decor somewhat outdated. Smoke hole in the drape. Old fashion. Made me think of scenes from movies made by Alfred Hitchcock or Quentin Tarentino. Staff were friendly and helpful, room and premises were clean. Motel was conveniently located for all the places we wanted to go. Reasonably priced, will stay on our next overnighter to GR.

This was by far one of the worst motel experiences ever. We asked had a room with two queen beds, 4 people in the room (2 kids and 2 adults). There were only two pillows on each bed so I called and requested two more pillows. I received them but then my children wanted additional pillows because the original pillows were paper thin. We called and were […] told there were no more pillows. We were one of 4 cars in the parking lot so I know there had to be more pillows in the motel! The beds were as hard as floor and that is truly no exaggeration! We went on Easter weekend and because I had my two kids, I had to sneak in their baskets. I sat right outside the room door to make sure not to wake the kids while I wrestled with the celophane and the next thing I know, I have the manager coming up the stairs asking what room I am in and telling me that I need to go in my room, that I am not allowed to be in the hallway! The hotel was very clean and fit our needs very well. Our stay was very cheap which was very convienent compared to those of other hotels. It was also in a very convenient location close to a near by gas station and pizza hut and located right off the main road, 28th st.

I would recommend this hotel. For the price it was great. Room was comfy and qiet. There was a nice selection for breakfast. My daughter loves to make her own waffles. It was close to Woodland & River town Malls. Staff was VERY courteous.

I was looking for a place to sleep and shower for about 10 hours total so I didn't want to pay a hefty price. However, I'm a clean freak so cleanliness was extremely important to me. I was extremely pleased with the cleanliness, sleep comfort (pillow top bed), and a decent Continental breakfast (waffle maker) with the basic other options as well. There was one amenity in my room that was totally over the top for the price I paid -- a little bag with all kinds of goodies (cough drops, deodorant, nasal strips (2!) and a few other suprises as well). I recently had a business trip to the area. Located just minutes from Grand Rapids, it was a perfect location and nice place.

This motel was convenient to the freeway and close to Metro Hospital where my son was a patient. It also included breakfast and was a fair price for the convenience of the location.

cheap, 10 mn from downtown, good place to stay for one night. Convenient, Clean, Comfortable Bed. Good for a one-night stay.

You get what you pay for, and I didn't want to pay a ton and so I didn't. I have no complaints, the room was nice, sheets were clean, there was a balcony (didn't use), and there was a free breakfast in the morning (didn't attend, but still). No problems whatsoever; not a 5 star hotel, but not a crappy one either.

The room was clean. The breakfast was disappointing, food was gone by the time I came to eat at 8:00 am. However, that is not that big of a deal given the price which was very reasonable. I have to add though that the water was lukewarm at best. When I took my shower I had the dial all the way to hot and it was lukewarm.

The front desk people were very nice, and the indoor pool is small but was a nice way to relax after a long day of driving. Small issues with the room. Biggest one was the iron- it's bungee corded to the ironing board, which was not very stable, and fell off when I was using it- good thing I have fast feet! When I booked this hotel I was looking for something cheap. I was in town for a concert and only needed to sleep there. I am going to be honest, when I first booked this hotel I was a little apprehensive because of the cheaper price. I was pleasantly suprised. The staff was friendly and our room was clean. My only complaint was that the hallway smelled like old cigarettes, but the room did not. The Pool was out of order-which was very disappointing, because we had a few teenagers that were planning on using it. The Hotel would not do anything about the price because we did not book thru the Hotel direct we used a travel web site to book- which did not state the pool was closed. The staff was very rude. Housekeeping knocked on my door at 8am, had a late check out of 2 pm. Paid for late check out, staff forced me out at 12.

Had a waffle maker and it worked very well (other places I have stayed couldn't cook one fully done). Nothing spectacular about the rooms, but if you are paying this price you shouldn't be expecting more. The room was clean and the staff was very nice to our two children and gave them each a "Sleepy Bear" stuffed toy.

The hotel was great the cleanest i have seen in a very long time and great rates enough parking indoor swimming pool and very close to restaurants, stores ect.

Picked a budget friendly motel. You get what you pay for. Breakfast was included but had to go and spend more $ elsewhere because breakfast at Travelodge consisted of 2 sugary cereals and donuts. We had to make our way through a hallway full of cigarette smoke to get to our room. A dog was barking in a room nearby. Housekeeping did a good job with what they had to work with. This place would probably better tolerated by smokers. For the amount I payed I was grossed out. The room had a musty smell. The comforter was gross left that on the ground. The table and chairs were close to being broke. I've stayed in Motel 6 that were is better shape for much less.

It was clean, it was about as expected as we have used them before in other towns. You know it is what it is. My big problem was the wi-fi did not cover the complete hotel. Travelodge was a place that I trusted before and this time it literally saved my trip. It was in a convenient area close to where the people i was visiting lived, and close to much of Grand Rapids business area yet hidden making it a quiet place. The clergy's-all 4 of them that helped me at one point or another- were great, friendly and they certainly made my stay a pleasant one. I had chosen to stay at a cheaper place trying to save some money on my 3 day stay. Turns out i got exactly what I paid for; small room, dirty carpet, and to top it off a low FULL size bed. That's not at all what I had requested, but i decided to stay, about 2 hours into my stay I saw a cockroach. DISGUSTING!! that was the last straw, it must've been about 11pm when i decided to leave that place. Travelodge saved the disaster my trip was becoming. would love to see a microwave for conveinence of eating without spending lots of money on food being delivered or going out. Other than that we had a very comfortable stay. I spend lots of money throughout the year for hotel stays with my children and loved the location easy access to bus routes and shopping.

The Travel Lodge in Grand Rapids on 28th Street was run down, there ws only one person at the reception desk trying to take reservations, assign rooms, talk on the phone. The WiFi system worked sporadically...sometimes I could connect and other times I could not. The breakfast provided by the motel was quite good although limited. This hotel room is exactly what I needed. It had a comfortable bed, bathroom and shower. I was in Grand Rapids on business and needed a basic room near where my business would be taking place, and this hotel was practically in walking distance. It was also very close to several express ways so it was easy to get there and back on the road home at the […] end of my stay. Again, the bed was comfy, and the table and chairs were great when I had to get some work done on my own. The bathroom was pretty standard, with plenty of towels considering I had a one bed room, with soap and shampoo. There was definitely some discoloration happening in the corners of the walls and ceiling, but nothing major. You'd only really see it if you look for it. The TV wasn't huge, which was good because I didn't want distractions, but it had all my favorite channels plus HBO and HBO2. I was surprised to see a small fridge in the room, as well as a mini coffee maker. Other pluses are a little indoor pool, and breakfast with bagels, muffins, make-your-own-waffles included among the spread. The place isn't located in the nicest part of town, so don't be surprised if you see some shady characters, but it is set back from the main road so it doesn't attract much attention. Don't go to the Chinese restaurant near it, the place is horrible! I had lunch at the place where I was working, and for dinner I usually drove around to find something, except for one trip to that horrible Chinese place, and one night I just ordered something from a local pizza joint. My one complaint is that one day when I got back to my room I found that they took my already open soaps and shampoos, but didn't put in new ones. I have no problem using the stuff till its out, but if it is taken before then I'd like it replenished. I went to the front desk with the complaint, and the lady apologized and gave me replacements. Great location for access to 28th street shopping aswell as downtown Grand Rapids. Facilities are clean, pool, fitness center, fridge and microwave in the room, adequate continental breakfast. I've stayed here more than once and would highly recommend it as a "central" Grand Rapids location. Travelodge was exactly what I was looking for when staying in Grand Rapids. Close to a main thoroughfare into downtown to go to bars and restaurants. The staff was nice, the hotel was clean, the queen bed was a standard hotel bed. I would stay here again if I got back to Grand Rapids

If I'm budget tight again and in the Grand Rapids area I would stay here again. The employees were friendly, but if something goes wrong don't really expect them to help you out. We stayed there two days. First, the room service never came to our room. When we called on it at 11:00 pm (we left at 10 am and didn't come back until 11 pm) and the girl […] at the desk said she'd make sure we got some sort of partial refund because of it. When I check on it the day of check out we were not given it because we booked the hotel room on this website. I tried saying that shouldn't really matter how it was booked, they never did the basic hotel services. We had to make our own bed and carry all our old towels to the front desk to get new ones. They didn't care. The other thing is if you are going to have more than 2 people in a room good luck with having enough towels. We tried to get more than the 4 bath towels given to us because I promised one of the fellow bridesmaids she could shower at our room. The hotel refused to give us more towels unless we delivered the dirty ones downstairs to the lobby. Apparently, people have been stealing towels from them so they won't give you extras??? I get the theft issue, trust me I do. I told the front desk that we had 4 already, and to go ahead and mark that we have a few more. I'll physically deliver all the dirty ones to the front desk at the end of the day so they can see we are returning all of them. They refused. All in all, this is a budget hotel and I get that.
