Crowne Plaza Houston River Oaks - ฮูสตัน

This hotel is badly in need of new carpets and an air purifier. Musty odors, cigarette smoke and a chemical smell permeated the place. The central location, and some friendly staff who provided great service was a plus.

The room was clean and tidy. The bathroom was nicer than some of the 5 star hotels'. I liked that they gave us the choice to valet park or self park. Overall a great stay.

Upon arrival the valet didn't have a luggage cart. Our luggage was actually placed out in the driveway and we were told it would be brought to us. I went to check in an hour after check-in time and we waited half an hour before a room was ready for us. We looked outside and our luggage was still out in the middle of the driveway. Finally we got a room […] only to find that the hot water didn't work in the shower. A maintenance man came up and replaced the faucet and we finally had hot water. The manager offered to comp my parking and give me a free breakfast. That's it. The bed sheets felt like I was trying to sleep in a heavy starched dress shirt. Too rough and hard. They shoud try some fabric softner. The towel felt as if they were sand paper.

Would not return back to this hotel. The rooms and hallways smell like a nursing home. The decor feels very early 80s. The parking and garage are badly managed/in disrepair. The service staff was non-responsive when the room I reserved and prepaid for was not available.

I was in town for one night to attend a concert at the Toyota Center. The hotel was close to the arena yet far enough away from the crowds. The hotel was also a short drive to the Galleria Mall. I was disappointed with this hotel. The room was dim, the bathroom had a bulb burned out, the carpet was old, the toilet ran after flushing, the shower had low water pressure and when put to a certain temp, would make a knocking noise. I heard water running all night, I thought it had rained outside, but that was not the case. The internet was poor. […] I connected and downloaded email, then was unable to use it for almost an hour. When it recovered, the bandwidth was 0.17MB/sec (should be over 3 at least). The same thing happened in the morning. The ribs in the hotel restaurant were greasy (not good for Texas). On the bright side the lobby and restaurant were nice. But that's not what you want out of a hotel. Not up to the Crowne Plaza levels. It was GREAT! Rooms were clean, actually the Hotel itself was very clean. Perfect location for shopping the Galleria and or visiting Lakewood Church .Shuttle service was a plus.

The hotel was old and has aged poorly, The check in staff was not the best basically twenty something boys with oversize suites on. The parking fee was stupid no one should have to pay to park plus pay for the hotel rude. Bed was not made when we got to our room, which left a bad impression. Otherwise the hotel was good. It is a bit hard to find the hotel as the address is on a freeway. The hotel is on the feeder road to the freeway.

Peeling wallpaper, dirty carpeting, pipes wrapped with packing material, brown water that was curtly explained by a changed pipe, mediocre food. On a brighter note, the water improved and most of the staff were nice.

We were running the Houston Marathon and stayed one night. They were very accommodating and allowed us late check-out so that we could come back and shower after the race. The room was very nice, including a fridge and microwave. I would definitely stay here again.

T.V. channels did not work. The room was comfortable, large and well equipped. There was no noise in the hallways. The beds were comfortable and linens were ample. It was agravating because the next morning at check out I again asked about the channels that were off. Crowne Plaza is reasonably priced and well located. Room service food is better than average; parking rates are good value; staff is courteous. Initial request for room away from elevators was not honored. Room was near both elevator and vending. However, request to change was graciously and speedily handled and was an apparent upgrade. Lovely hotel, but it is mandatory to pay $8 a night to self park your car in their parking garage and valet is $13 I believe. All-in-all it is a nice place and I will stay there again.

Firstly, upon coming to the hotel I was not impressed with the staff, their willingness to help and attitude left me with a bad vibe. Next, upon coming to the room we realized that there were cleanliness issues, a nice gaping hole where pipes came into the room, and the bed was horrendously uncomfortable (mind you I've stayed at Two-Star hotels with […] better beds than this one). I'm not one to complain but this could not be ignored. For the price of the hotel, I feel the amenities and over all quality of service lacked greatly. Hotels.com should have this set at a Two-Star hotel to give customers a realistic expectation (I realize they are not responsible, Just making my point clear). They also charge for parking, which I can understand if you were in downtown. The Magnolia does not even charge as much as them and they ARE downtown. I leave you with this last bit on Quality of Service: Upon checking out of the hotel, I was charged the wrong amount for the parking. The correct amount for the charge was on the receipt... but in reality, I was charged one hundred dollars over and when I finally arrived safely to my home, I checked my balance to see this atrocity being processed. Oh yes, simple human error... but, to make things worse, they could not help me one bit until the following Monday since their accountant was no longer there for the day. The lobby was very nice, but the room looked like it was old and needed updating. I was in a handicapped room and they claimed that they did not have another room to put me in. So, it was inconvenient as I had not bathroom counter to put my toiletries on. There was a small table in the bathroom so I used that, but it was definitely more inconvenient. […] For the price point, I wouldn't choose to stay here again. I can't say it was a bad experience, just not a great one. Also, the check in process took a lot longer than most hotels I go to. I am a fairly frequent business traveler. Checked in with my wife and 16 month old daughter. Staff very helfull with our daughter and enjoyed keeping her amused in the lobby. Room keys didn't work. Had to call maintenance to get in. TV wouldn't come on. Previous occupants messed with remote, and obviously staff didn't check before we got there. WiFi didn't work, and desk clerk was indifferent about helping me get connection. Glad I didn't pay full price for this hotel room.

Very nice hotel located in River Oaks area right on top of the 59 heading toward Galleria. The staff was attentive. At check-in, we voiced our concerns about hearing freeway noise on the 8th floor, the highest room available, so they gave us a room on the backside and it was very quiet. Thermostat was set up to 78 - 80 degrees, yes even when it was sort of cool outside, i couldnt set the thing lower. I had pre paid the breakfast and they forgot to give me the breakfast tickets when I checked in. The room was ok.
