The staff was great but I didn't like my room as much as previous rooms I have stayed in here. Also, the room rate was 63% higher than it was 12 months ago and the room was smaller and not as nice.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our weekend stay. The hotel being so close to lots of restauraunts, bars, and kits of shopping was very convenient. We literally within a two minute walk to the mall and bars. The freeway was also only a 4-5 minute drive which made it very easy to get to Downtown area of Grand Rapids.

This hotel was relatively nice, but the staff that accompanied it was awufal. After first night of stay we left the room around 9 am for the day's activities and when we returned at 3 pm to come back and relax the houskeeping hadn't even reached are room until about a half hour later, asking if we wanted them to come in and clean the room. Had a great studio room. Very cozy. I loved it.

We loved the two bedroom.One of the bedroom was upstaires.Loft.Very clean rooms.Kitchen was very nice.Living room had a fire place.Never heard our neighbors.Will be back

It was located near 28th right near most of the shopping places. The bed was like a rock, didn't sleep very well. The electrical outlets were loose and needed to be replaced.

All of the reviews, ratings, etc. . . come from when this was a Residence Inn. It obviously was sold, lost their license, etc.. for it's now something different. I'll let "different" alone, but if you're a seasoned traveler, you'll know what I mean. It ain't a Residence Inn anymore.

I loved staying here...wish it could have been for more than 2 nights. The layout of the suite was ideal, and having a kitchen was a bonus. The upstairs neighbors were obnoxious, but when I called the front desk, it was taken care of immediately. Parking could be better--but that's really nitpicking!

I was at this hotel for business but found it very convenient and easy to find from the airport. There was shopping and places to eat very close, some within walking distance. They do offer an evening social which I hoped would had more options for food and drink. The breakfast had minimal to offer but was sufficient for myself. Overall, I would stay […] at this hotel again. The rooms were very spacious. It was nice to have a room unlike the standard hotel and more like an apartment complex. Hotel was a previous Residence Inn- Letting it go with up keep. Needs paint and some attention

The hotel is right of 28th street and right next to a mall. For the money, it was well worth it! The 2 bedroom had plenty of space and everyone was friendly. The only thing that was lagging was the breakfast. Not a lot of selection.

Good value for the cost.

Great room! Combined living and sleeping with large bath and fully equipped kitchen. GREAT breakfast included. Employees helpful and friendly.

During a house construction project, I needed to stay at a local motel/hotel for a week. Gatehouse Suites was cheap and had good online service/cleanliness ratings. When I entered my room, I was surprised at how nice it was. Not that it was amazing, but for the price, I'd expected a lot worse. The decor was a bit outdated, but not to the point of distraction. […] Everything looked crisp and clean. Everything worked how it was supposed to. The room was relatively spacious. And I got a lot more kitchen than I expected, which was great, and I did more cooking in-room because of it. Decent enough wireless internet. The suites appear to be a re-purposed old apartment complex (which explains the full kitchen) I had to extend my stay by a day, and they courteously took care of it and even let me have my original rate. One day my key-card stopped working. I was in the front-most building, so the office was a one-minute walk away, and they remedied the situation immediately. I didn't eat any meals in their cafeteria area, but they did serve breakfast every morning, and it looked... decent? On par with what I'd expect from an inexpensive hotel. Eggs and such in chafing dishes, waffles, dry cereal, etc. Location is okay if your destinations are on that side of town. Distance to any major highway is annoying, but I knew that going in. On a smaller scale, they're in an odd spot; sandwiched between a strip-mall, a mall-mall, a liquor store, and busy street. But none of that really affected the quality of my stay. Noise from the busy street was not an issue. I had polite neighbors, but from what I could hear (footsteps from the floor above; the din of voices, etc.), a noisy neighbor could end up be really annoying. We found the hotel easy to find and near everything we would need...movies, shopping and great eateries. The people at the hotel were friendly and helpful. When we checked into our room #111, the heat did not work. The front desk moved us to the adjacent room #112, heat worked fine.

The hotel was convenient location to shopping, restaurants, and the WMU Beltline campus. It was comfortable and clean. The front desk called me when I entered the room to check to make sure everything was suitable, which I thought was very considerate. The room was a little drafty due to the patio door and fireplace but overall great stay.

Furnace fan was extremely loud. Came on every 20 min and we did not sleep well.

Upon Checking into our room we found garbage under the sinks. The room smelled of cigerette smoke (no smoking) with cigeretts butts outside the room. They changed our room, only to find out at 11:30 pm we had not heat, the furnace was broken. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Alway a warm and friendly greeting at the front desk and easy check in. Stayed here at least 4 different times and enjoyed each and every stay. Actually got to enjoy the complimentary breakfast on our last stay, What a bonus!

I was morethan pleased with the Gatehouse. It was a bargan and although the heat register definitely needed dusting, it did not detract from the facility. Staff more than gracious and would have come in immediately to clean the grate, but I was leaving, so no problem, especially as my own house needs the same attention.

Large rooms, fully equipped for long stays. Although on the outskirts of the city center, it was very close to the highway. Limited services due to the holiday weekend, but it was not much of an issue.

The room was awesome, plenty of space, it was like a small apartment rather than a hotel. However, the bed was absolutely horrid! It was the hardest most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on! All in all, it was a nice stay, but if bed comfort is key, you might want to look elsewhere.

the room in the suite was very spacis and nicely equipt and even had a fireplace.

Very freindly respectful and helpful staff! Would recommend highly after 2 separate stays now.

This used to be a Residence Inn, with spacious loft-style long-term accommodations, but it's taken a turn for the worse. Our bed was awful, barely enough padding to cover the hard metal springs, and the hot water lasted for only a few minutes during each of our showers. The 'suite' part of this hotel is also misrepresented now in my opinion. Yes, there's […] a kitchen but the sitting and sleeping areas are part of one long single room, i.e., there's no privacy and no way to share the space. The food-service-quality breakfast was nothing special. So the pros - free wifi, the cleanliness, the decently appointed bathroom, full kitchen, the better-than-average location - did not equal out. We had made a reservation for three nights but after one we switched to another hotel. I will say that, despite the holiday manager's rather icy politeness in response to our comments, we were offered another room (we opted not to take it because the bed was just as bad) and in the end, Gatehouse refunded all three nights instead of just the one night promised by the company cancellation policy. Impressive! Most 'suites' are just crowded rooms. This is a true suite and suitable for extended stay. Computer and kitchen amenities, privacy and a great price.

This is so convenient for us to stay. Close to restaurants and the shuttle service to airport and back was great. The fact that you can leave your car there is a definiate plus. it is in the middle of everything yet very quiet and secluded. Would highly recommend

This is one of the nicest hotels I have EVER stayed in and I am including more upscale hotels in this statement! The room was beautiful, the furnishings and cleanliness was impeccable and the front-desk staff was helpful and very nice! Our room had a fireplace and it was really awesome to sit in front of the fire each evening. My only complaint was […] that the bed was not very comfortable and in the winter time in Michigan they could have a comforter or quilt on the bed to make it warmer. Nice room with full kitchen--full stove, fridge, etc, which I didn't use for one night. Bathroom is a little worn out, but linens were clean. Furniture has seen some better days, but not as bad as I've seen. All the rooms open to the outside; the hotel looks like an apartment complex from the street. Suites are very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, typical continental. Location was ideal, in the middle of everything, but with the fencing, you felt secluded. I would highly recommend this hotel.

It would be all 5's if the extremely loud people above us would have stayed somewhere else.
