From the minute we arrived the hotel staff could not have been more accommodating! "Sammy" met us at the door, took all of our luggage from our car (after asking if we were moving to Amsterdam), and made sure we were happy. The room was perfect, A/C worked well, amenities were everywhere (coffee, tea, TV, iron, refrigerator, very reliable WIFI, toiletries, […] huge towels, and a great shower), the cleanliness was superb, and the 3 lifts made life easy. The concierge arranged a tour after helping us decide. Best of all, this has to be the best location in Amsterdam, right across from the Centraal Station, convenience shops, and all tram lines. We drove to Amsterdam, and the staff directed us to a private parking lot (P1) that was one-half of everywhere else. Just beyond the front door of the Barbizon there's a great place that has a full English breakfast buffet for a low price - - and it's superb. The rooms feel a bit dated but everything works. The restaraunt was fantastic. The hotel is noisy though, I was awoken every night for the 3 nights I stayed. Having an ice machine near my room didn't help.

Breakfast not included, wi fi just in hall, price is not good enough Pro - location, concierge, service, staff

A comfortable stay at a hotel that was ideally placed for access from central station.

I have stayed many times at this hotel and it is my absolute favorite. Excellent service by a very attentive staff, great facilities and an excellent location across from the central station and spot on in the center. And a great wifi that really works! I would recommend it for both business and pleasure

Very pleasant and helpful staff, good breakfast buffet , Excellent concierge desk, They switch off heating to quote save energy, i objected as it was snowing outside and came back at night to a cold room.

went with 5 lads who are hard to please great hotel for great price straight out of the door into busy area try the draft dark beer in candle bars round the corner you wont need to many though if you want best sports bar in town try irish bar next to hard rock great staff and atmosphere budda bar worth a trip for late night chill out

theonly good thing about this hotel is it's location otherwise not worth the price. the room was clean but old and carpets look shabby. the concierge guy had a sour face. comparable to a 2 star hotel here and not the 4 or 5 star hotel it is advertised as.

The Hotel is very conveniently located. Staff is friendly. I have stayed there many times(30+). The quality has been consistent for many years.

The hotel is generally fine and have an excelent location next to main train station and city center. But room interior and somewhat wearn down standard does not fit with the pricing, which makes the hotel not quite worth the money. There was nothing out and out wrong with the hotel, it was just overwhelmingly average. My room wasn't impressive, a large crack ran through one of the ceiling's supporting beams, the shower was fiddly to get to work and there wasn't a great amount of pressure. Excellent location - reasonable prices for 5 star accomodation. Large and comfortable air-conditioned rooms. Very quiet rooms on 5th Floor. No complaints whatsoever!!!! Check out at 5pm on Sunday too.

I booked thru hotels.com , in the site it says including all taxes but they charged me city tax again . what does ALL taxes means?

Didn't spend a whole lot of time in the hotel. Checked in and met some friends. Great location, just a few minutes from Centraal Station. The common areas of the hotel are completely renovated, and look great! the rooms are a bit dated, but still in good shape.

4.5 Star lobby. 3 star room... Markets as a 5 star property. This is a recipe for disappointment, which I was.

Nice Hotel, very close to Centraal Station. Rooms good size. Although the hotel was great, ask for a room away from the street. Very close to a number of bars so was quite noisy until about 3am as was a Friday. The hotel knows this and provides complimentary ear plugs in the room!!

This hotel is really well placed near to the central railway station and on the edge of the red light district and I can recommend it for this. However, the hotel is quite tired and really needs a refurb. We were given a room which quite clearly was a single room rather than a double and it was subject to a lot of street noise. This place was like an overpriced motel. Extremely disappointed but Amsterdam has a way of helping you forget why you're upset. Do NOT stay here it's not worth the price...

Absolute excellent location great food no way around the prices because everywhere in amsterdam is so expensive same goes for the minibar . Great !!!

because this is rated a 5 star hotel, some reviewers expect grand luxury ... the reality is that the star ratings in Holland are all over the place ... you get the stars for ticking the right boxes on amenities. This hotel is probably a high 3 star or low 4 star, but in comparison to others in Amsterdam it has reasonable rates for what you pay. With […] my rate everything other than the room was extra (tax, internet, breakfast etc), but you can have free internet in the lobby and there are many local places for food and recreation, plus free morning coffee and tea in the lobby. Convenient location 2 minutes walk directly opposite from Central Station, and walking distance to all Amsterdam attractions (the old down town area is small, and a short bike ride will get you out into the countryside and canals). If you expect to get about what you pay, then you'll be happy. If you expect 5 star luxury at 3 star costs then you won't! PS: the hotel is mainly new construction around a court yard, however there is an old section comprising several 3/4 story mansion houses to the front of the hotel overlooking the square, the station and canals. Some of these rooms are much nicer. We had a spacious room on 2 levels with 3 floor to ceiling windows overlooking the square for the normal rate (requested at checkin). Overall this is a great hotel in a nice location. The staff is knowledgeable and polite, they are very attentive to the guest's needs. This is an expensive hotel, the breakfast is €25 and the in-room Internet is ~€9/day. If your stay is longer than a few days you can negotiate a discounted rate on the breakfast. However even putting the fan to the maximum speed wouldn't cool the room down below 22 Celsius - so I had hard time sleeping because of heat. 2. They have an issue with mice in the hotel. I actually saw the mouse sneaked into my room through the gap under the entrance door. This happened the next day again, so they moved me to a different room. I understand that this is a global issue in Amsterdam, and given all the canals and the proximity of the Centraal station it's understandable. had a very unpleasant experience checking in .....i booked a queen size bed and was given 2 twin beds....the room was over a bunch a bars and for comfort there are ear plugs on the night stand !!!! i went back to the reception where a not too nice member of staff gave me another room ....this smelt like a dog kennel and had no windows and the ceiling […] was 6 feet high.....i then complained again and they gave me a lesson in architectue telling me it was a historic building .......great if your a hobbit......in my opinion its a 3 star hotel and should be priced and advertised as such .....not the normal standard for an NH hotel อ่านเพิ่มเติม

If you are looking to stay close to the Red Light District and lots of coffee shops in Amsterdam, there are not many "name brand" hotel options. The NH Barbizon hotel is one of the best options, albeit often expensive. (Have looked at this hotel for multiple weekend trips) Just a few minutes walk from the Train station with easy connections to Schipol […] or European Routes and also just a few minutes walk to the Red Light District and lots of bars/nightlife/coffee houses. 5-10 minutes from Dam Square and lots of shopping too. The hotel itself is rather nice, but the services are pay per use. Wi-fi for free in the lobby, pay in the room. The mini-bar is one with sensors so if you pick something up it should charge you right away, meaning you might not be able to store your own water in the fridge. The pool/sauna/fitness was per person, per day, not per room. Breakfast was additional as well. Bed was very comfortable and they offer a pillow selection. Bathroom was large and clean. Tub/Shower had a traditional European style 1/3 glass wall on the opening side and no shower curtain. Water pressure was great, hot water came fast on the 4th floor. The room was overall large for typical European standards and very quiet. With the location in mind, some may worry about security, not in my opinion. The door to the hotel required ringing a bell or card access at night. The elevators required card access. Hotel staff was very accomodating and willing to help with requests and information. Luggage storage room was convenient and cost free. I recommend this hotel. Looking at options in Amsterdam, there are lots of cheaper hotels, but if you check review sites, cleanliness and bed bugs are often mentioned. How this poor hotel ever made it´s way to a glorious 5 star facility is far beyond my understanding. If you look aside the average "petrol station" service you get in the welcome desk the hotel it self is generally worn down and needs a solid refurbishment. Rooms were small, beds terrible. This is not a five star hotel, despite everyone's claims to the contrary. No walk-in shower, cheap bathroom finishing, cheap bedding and furnishing. It is a great four star with a great location, but go elsewhere if you are looking for five star.

I didn't have any problems with noise, but I asked for a quiet room, but next to the bed you will find two sets of ear plugs...they were also in my friends room. Stay is friendly, food is expensive, location is great. I'll look for some where else for next time.

The hotel was supposedly a 5-star; I'm not sure there IS a 5-star hotel in Amsterdam, so it's possible that relative to the market, this is the best it gets. Good position but quality is poor. it is four star.

Not a palace but an excellent hotel. Great location near the train station. Easy walking to Jordaan and the Old Center, a long walk to the Museum District.
