Accurate to what other reviewers posted - dated but clean, nice pool, convenient location, etc. Waffle Spot was very tasty but a bit spendy - $40 for parents and two kids (12 and 10). Would definately stay there again.

Older hotel. We could hear the people above us all night walking around in their room. Air conditioner in the room was very loud, woke us up whenever it came on. Staff was friendly.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was basic, but clean and comfortable. Bathroom is a bit small. Shower pressure sucked. Great breakfast restaurant. Good location. Great price.

It was pleasant stay. The room was comfortable. We would stay there again. Nice location near the zoo, Old town and Sea World.

The hotel is older and the bathroom area is soooo small, there is barely room to move. There was no free breakfast, no fridge and is the beds left something to be desired. However, the hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming!

Except for a big black spider, we couldn't kill, our room was good. The overall experience was very nice.the pool and Jacuzzi were perfect. The waffle spot and amigo spot are a great bonus. It was a sinch to get to the zoo!!

The rooms were clean and comfortable. In hotel circle with easy access to most tourist attractions and the airport: 15 minutes to Seaport Village, zoo, less than 10 to Seaworld, and about 15 to airport. My only recommendation would be to make clear in the hotel info that the business center in the lobby is not free. Several people, ourselves included, arrived expecting to use the computer to print theme park tickets etc for free & then had to get small bills for usage and per page printing costs. Nice. Conveniently located. Close to Gas Town, Old Town and Sea World. Price was good. Waffle Restaraunt was good. Very thin room walls, and noisy. Could hear neighbors easily. Value for a budget family trip is good. Not for a romantic get away and location stay.

Restaurants amazing and pool awesome. Location great. The rooms were super humid and smelled like elderly people. Overall I would go back to this hotel over the others I've stayed at.

The AC in our room was horrible. We could never get it cool down below 83 degrees. So, when we came back after being out for the day, our room was so hot and musty. It was hard to fall asleep because it was so hot....even with the windows open. On the very first day I told the manager on duty about it; she was very nice and helpful. It was okay. The main thing I didn't like is we had a room that I don't think was a guest room originally. The bathroom was very, very small and literally was crammed into a very small area just inside the front door. It looked like the room was originally a store room they decided to make a guest room out of. It was extremely awkward coming into the […] room through the bathroom. You cannot beat the value. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. The location couldn't be better as it is central to beaches, Seaworld, Petco Park, Seaport Village, Old town, etc. My family will definitely be staying here in our next visit to SD.

This hotel has the best location as I want with the less money needed. It is clean, tidy and has everything. It is close to the sea world, the old town and other places. The only thing is that it does not provide breakfast.

THE HOTEL WAS BEAUTIFUL AND LOCATED IN A GREAT LOCATION JUST MINUTES FROM ANYTHING IN SAN DEIGO. THE WAFFLE SPOT RESTUARANT LOCATED IN THE HOTEL WAS OUTSTANDING.

Very comfortable. Good (firm) beds and nice pillows, quiet. Room and bathroom were nice and clean. Bathroom has been updated. This is an excellent location for getting to everything in the area. Even though it's on the freeway we did not hear any freeway noise.

A lot of bang for the buck. Very personable staff. Facilities showed a lot of care and attention. I had an especially nice breakfast at the restaurant. When I am in the San Diego area they will be my first choice as a place to stay.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and took extra time to find out what we wanted to do while in town and gave us directions. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel has 2 restaurants attached to it. We ate at The Waffle Spot and it was a good solid breakfast. Overall the stay was very enjoyable.

I stayed here for 6 nights with my husband and 2 babies. I was a little reluctant due to some reviews. But the bottom line is that this hotel IS NOT BAD! It's a budget hotel but the beds are clean and the towels and showers are clean and that's all that really matters. If you go into a budget hotel expecting high class amenities of course it doesn't […] compare. But I think we got a great deal for the price. I'm not one to find a dirty hotel acceptable for my children. And this hotel worked for us just fine! There were a couple loud annoying neighbors but of course that's out of hotel control. Again... DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL FOR EXPECTATIONS OF A HIGH CLASS HOTEL and then give it a bad rating because it wasn't up to par. Doesn't make sense. It's not bad. There is a bus stop #88 in front of this hotel takes you twice an hour, to the trolley station (next to shopping mall, with free parking) which is 15 minutes away from downtown.

Stayed here 1 night when we arrived in San Diego, reception staff were really helpfull and friendly. The room was ok but seemed a bit dark and bathroom was small and basic, however for the price it was really good value. The location is beside the freeway and means you have to drive everywhere.

The hotel room was nice enough and clean enough. There is a pool and hot tub in the courtyard, and two restaurants. We did not use any of these amenities due to time constraints, but they appeared to be nice. The beds were comfortable. San Diego is loud, though. The room was always very clean and quite spacious. It probably has not been redone since the 80's, so the look is not ideal, but we didn't spend much time in the room, and we just needed a place to come back to from visiting and sleep in. We stayed for 2 nights on our weekend trip to SD. We requested adjoining rooms and that was exactly what we got. The girls at the front office make this place a + as soon as you walk in. Will definitely use again.
