First of all, the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was nothing to write home about - pretty standard issue, but the price was great and everything was clean, which is exactly what I needed for an overnight stay. Overall, I'd stay there again. No question.

Room was badly outdated. Neighborhood...........we were right across from the state penitentiary! Construction/remodel was going on all around us inside the hotel. Staff was friendly and the room was clean, but I would have a hard time recommending this place to anyone.

During my stay I slept like a baby. There was no noise or rambunctious guests, it was very peaceful which is important. The hotel had free, decently fast internet which helped kill some time. Friendly staff, Quiet room, No Complaints.

A little out of the way, very nice rooms, great staff, all for a good price.

I stayed a single night at Ramada South Ltd. in Lincoln, NE. The front desk receptionist was VERY nice, with exhaustive information about the hotel and nearby restaurants. Thanks for that! There were cobwebs behind my entertainment center up near the ceiling, but the rest of the room was clean. Bed and shower were good, but the TV is in BIG need of […] upgrading. It was an old tube type with a problem that made everyone look like cone-heads! I flipped it off and watched my laptop. Some cheap $250 flat panel TV's would well be worth the investment! Every interaction with the staff during our stay here was above expectations. They were friendly, helpful, and wonderful. There was a little bit of road construction, but not terrible to navigate.

very accomidating if you have an animal

Prehistoric hotel is a must-see! Enjoy sleeping in an amazing neighborhood, right across the street from the State Penitentiary. Also pleased to note that hotel appears to double as a homeless sanctuary and employs some of these people as staff!

The room had 2 sinks, one in the bathroom and 1 sink outside the bathroom. The sink on the outside, the faucet fixture was broken and one could not control the water or temperature. Seems like it was built 30+ years ago, and never been remodeled. Desperately needs to be updated. Friendly staff. Pretty clean. Major road construction right in front. Would not stay there again unless renovated. A bit expensive for how old it is.

There is a roadhouse bar conveniently located in the parking lot, and the band plays loud and late. You'll hear the show whether you're at the bar or tucked into bed-- massive amounts of noise. The bed was as soft As the floor, the air conditioner rattled like a woodpecker tapping metal all night (only noticeable after the bar shut down). Not too bad for a quick stay. Did not spend time using any of the facilities. Got in late and left early. Clean but dated.

Room had mold on curtains and smelled of mold. Room was dirty. After traveling 19 hours we did not try to find anything that late at night. Surrounding Neighborhood was the local state prison. Staff was not helpful at all. Got very little sleep because someone tried to come in to our room. We left at daylight.

Good for the price but the breakfast isn't great but is typical of all 2 star. It is located near a large prison but I would not worry about the neighborhood.

This hotel had the most charming and helpful staff I have ever encountered. They were very kind and helpful throughout our stay, and we were grateful for their patience and thoughtfulness. The room was a little musty, and the location a bit out of the way.

Read a couple reviews of the place after I'd already booked the room but was secured with a very agreeable rate. complaints I read about, if they were legitimate, have been addressed it seems. I had no problem with residual smoke odors, plumbing, anything at all. staff friendly and accomodating. coffee sucks

Recently Stayed At RAMADA LIMITED in SOUTH LINCOLN and Really Enjoyed The Accommidations of this Hotel. Check in was very quick and easy, nice since it was so late and we were all tired. Our room smelled bad, and when we called the front desk and they switched rooms immediately. Breakfast was good. The pool was fun. Overall a good experience.

First, as the title suggestions the hotel is near the state facility, within visual distance. The pool was closed, internet was not working, and you could feel the springs in the mattress. Exactly as expected. The front desk was very nice and prompt, even when checking us in at 2am.

We were passing through Lincoln on our family road trip, and thought we'd save a few bucks by going a little way off the Interstate. It's only a few extra miles, but I'm sure we wouldn't have found the hotel without a GPS, and as we drove the final few blocks we passed the guard towers and razor wire-topped fences of the Nebraska State Penitentiary […] (not necessarily a bad thing, but I can understand why they don't mention it as a landmark in the driving directions.) When we arrived, I waited at an empty front desk for almost 15 minutes- long enough that my annoyance turned to concern for the safety of the staff. The woman working the front desk, when she returned, was very nice and apologetic, explaining that she was the only person on staff that night, and had to handle a maintenance issue. That first impression basically sums up the experience at this hotel- it's an aging facility, lingering smoke smell from the 70s, rattling AC units, not-very-comfortable beds (nice outdoor pool, though), understaffed with really nice people. Overall, I would agree with most other reviews of this hotel- it's an OK place for the money. Stay there for one night. Don't know if it was my GPS or that was the only route to the hotel, but it took a little while. Other than getting to the hotel, everything was great. Very clean did not have a complain about the hotel. The price was great would definitely stay again if I had to

It would have bee convenient if Hotels.com would have mentioned that this location was not off the highway AND located across the street from the Nebraska State Prison! We had already made the reservatio so we had no choice. We had to switch rooms due to people smoking in an non smoking room, the hotel could definitely use some upgrading NOT impressed […] with the "Ramada" name! The hotel itself is OK: clean room in good condition, friendly helpful front desk,etc. It is not easy to find it using google directions - Lincoln has pretty confusing street arrangement. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were generally clean and well-stocked.

I was a little suprised to find out that the hotel is located next to the State Penitentairy. The hotel is a little old and shower head was pretty low. I hit my head on it and I am about average height.

Everyone was very friendly and the reservation was simple. Thank you!

Reading other reviews, we were concerned about the noise outside and the breakfast offerings. We stayed 6 nights (including Memorial Day weekend), and had no problem with either. The wi-fi was a bit slow. The GFI in our room quit functioning by day 5. One day the room was not cleaned, but the front desk clerk immediately brought us fresh towels and […] apologized. We had stayed there about 8-10 years ago and it was OK. It needs significant referbishing at this time. Motel is smoke free but rooms had a definite odor. A very noisy bar located across the parking lot on the north side of the motel interferred with sleep until after 2 A.M. every night. Stay in a room on the south side if you must stay there.

Bed was comfortable but a roudy crowd outside from the adjacent bar woke us up. After a 13 hour drive, not what we wanted to hear!

The front desk staff were extremely friendly, especially Deb! It's funny because you always hear about how friendly the people in Nebraska are, but it's true - they were great! The breakfast was good each day. I came in each day 30 mins before they shut it down and it was still well stocked! They had a nice lounge area with a flat screen TV and comfortable […] furniture. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The cleaning staff started a little early for my tastes and I was located close to the front desk's back office, so it was a little noisier than I'd like, but still manageable. They did have quite a bit of trouble with their Internet and the people at the front desk had to keep going to the back of the hotel to reset it. I felt bad for them having to do it so much, but they didn't complain and were always willing to help with any requests (I got some great restaurant suggestions from them). It's definitely a place I'd stay at again and was close enough to the university, which I needed. Yes, as other people have posted, it's across the street from a penitentiary, but I honestly forgot about it as soon as I arrived because it was a non-issue. It wasn't a bad hotel for the price. The only problem we had was that the halls and both rooms we had had a very musty smell! It was so bad that we had to go out and purchase some air freshener to try to cover the awful smell!!!! If you can stand the smell, the beds were comfortable and a decent breakfast was available.
