The hotel was old and out dated. The bed was so hard it was like sleeping on a board. The fan in the bathroom was too loud!!!! Over all appearance of hotel was old and uncared for. The room had a funny smell to it too!!!

The hotel really wasn't that bad .... The outside was horrible and it seems to house prostitutes and transvestites

Spent 2 nights around Thanksgiving. Good for the Price, Long Island is very expensive. Inside was fine, better than I expected when first viewing from the outside. Drainage Problems in the parking lot, puddles everywhere! Near all sorts of restaurants, shopping, etc. Also not far from some company (across from nearby Applebees) spewing something smoking […] into the environment! Not sure what, noticed this upon leaving, and we stopped and ate lunch. It may be nothing. Could not connect to Wireless, and know how to do this, though not urgent and did not pursue. Free breakfast (cereal/bagel/donut/juice type), I think 3 SHO channels, had a DVD player, and LCD TV. When I checked in, the guy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful which I thought must be a good sign. The place looked a little ragged but I figured it the room was clean and bed was comfy I would be fine. The bed was one of the worst, most uncomfortable beds I have ever been on. I ended up taking the sheets and blankets and sleeping on the couch which was only slightly better. I got about 2 hours of sleep and had a really rough day the next day. At first I was a little disappointed in the surrounding area, the building next door was torn apart. However once I went in the room I quickly changed my mind. The room was huge compared to what I'm used to. It looked like it had a face lift farely recently as the bath room and furnature looked brand new. However make a left from the entrance and Old Country Road is 500 feet away with plenty of places to eat. Or make a right and a mile away is McDonalds. These rates are way too high for this place. Very run down. Not clean. Peculiar characters hanging around late at night. I'll never stay there again.

I stay in a lot of hotels, and this was one of the worst I have ever been to. The room stunk like cigarette smoke and the staff could not put me anywhere else. The smell of the sheets and pillow cases woke me up throughout the night. I checked out at 7am and went to Starbucks before a 9am meeting just so my clothes and bags wouldn't stink. If you are looking for a place to crash for cheap then this is it. Not frills. The staff were very helpful. The room was what it was for cheap. The location is kind of away from things, especially if you want to take the LIRR.

I did not know the reservation was made via hotels.com and was surprised to find out the booking was made via hotels.com. Hotels.com never sent me a copy of my reservation or my invoice.

The hotel reminded me of a motel. It was good for a overnight stay but I wouldn't stay longer than one night.

One problem was at 5pm hot water was not quiet what it should of been.When I checked in I asked for a 5am wake up and that didn't happen.

The room was very clean and nice, the bed could have been in better condition. The bathroom was in very good condition and clean.

The accomidations are rather small, but it's more than reasonably priced, cleanly, and there's a bar & grill. If you want somewhere to sleep or meet up with a friend, this is worth your money.

After working a 14 hour day then driving through the night then doing a charity heart walk in the area, I just wanted a clean bed to sleep in. It wasn't even acceptable for just that. First, there were "professional" um, women, (if you catch my drift) hanging around outside. Second, the room had a horrible stench, like overkill of air freshener, which […] made our eyes water. We went to open a window, which we discovered only opened to a hallway, not outside. We went back to the desk, and the manager (very nice) tried to let us see two more different rooms. But they were just as bad, the last smelling like an ashtray. The pictures of this place look NOTHING like it really is. We got our money back and went to a courtyard Marriott which was only $30 more a night and beautiful and clean. I am thankful my children were not with us. Close proximity to train/highway/transportation, eating (both fast food & 24 hr diner), gasoline, and limited shopping, in addition to quiet area and low cost result in repeated stays. My husband and I had a good stay at the hotel..the room was clean and well kept...we wanted a little getaway spot for the weekend and it pretty much served a bed rest purpose.

Do not stay in this hotel .

This is not a hotel I would recommend to others. Quite run down, very thin walls, depressing setting. Spend a little extra and stay somewhere nicer!

this was the worst room/hotel i have ever been too. will never come or recommend this to any one. the odor in the room was bad the mold in the bathroom . there was nothing nice not even the staff .

This was the worst hotel that i have ever stayed at and i would never recommend it to anyone.The sink leaked all over the floor and they were not very freindly we were woken up at 4am by the front desk cause the entire floor sqeeked and the women below us complained about me walking to the bathroom. Then later that morning the same women came up to […] our room yelling at me an telling me i needed to move her to another room. An she called the office on numerous occasions to complain and they were all unfounded. It was the worst stay in a hotel that i have ever had and i would never stay there again even if it was the last hotel in the world. i didnt like that hotel at all

I booked a non-smoking queen bed room through hotels.com. But was given a smoking room instead. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke, the room wasn't changed even on request as the front desk officer said he do not have the powers to do so. Apart from the smoking smell (which was strong and aweful) the room was small like a tiny dorm (it could barely fit […] a queen bed, a desk and chair, and a TV - and hardly any space to move around). The walls of the room had visible patches filled up with plaster of paris all over. In short, it was a very unpleasant stay at Days Inn-Hicksville, my worst experience ever (I've stayed in many Days Inn hotels and have never experienced such difficulty). Even the pillows and bedsheets had the cigarette smoke smell in them. I did not enjoy the check out process at all. I had to wait while the clerk walked over to the room and physically checked the room and walk back. I have never seen such an antiquated process for check out in all mt many many travels. The rooms are clean, thank goodness. I was on the first floor and could here the people on the 2nd flr walking back and forth. So if you are a light sleeper, I suggest you request 2nd flr. If you are looking for a place to eat. The BlueFin Sushi is pretty good. Its actually a pretty nice restaurant that you wouldn't expect near a Day's Inn. If you are commuting, don't expect the Taxi service to be the best, but its the only way to get from the LIRR train to this hotel ($8.25). My girlfriend and I made a weekend trip to the NYC area to see two NHL games one in Newark Friday and one in Uniondale Saturday. We drove from Newark to Hicksville Friday night to stay in a better area and we were surprised. some of the reviews on here of this hotel left a bad impression on me, but after checking in we were pleasantly surprised. We […] had a queen bed room and it was a nice, clean room with a desk, table, and three chairs. The room had a mini-fridge and coffee maker which we were not expecting. The only negative about the room and hotel was the TV was old and didn't always work that great. More often than not there was a buzzing noise that came through on every channel that got a bit annoying at times. The area around the hotel is very nice and safe. There are plenty of shops and fast food restaurants all within a 10-15 minute drive. The hotel was what we paid for. Not great, not bad. The room was tiny and smelled like smoke, but the location was good for us.

Upon checking into this hotel, we were inform by one very disinterested desk clerk that "ugh, your room is a smoking one. Is that cool?" I had selected 'non smoking' when searching and the printed reserveration/iternary said non smoking. The explaination offered was "Yeah. That happens with Hotels.com. It messes up the booking. Nothing we can do. But […] the room's not that bad." Wrong. The room positively STANK of smoke and mildew. It hit us like a wall of gross as soon as we opened the door. Immediately we called and asked the desk if we could change rooms. The parking lot was empty. Having worked in customer service before, I can tell when a genuine effort is being made to help. I can also tell when the bored, surly desk clerk doesn't feel like doing his job as was this case. "Yeah, there are no more rooms. But...umm...we have air freshener." The parking lot was completely empty. We bought air freshener of our own and sprayed as much as possible in the room to attempt to hide the smell of smoke and stench of poor customer service. I understand if no other rooms were available to be dismissed and almost lied to is not acceptable. Due to some changes in our plans, we had to do opt for late check out the next day. The cleaning service was at our door at 12:30, requesting that we leave. As I loaded up the car later, I notice the cleaning lady is standing outside waitng for us to leave and actually yells at us for staying too long!! I understand she has to clean the entire hotel and has schedule but we also had a nonsmoking room reservation. For a cheap hotel on short notice near the race we were competing in, this establishment was acceptable. I was back on the Island for my 55th HS reunion. This hotel was convenient to our various functions and priced right. Geat parking--right in front of my motel room door. Rooms were on the small size but clean and confortable.

The rooms were small, the decore from the 80s, and the bedspread had stains. My baby got sick and threw up on the sheets and 'i was told there were no other sheets we could have. I am very unhappy

Very clean, and very good price for the area. I would stay there again. This location is close to Long Island RR station, and major highways. Lot of good place to shop and eat near by. Only one thing that could be improved would be the number of TV stations and some come in fuzzy. But I would stay there again

very clean... no bed bugs.. I checked...brand new bathroom.. I will stay there again... The only negative was that the complimentary breakfast room was too tiny, not enough seating..

We didn't check out the neighborhood since we just needed a place to stay for one night, but on the way out we saw some shops nearby.

I reserved a room with a king size bed and indeed the bed was a king size. The bed and room was bigger than I expected. I was very pleased with the size of the room and service. I will definitely go there again when I visit New York.
