Very friendly staff. Great location. Disappointments were: 1.Attention to detail in cleaning. A long line of 'dust bunnies' was quite obvious above the bath where it met the ceiling. 2.Attention to detail in maintenance. The bath/spa has been resealed where bath meets tile with a sealant not even close in colour to the original to a point where it resembles […] black mould. 3.The internet was not complimentary (where it was in most other hotels we stayed during this trip) It's hard to stay in front of the pack when you're behind the times. 4. The cost of the room was way overpriced. It was very small and needed painting. I booked well in advance and our room overlooked the carpark. The girl on the front desk could not work out our booking and check in took about 20-25 mins. The restaurant is quite expensive, not very classy and the food quite ordinary. After ordering pancakes they arrived […] to the room and we were informed that they had no maple syrup. This was not mentioned at time of ordering. This hotel has a great location in St Kilda, with beach views and across the road from a tram stop. Convenient for restaurants in Acland Street. Service was average and in particular we got no help with our luggage on arrival. Internet costs are ferocious and quite unreasonable if you are paying for an Executive room. Swimming pool very small .

For the cost l was very disappointed in the size of the room. I noticed the price was increased for that weekend given we had a large wedding to attend. Even with the 10% off it was quite expensive. Great location and aesthetically pleasing from the outside. Very dangerous front steps, too narrow and steep for the elderly.

Was not happy with the room at all. My partner and I booked a night in an Aqua View room for our one year anniversary. We were really disappointed because we could not see the beach or even the pool, it was on the ground floor and we were not told parking was not included in the stay.

The room allocated to us was very small for a week long stay. The view was great but the room was too small & poorly laid out. For example, the fridge was between the window & the bed, at the opposite side of the room from the tea/coffee making facilities. Also, the light switch for the toilet also controlled the light in the wash basin, tea/coffee […] making area so that any time the toilet was visited during the night, the light woke everyone in the room. Without exception, the staff were magnificent. From check-in to maintenance people to waiting staff to cleaning ladies, all were friendly, polite, & helpful. Great location, minutes walk from beach, shops, cafes and trams to the city. Didn't have any meals at hotel but our room was very clean and spacious (but a bit short on clothes storage space) with a fabulous view over the bay. Rest of hotel was well maintained, decor good and staff very polite and helpful.

Shabby, tired rooms and indifferent service. Food was quite OK but location is the only factor that could possibly explain the price here. Calling this hotel mediocre would be generous.

The hotel staff were AMAZING. So friendly and accomodating.Room service was tasty and affordable. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Fantastic location close to the beach and Acland Street. Would definately come back! Only thing I would change would be to have an indoor pool.

We were in Australia for our son's wedding, and needed somewhere convenient to his house, also to public transport, the beach and all the other local amenities. Your hotel fulfilled all these requirements in a most satisfactory way. We would definitely recommend it to anyone proposing to visit the St. Kilda area of Melbourne.

beds are terrible, spa useless, location good. My partner was not allowed access to room before I arrived after conference as I made booking even though his name was on the booking. Staff would not allow 2 hot chocolate sachets in a room where there were 2 guests booked

The Novotel St Kilda was just right for our 6 night stay in Melbourne. We drove our own car from Sydney so we could make a couple of day trips put of town. We also wanted to be able to easily get to the CBD and the really good tram service was able to be boarded from just outside the hotel. The Novotel was just opposite the beach and our room enjoyed […] a view over the bay. There were numerous restaurants/cafes in close proximity, meaning we only dined once for dinner at the hotel's restaurant. We found it quite good with exellent food, pleasant staff and reasonable value. The room was comfortable for what we required and was clean. Everything worked efficiently. The staff members were always pleasant and helpful. WHEN WE BOOKED WITH EXPEDIA WE WERE GIVEN AN AQUA VIEW ROOM. WHEN WE BOOKED IN WE WERE TOLD THAT WE HAD A STANDARD ROOM BUT WE PERSISTED AND GOT THE WATER VIEW ROOM AND THEY EVEN PUT US IN A SPA ROOM! SO THE STAFF WERE VERY GOOD ABOUT THE BOOKING IN THE END BUT OTHER PEOPLE MAY NOT HAVE THE SAME SUCCESS.

Room was nice. I thing the bar area is very disappointing, especially as we arranged to bring a crowd over and getting chairs was problematic. I was dissapointed on arrival that onstead of a king bed that was ordered I walked into my room to find two single beds made up separately and simply pushed together. Thankfully the front desk staff was friendly and helpful and changed us into another room. Roomwasa bit poky buy location was great amd staff were friendly.

Staff was exceptional. Restraunt was great though prices were a little on the higher side due to it being a nicer upscale eatery. Getting the breakfast/fast breaks included was well worth the added cost and actually more cost effective. Food was great. Firstly, if you do end up booking this hotel request a floor above level 1 - this level is pokey and dark. I found the room very small for what I paid and the quality of the room was average. Every staff member from reception, kitchen staff, waiting staff, to cleaning ladies were without exception, friendly, cheerful, friendly, & knowledgeable. The hotel is very close to tram stops & an easy walk to Acland St bakeries, bars, & shops. Also an easy walk to beaches. The room was great except the bathroom door was opaque glass so if anyone went to the toilet during the night, the light lit up the bedroom too. This hotel had a great location in a very scenic neighborhood, lots of good restaurants nearby. Easy to get to with public transport- trams. taxis. Staff very helpful. Bathroom could use some remodelling though. Free internet only 20-30mins at a time.

Location was great as we were across from the Palais where we saw a performance. The room was very old, tired, grubby, the shower was a disgrace. For the money we spent on the accommodation the standard was not acceptable. The only good thing was the buffet breakfast.

The hotel needs a facelift, the bar and outdoor area needed a good clean. Our room was the smallest hotel room we have ever been in, my husband only just fitted in the shower.

This hotel is a sealed box. You can not open a window. At a seaside hotel you should be able to get some fresh air. Otherwise all else was good. I would let guests know up front of this serious flaw.
