Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur City Center - กัวลาลัมเปอร์

We really enjoyed our stay at the Istana. We stayed there a couple of times and both times the staff happily checked us in early (one time at 8am in the morning). The staff were really nice and made a huge fuss of our 17 month old. The rooms were large and comfortable and the showers were fantastic! The hotel is a little worn out but we noticed that […] they seemed to be doing renovations on some of the floors so that may be set to change. The only thing we would caution about is the hotel taxi stand. We expected they would charge us more but once we had paid we were told by other staff that a taxi to the airport would be significantly cheaper. Our 1st stay in this KL hotel. Location was great & central within 5-10mins walk to main shopping & dining areas. Rate was reasonable, good value for money. Staff had allowed early check-in after our long drive from Singapore. Car parking was complimentary. Room was spacious with room for an additional rollaway bed for 3rd person. Bathroom was huge […] & clean. Staff were also very polite, helpful & friendly especially the conceirge, guest relations & gym staff who would automatically greet guests who walked pass them. 2 setbacks for improvement: (i) 3 lifts at west wing nearest to our room & basement lift, were all down at same time for upgrading, causing much inconvenience with heavy luguages; & (ii) bathtub shower head was cracked & leaking on all side round & needed to ask for maintenance staff. Water came down from the roof our first day at Istana, so we had to change room. After waiting a couple of hours we got the new room and it wasn't even close to the other room. Dirty carpet, no safety box, no working fridge, smaller room, hole in the bedsheets and pillows, and the view was over the parking space instead of city view. The fitness center and the pool was nice, but other then that the hotel was not so impressive. Because of all the trouble at our visit on Istana we give it only 2 of 5 possible. Location 5 of 5, a monorail station just beside the hotel. Walking distance to petronas and a lot of big malls. Good hôtel near bukit bitang, monorail, petronas tower....the hotel service was perfect. You can book a room in this hotel eyes closed!!!!!!!

Hotel staffs are not so polite to Asians.

The hotel staff are very friendly, they will greet u whenever there's a guest who walk pass . The room is clean and the view from the guestroom will enable us to see the whole of kl town

We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel. It is very centrally located and right across the street from the monorail station, so it great for getting about the city. We stayed there for 3 nights on the Club floor with breakfast and complimentary internet. Room is spacious. It has enough room for the rollaway bed which we needed. Bathroom is super huge. It is clean too. But they are a bit stingy on the towels. We had 3 people and they gave exact 3 towels. Would suggest to have breakfast in the restaurant at the lobby […] instead of the club lounge. Selection is much better. Gym is fully equipped but the pool is small and water seems to be cloudy. I enjoyed using the gym every morning but did not dare to jump into the pool. Very good location. Only 5 min walk to Bukit Bintang and Pavillion. There is also a monorail station nearby. The only drawback is since it is a 5-star hotel, only limo taxi is available, which is double the price of budget taxi. If you need budget taxi, you need to get it on the road or if you are lucky sometimes they are just outside of the hotel. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel Staffs are very polite and friendly and helpful too. Room is very clean and lives up to expectation. I will say that my stay is very satisfying.

This is 2nd time for me but 1st time for my parents visiting KL. Knowing the location of the hotel, so booked Hotel Istana KL. Nice hotel, close to everything and anything. Staff are kind and friendly. Like the place very much.

Although the hotel is a little old, it is still comfortable and it is located inb a really strategic area. The rooms need a little upgrading (especially the bathroom). The shower knobs are a little complicated and left over from the 90's.

Convenience Hotel. Easy to access to major shopping malls. The nearest shopping mall is Pavilion (only 5 to 10 mins walk from hotel). Tiring of walking , you may took a blue taxi for about RM 9.00 to KLCC in the morning. You may take a Monorail (near to hotel) to Berjaya Time Square (just 2 stations). The hotel facilities were good but we didn't have warm welcomes. I wouldn't go to this hotel again anyway.

This is a nice hotel that offers great value for money. We had a great time here and the room was beautiful with view to the Petrona Towers! Only the bathroom looked a bit old and could have been nicer. Overall, 8 out of 10!

..there were setbacks. Rooms were not as clean as it could be - found hairs in the wardrobe drawers & dust on the shelves.The mattress was hard but sunken in the centre (well-used). And the swimming pool's water was muddy in colour, staining my friend's white swimming costume. But this was easily washed off and the colour in the water could be due to […] the pipes. Otherwise our stay was good, The location was central and we were within walking distance to the major shopping places like Bukit Bintang, Pavilion & Sungei Wang. Staff were also polite and helpful, especially the conceirge. One setback was the internet connection was expensive but we overcame that but visiting the food outlets in the mall with Wifi connection (& there were lots). Everything was excellent with our stay at Hotel Istana. whilst the hotel is getting a little old now in places it is still maintained to an above average level and the basic amenties such as your room and pool and dining areas are all fantastic. excellent location for checking out KL. would definitely stay here again and recommen it to anyone.

Hotel Istana Easy to get to very close to Raja Chulan monorail station. You can see it from the station. Staff are very good and very helpful with quite large rooms. cons :not very clean, fit and fittings are even worse. for the money go else where

A hotel close to the shopping district in Kuala Lumpur. We stayed at the 10th floor with a street view. We had a nice view of the Petronas Towers from our window but the traffic was a bit disturbing in the night. The beds were of common Asian standard, very hard! The breakfast had a very good selection of both Western and Asian food. The luggage service […] was very slow and even after four reminders we ended up waiting one hour for our luggage to be delivered to our room. The next day we asked for an adpater and one hour later on our way out we reminded them of the adapter and asked them to send it to our room. The room was specious but very much in need of refurbishing. Maybe it was a five-star hotel but I don't think it is now. In-room electric kettle was broken and had to be changed. Called Room Service for ice but never delivered. The proximity to the monorail station is a huge plus since none of the cabs there use meters.

Location - very central Service - very good after confusion around initial booking. Istana had only upgraded one room on booking, not all as requested. KL was the last location we were covering of our Malaysia trip. Therefore the Hotel we chose had to be centrally located. The Istana's location was brilliant. Walking distance from the Petronas / KL Tower / shopping areas of Bukit Bintang. The room had a wonderful view of the Petronas Tower. Ours was a King Size bed. The staff's attitude was very impressive - cordial / friendly, be it at the reception / restaurant / or any department. We had a buffet breakfast as a part of our package. The buffet breakfast is one of the best i've come across so far. The spread was very good. My wife's a vegetarian and she there were enough options for her unlike other places that we visited in Malaysia. Hotel is located within walking distance to the twin towers and KL tower, close to a huge shopping mall with excellent food court, and is around the corner of a local shopping area. Location is excellent. However, everything was broken when we got into the room - AC, refrigerator, and the closet lights won't turn off. Stayed in this hotel in 1999 and it was fantastic. Satyed in 2010 and it was OK. On the plus side the rooms are very big and everything in our room was fine. On the negative side they decided to clean the pool on the week of the Malaysian Grand Prix when the hotel was fully booked. Pool was out of action for 3 days and then an algae green color for […] our other 3 days there. The sunbeds are the same ones from 1999 and an embarassment to the hotel. Pool area is very run down. They are doing some refurbishments so maybe will get to that, I don't know. Kuala Lumpur is a very compact and walkable city for tourists, and seemingly in the middle is Hotel Istana. 1/2 block from the Raja Chulan monorail station and 1 block from the Pavilion mega-mall, Istana is also near Petronas Towers and the SkyTower. The room was spacious and clean. The shower needed some adjustment but worked well. My travel adapter didn't work and the hotel quickly delivered the right plug to my room. Nice. This hotel is out of my expectations. Closed to the Alor street, eating is convience. The stop Raja Chulan is just opposite to the Hotel. We woke up looking on Petronas Towers! Enourmous breakfast buffet - you don't wanna miss it...We went to the whirlpool, sauna and the fitness center - all in good condition... If I go back to Kuala Lumpur, I'm gonna stay at 5-star Hotel Istana again...

If you are looking for luxury, look no further! Istana Hotel is perfect! Conveniently located - only a short walking distance to shopping, restaurants, monorail, etc.The staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and the food was spectacular. I can't say enough good things about Istana Hotel.

This hotel is a 2 star hotel at maximum,,There were no hot water the air conditioner don't work . The owner is saving money not so bright owner because i will never come back to this Hotel. But like the rest of this city people here has not developed as fast as the infrastructure..

If not for www.hotels.com efficient booking service I would not have stayed at this hotel. check in and out was a breeze, room was clean and extra bed came very quickly. bathroom good except water from tap for bath-tub was brown and not possible to take bath. The hotel is ideally situated next to a monorail station and 15 minutes walk from the Petronas Towers or one of the mail shopping areas. We had a minor emergency with a front tooth breaking on our first morning. The hotel was excellent in that it arranged for us to visit a dentist within 15 minutes of being told and the dentist was able to do some […] (fairly major) temporary repairs with 4 hours of the initial consultation. The Hotel was interested enough to ask how we got on when we saw them the next time. The hotel also arranged an Executive taxi (at reasonable price) to take us to the airport. We required Internet access and this was made available by cable within the room free of charge. Our stay at The Istana hotel was great. The staff were exellent, couldn't do enough for you and were so friendly. We took the upgrade option of the Club Lounge faciliies which included Continental breakfast,cocktails, snacks and internet... well worth it. Would recomend it to anyone...

the location is in centre of the city ,it is easy to find your bus ,metro or taxi;walking is enough to go to KLCC and pavillion!if you want to close to get massage and many restaurauts;obsolutely ISTANA hotel is a good choose!

we picked up the istana hotel at the last minute since we had problems with the previously booked hotel. It was a luck and a right decision in the end to pick this hotel. Spacious room, nice staff, free broadband internet in the room. Only one negaive thing coming into my mind was there was no clear statement about if the breakfast included or not. […]  We found out it was room only until we checked-in.
