only two negative things, carpets in the hallway are a bit messy, and the internet is too slow .. fabulous staff, good facilities ... at full rates, slightly over-priced .. at the rate i got, a good deal

Die Lage des Hotels war für uns als Stopover Gäste super. Die Monorail war nur ein paar Minuten entfernt; das Bintang Einkaufs-Center 5 Minuten zu Fuß. Die Petronas-Towers waren ca. 15 Minuten entfernt. Zur Stasion Sentral braucht ein Taxi ca. 15-20 Minuten, zum LCCT etwas 1 Stunde. Das Hotel ist nicht mehr ganz neu aber wird sehr gut gepflegt. Das Frühstück ist erstklassig. Das Zimmer und das Bad waren großzügig bemessen. Der Service hat uns gut gefallen.

Ett bra beläget hotell med mycket mysig och bra personal. God frukost och ett funktionellt hotell. Minus för lite skabbiga heltäckningsmattor på rummen samt att det är väldigt kallt då ac´n går igång per automatik när man går ut.

Hotellet er meget flott og man kommer inn i en enorm lobby som virker godt, men når man ser rommene blir man nok skuffet. Rommene trenger øyeblikkelig en rehablitering; slitt gulvteppe, slitne møbler, litt velbrukt bad, safe som sviktet 2 ganger. Det positive er at det var hjelp å få øyeblikkelig og de ansatte var utrolig høflige og serviceinnstilte. Vil gjerne bo her igjen.

This was one of my worst hotel stays ever. The first room was really dirty, I had big stains on my cheats. After complaining and talking to mgmt for 1 hour they switched my room. The new room was cleaner but the AC and the hot water in the showers didn't work. Since there were no rooms available I had to sleep with my jacket on. The staff is not friendly at all.

Har bare positive ting å si om hotellet. Du har alt du trenger på hotellet, frokosten er bra, rommene er bra, bassenget er bra, sengene er bra, prisen er bra.

idealement situé entre les tours petronas et les centres commerciaux , a deux pas d une foule de resto et des gargottes de rue ( proche du bb plazza ) , ou l on mange local tres bien , service absolument irreprochable , le concierge est la pour satisfaire toute nos demandes , (il s est chargé de recuperer nos baggages perdus a dubai ) , la reception nous a trouvé tout ce dont nous avions besoin pour la toilette au milieu de la nuit , (rasoir , dentifrice ect ) breakfast gargantuesque , et de qualité , ( les croissant sont meilleurs que chez paul )piscine agreable , yable a l ext pour breakfast , salle de sport moderne , sauna hammam jaccuzzi , chambre spacieuse , peignoir en eponge , salle de bains marbre , calme lounge agreable un hotel qui vaut amplement le shangri la ou le mandarin je vous le conseille

Hotellet är placerat mitt i Kuala Lumpur, med access till de flesta turist attraktionerna inom gångavstånd. Priset är helt godtagbart om man jämför med svenska hotellpriser och standard. Vacker pool anläggning med två pooler, 0,3 mtr resp. 1,60 mtr djup. Det första som möts är en pickolo som öppnar taxidörren för en och tar hand om ens bagage. Sen i foajén möts man av en värdinna som eskorterar en till receptionen. Det är ett mycket vackert hotell på insidan med marmorgolv och marmorpelare och ett vattenfall rakt innanför entrén. Har man rummet på framsidan hotellet så har man fin utsikt av både Petronas tornen och KL Tower. Vill man äta ute har man en "food court" (många resturanger samlade under ett tak) 5 min gångväg till Pavilion, vån 1, där det serveras mat från jordens alla hörn och det är rent och snyggt samt de ställen jag provade hade utsökt god mat. I Sungei Wang, utalas sungaj vang, som är ett stort shopping center, ligger 5 minuters gångväg bakom hotellet, finns det mesta till rimliga priser, glöm inte att pruta. Bredvid Sungei Wang finns ett 6 vånings shopping center för elektronik och teknik frälsta som heter Low Yat, uttalas lao jat. Utanför hotellet finns en monorail station (ett tåg som går 10 mtr över gatan) som tar en till de flesta sevärdheterna för en spottstyver ca. 2 skr per resa. Om man är handikappad kan man ta sig till de flesta ställena men Kuala Lumpur är inte lika handikapps vänligt som t.ex. Singapore så taxi är att föredra.

Fantastisk service med idel vänliga människor som ser till att du får all service du kan tänka dig. Ett mycket välutrustat gym finns för dig som vill hålla dig i fysisk trim även under semestern. Bra öppettider på gymet och utmärkta omklädningsrum med tillgång till bastu, bubbelpool mm. Pool finns utomhus fräsch och fin. Lounchen stor och trevlig med fantastisk service. Lite dyrt är det förstås att att köpa drinkar etc. men det är också ett 5-stjärnigt så du får ju räkna med att betala för den service du erhåller. Rummen (vi hade två "hopkopplade" de-luxe-rum där våra döttrar bodde i det ena rummet och vi i det andra) var helt OK. Både dusch och badkar och dubbla handfat gjorde att ingen trängsel uppstod i badrummet. Ett stort plus. Litet minus för de tillbehör som bör finnas i ett badrum för ett 5-stjärningt hotell. Det fanns ex. inget hårbalsam utan enbar hårschampo. (småsaker kan ju tyckas men det är inte direkt gratis att bo här så då kan man ju ställa rätt höga krav) Allt som allt ett mycket bra hotell som jag varmt kan rekommendera!

Fint hotell med kort vei til det meste. Monorail-stasjon hundre meter fra hotellet. En ypperlig måte å komme seg rundt i byen på. Vi fikk en suitte med fantastisk utsikt til Petronas twin towers. Fantastisk frokost og fint basseng. Hyggelig og effektiv betjening. Rent og pent!

Meget god hotellstandard i forhold til pris! Hotellet ligger veldig sentralt, og service og frokost var tipp topp. Litt minus at check in tok 30 minutter klokka to om natta, men men. Alt i alt imponerende!

Hotel grande classe, service 5 étoiles, trés beau hall, personnel trés sympa, chambre confortable avec vue piscine ou tours Pétronas. La clim est un peu trop forte dans la chambre et la salle de bain a besoin d'un coup de jeune, mais l'ensemble est trés bien. L'hotel est trés bien situé entre la KL Tower et les tour Pétronas, à 10 m du monorail et à 5 mn à pied des centres commerciaux.

Ottima struttura con servizio impeccabile, situato vicino ad una zona animata alla sera dove è possibile fare acquisti. Vicino c'è anche una stazione della monorotaia che porta a tutti i siti interessanti di KL compresa alla KLcentral.

Very nice hotel with excellent service

Mycket trevlig lobby med god service och lätt underhållning varje kväll. Enkelt men trevlig pool-område. Mycket bra frukost och rymliga rum, bra sänger men relativt enkel inredning.
