Raffles Hotel - สิงคโปร์

I travel 200,000 miles a year and this is the #1 best hotel I have ever stayed at, breakfast is amazing, room is great, location is great, and personal butler assigned to my room was a nice touch.

This hotel is luxury and pampering from the moment you step off the plane and collect your bags. Forget the Marina Bay Sands if you want personalised friendly service that caters for your every need and want...and with a smile as well. Hotel is extremely comfortable and staff pleasingly customer focused. Only negative is anything extra comes at an exorbitant price, eateries outside the hotel in chimes or the Raffles coty shopping centre can find very good food at a portion of cost. Would encourage all who stay here to have an inclusive package and then you can enjoy as we did.

Great experience from the moment of arrival. Really enjoyed visiting what could essentially be considered a museum. A step back in time, supported by a highly professional and sincerely warm staff. Anyone who has the means and visits Singapore should take the time to at least stop by for a drink in the historic Long Bar.

This beautiful hotel has been on my "must stay" list for years. My husband surprised me with a birthday weekend there! It was all I hoped it to be! We were quickly settled into our courtyard suite. Anything we needed, our personal butlers took care of immediately. Our suite was very clean & comfortable. The past restorations took great care to keep […] the sense of the original hotel, but with modern conveniences. We took advantage of a private, historical tour of the hotel. The mgr of guest relations did a great job of sharing her knowledge with us! A friend recommended a special book about Singapore, but it's very difficult to find these days. Not only did they find the book for me, but they went & collected it so we wouldn't have to waste a single minute!! Raffles is close to the Marina area, the MRT, & within walking distance of loads of restaurants/bars, if you can tear yourself away from the hotel. We had drinks in the Martini bar & of course, the Long Bar. Not cheap, but you are also paying for the ambiance (rooftop drinks at the Sands Resort were more). Breakfast in the Tiffin Room was delicious, but there was a glitch in my husbands' order; it was corrected quickly. A Raffles representative met us at the airport gate lounge, escorted us thru customs to the Raffles car with driver that I had booked, and we were driven to Raffles (this was fantastic as the flight had been delayed and we didn't touch down till 12.30am) to begin our four night stay. Everything was ready for us when we arrived. I had told Raffles that […] it was our 25th wedding anniversary trip, and on arrival the staff presented my wife with a lovely bouquet of flowers, and escorted us to our room (the Noel Coward suite) where a complimentary bottle of bubbly awaited, and fresh fruit, etc! A staff member referred to as our 'butler' was able to be contacted 24 hours per day to assist us in any way. Breakfast was a sumptuous smorgasbord, and eggs and bacon was available to order to our liking, and the coffee was great - you didn't need lunch! On the Saturday night we enjoyed the seafood smorgasbord - with a carvery, and pasta cooked to order as well as the most wonderful selection of seafood (at $100 p/p it was more than worth it!). On our last day we checked out at 12md, and the hotel held our bags and we went shopping, then back to Raffles for High Tea at 3.30pm (having changed clothes in the pool's changing rooms). High Tea was beautiful, and we were presented with a cake with a candle and 'Happy Anniversary' written on white chocolate! They farewelled us, then off to the airport, and back to normal life... I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for 5 nights in early March. My suite (the most 'simple' suite, I think) was amazing - high ceilings, spacious bedroom and sitting area, comfortable bathroom with a large soaking tub. The traditional colonial decor truly transports you into another time. The hotel occupies an entire city block. It has several […] fountains and courtyards, a shopping arcade, and close to 10 restaurants. Basically you don't really have to leave the premises :) The only eating establishment I tried besides room service (which was great - try their breakfast dim sum and conjee) was the Empire Cafe. I had dim sum and fresh young coconut and a coconut/palm sugar/tapioca dessert that was superb. And of course I had to try the famous Singapore Sling at the Long Bar, where the drink was invented. The gym is small, but it was never crowded when I went there in the morning. There are cold towels, fruit, and water. The pool is small but gorgeous. It was, likewise, not crowded in the morning. This was out third stay at Raffles and whilst January may not be peoples immediate choice to visit Singapore it coincides wonderfully with Chinese New Year and the weather is usually a welcome change from the UK. This year we stayed in one of the Business Suites and were in one of the oldest parts of the hotel. They are more intended for business travelers […] although their slightly lower rates and large suite size make them ideal for those wanting a longer stay. All of the suites comprise an entrance hall with front door, separate bathroom, large bedroom, dining/sitting room and a back door. The back door is particularly useful as guests then don't have to walk through the bedroom. The hotel is showing no signs of tiredness since it's renovation in 1991 and the staff are just as attentive as ever. The Pool and Spa are exclusive to the guests which makes it a very relaxing experience. The dining in Raffles is superb although not cheap. The Indian Buffet in the Tiffin Room and the International Buffet in the Billiard Room should both be experienced. One tip ... don't have a large lunch before your evening meal and don't pile up your plate! You can go back as many times as you wish and stay for as long as you like. The Afternoon tea is beautiful and the breakfasts have to be seen to be believed. The bars in Raffles are all excellent although the Long Bar and Courtyard are really more for those not staying at the hotel. Try the Writers Bar or Bar & Billiard instead. อ่านเพิ่มเติม

Though the main hotel and lobby areas were gorgeous,the courtyard suites need to be renovated.Our room had wooden floors which were squeaky -that annoyed us tremendously!! We wanted to experience Raffles for the colonial syle -which we did ,but we will not be staying there again.

Upon arrival the desk clerk tried to get us to upgrade the room at our cost. We had not even seen the room we booked. Luckily we refused as the room we had was perfect. After this initial problem, we really enjoyed our stay. Just a warning to others, do not get seduced by upgrades until you have checked the room you originally booked!

Raffles was an excellent experience overall, with a couple of small things that could improve the experience. I would go there again, definitely. We loved the atmosphere and the service provided by the staff, the aura of the place, the way our stay was handled, the Palm Court suite was excellent, the butler service worked very well etc. A couple of […] things that could improve the experience: a) at the price asked by Raffles, internet should be provided for free, especially the Palm Court Suites and above. b) the Television system provided very little choice - they should go "the full hog" and provide every channel under the sun. c) the air conditioning was set on very cold (then again, this seems to be the pattern in Singapore, as the Stamford Suite at the Swissotel was also a "Fridge"; d) the Tiffin evening banquet food offered was good, but not great. It was very "balti", as the Indians would call it. I would have expected better, at least at the level of the Rang Mahal at the Pan Pacific. Except for the deserts which were really great.
