Excellent location at a fair price. Old charming building. Rooms however are very small and when you have a room on court side, they are quite dark as well. Excellent price if you only need the room to sleep in a very convenient neighborhood. Hotel staff was very pleasant, and coffee machine in lobby made good coffee.

Good service. They gave me a smaller room and a breakfast voucher for an early check in. Also received a $22 voucher for overnight parking 2 blocks away. Very happy with their service. 5 min. walk from Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Will definitely come back.

There are no thermostats in the room. Therefore, the only way to control the temperature was to open and close the window. Just thankful that it was in spring. Otherwise, the hotel was great.

Overall the Mansfield was fine, though the rooms are just postage stamp size. I knew to expect a small room but it still surprised me. Hotel is good located, close to Times Square a Broadway. Rooms are tiny, but what to expect from NYC. Windows not closing well, a bit chilly in winter. Its a fancy hotel, near Times Square. There is a nice bar and library-style meeting room downstairs (with free coffee, apples and lemon water). The hotel staff were very helpful and the room was spotless at all times. The rooms are quite small (not unusual for NY) but comfortable for one. The bath room was a good size and better than in other hotels in NY.

Love the small intimacy of the hotel. Robert, the concriege, was helpful with excellent restaurant choices and table reservations. We received prime seating for both nights at fabulous establishments. We booked the Junior Suites which are very luxurious for one person at a reasonable price. we were there in February and it was very cold. the heat was very hard to control with just a radiator the first night was so hot we had the window almost all the way open with temps outside at around 20 degrees. This hotel is close to Times Square but on a quiet street. I loved the personal touches like the cookies at check in and the library room with free coffee and tea. I did use the bar and that was nice. I had a small room but perfect for a one night, 12 hour respite.

I've stayed in a lot of NYC Midtown hotel in the past decade, I mean dozens. This one is as good as they come in the $200 per night range - and much much better than most. It's nicely appointed and up to date, but best of all - they have the quality of hotel staff that ALL goo dNYC hotels should strive to have. Stay here. You won't regret it.

Really liked this Hotel! Stayed in a Junior Suite which felt like Paris. Quirky layouts which we loved. Lively Bar and restaurant and great Cafe Latte ( free) in the library !

First, the Mansfield is in an enviable location, right off 5th Avenue on 44th Street. A good friend who has lived in New York City for 60 years had never heard of it. I only discovered where I'd be staying after booking one of those 40% off offerings from Expedia. The hotel was built early in the century -- the 20th century, and has obviously been re-habbed […] to more modern standards. But, the room I was given was disappointingly small. I had to slip sideways between the bed and the desk to get from one side of the room to the other. I was glad I was traveling alone; if my wife had been with me, only one of us would have a chair. That made the double bed an unnecessary hog of the limited space. Other than the cramped quarters, everything else was satisfactory. The staff were cheerful and attentive. Hotel nice. Conveinient location. Spoke to hotels.com phone representitive for over a half hour as he tried to locate a smoking hotel. he booked this hotel with a smoking room, when we arrived, we were told that the entire property was smoke free.

Loved the convenient location. Staff was helpful. Price was good for NYC. Others have commented on the small size of rooms, but pretty typical for Manhattan. Old-world NYC decor and charm. It had everything one would need for a brief stay, and I would return if price stays reasonable.

They made us feel like we were demanding by first asking us to do it ourselves that they would drop the sheets and pollows for us! I read many reviews of this hotel and I agree with some of the complaints I saw. The room was too warm, but, because I was in a suite, I was able to open a window or two and this made the room quite comfortable (this was in the middle of February). The room was small for a suite, but adequate (though I certainly wouldn't want to stay in a regular size […] room at this hotel). I also found the mattress too firm for my taste and had rather sore hips by the second night. Some of the other complaints, however, I do not agree with. I found the staff very polite and helpful. I was worried about the frequent complaint that the hotel overbooks, especially because I happened to be there over Valentine's day weekend, but my room was ready and available even though we arrived after 8:00 PM. I also found that the vintage aspect of the architecture (including the small elevators) only added to the charm of hotel rather than detract from it. Room is pretty bare bones, which is fine if you aren't going to be there for long. No heat control in rooms so it got pretty cold at night. Coffee machine in the lobby is great, and a nice bar. Staff was friendly.

Great location, convenient to Times Square and Fifth Avenue, great little diner down the street for breakfast or lunch. Overall great hotel, but it's Manhattan, the rooms are a lot smaller than your typical hotels elsewhere. Staff very helpful, older hotel but kept up to date. The window is your A/C, not accustomed to that.

No early check in so don't bother trying. Hotel had charm to it but in bad shape. Bathroom door didn't close properly and neither did French doors. Comfortable and convenient. Rooms are adequate - not too small for Manhattan. Renovation is nice. Location is excellent. But overall this is very pricey. The room was clean and well presented, bathroom OK. Buy your own water outside - hotel water is $10/bottle. Front desk staff were helpful. Room was available at 2 pm on a Friday.
