One of the hotel features was their shuttle was available to take guests to nearby areas, but the shuttle was never available when we asked. We were always told that it was at the airport picking up new guests, but there were 3 shuttle vans sitting in the parking lot. The front desk person, Amber, was not very friendly or helpful. We asked her to call […] for a taxi an hour before we needed it. We were waiting for over 20 minutes past the designated time and the taxi was late. When we asked her to follow up she said "I called". And that was it. Finally, the shuttle van driver, who was standing at the front desk, picked up the phone and called a second taxi service which showed up 5 minutes later. The hotel is located beside the Town Lake, otherwise known as Lady Bird Lake. It is a very pleasant walk to downtown along the lakeshore path. Location: Walk out of the back of the hotel and onto the bike/running trail along Towne Lake/Lady Bird Lake/Lake Austin. By far the best attribute of this hotel. Also, easy to get to from I-35 and easy to get downtown though likely too far to walk for most people. Value: Since you are on the north side of the lake, close to downtown and parking/wifi is included in the rate, we found this hotel to be a great value which is second most important in my opinion. We did not really ask for anything from the staff, but felt they would have handled any request brought forth. Cleaning lady also did a great job. Condition: I think the first two certainly helped us enjoy our trip, but the condition is honestly subpar for a Holiday Inn. One of the elevators seemed in need of maintenance (strange noises, jerky, burnt ceiling grid, missing transition piece on floor, etc. and the public restrooms were not incredibly clean. By far the most troubling though was the dampness in our room. Walking with no shoes in the room was uncomfortable and it did feel as though clothes that were left out in the room while running around the city would be damp when we arrived in the evening. To be fair, we did not feel it was so bad to complain about, but others might. The temperature in the room was also comfortable for the duration of our stay. In summary, if you plan to be out of the hotel experiencing Austin during your trip, I highly suggest staying here due to its location and value. Way overpriced in comparison to alternatives. Old, parking garage extremely inconvenient, dark, noisy at night due to freeway, clientele rather weak.

The hotel itself badly needs to be renovated and updated. I do have a couple of nice things to say about this place before I completely rip it apart. The staff was super friendly when we checked in and it is the starting point for the segway tour which was awesome! As for the rest of this review, I hate to say this about any business but this hotel was a dump. The carpet was dirty and falling apart (you could see the floor underneath it in our room), there were holes in the doors, the hot water came out yellow and was barely warm, the towels were like sandpaper (although good for exfoliating) and the bathroom smelled like urine. Our room faced the highway so it was loud, there was broken glass all over the ledge of our window and a huge gauge in the window that looked like a bb hole or large rock from the highway hit it. Way overpriced for what you get! Had we not been so exhausted when we got there (traveling with 2 kids - one infant) we would have complained and tried to move to another hotel but it was just too much effort. The personell were nice and tried to help as far as the hot water issue, which was not resolved and unfortunately this is completely unacceptable to me. Also the internet is a joke, it barely works and is too slow to get anything done. The only thing they earn stars for is service, the people are ok by me.

This hotel was much better than other reviews would lead you to believe. One of my concerns with this being an older hotel was that the room would have an odor. But, the room DID NOT have an odor. Parking was convenient with the parking garage that has high def cameras according to the sign. If you have a car, parking is free which is uncommon with downtown hotels. If you don't have a car it is a bit of walk from down town, but there are plenty of cabs. Clean room, great view, perfect location. Enjoyed the easy access to town lake, and to all that Austin has to offer. Very easy to get to off of I-35.

Very pleasant stay .... reasonably priced ... comfortable room ... great view .... lengthy, heated pool ... friendly accomodating staff ... conveniently located. Not the Taj MahaI, but I definitely will return.

I had several issues with the card access not working either the card or the door lock were not working properly. I had to call the front desk more than four times with no options offered.

I only recommend this hotel if you will have a car to drive! it is close to a highway and not convenient for walk at night. The view of some of the rooms, facing the river is amazing. And the overall quality of the hotel is pretty good.

Excellent hotel. Ask for a room with a lake view, the sunset is amazing. Very clean, great service.

this was my first time in Austin, Tx. I was a little concern about the Hotel and the location. Beacus I was travling with my daughter. The hotel provided us with airport shuttle service, pus service to the convention center. There were on time each day w used the free service. The hotel was very confortable and clean the people working behind the front […] desk were very friendly. We only ate in the resturant one time for breakfast and it as not the best. But the people were very kind. The neighbor was safe as I walk to a local eatery in the area. We did have a problem with the air condition and the front desk sent someone up right away to fix it. The maintanice man was very friendly and explain to us that the person before us had the heat on. It did not take long for him to turn the air condition on and cool our room. Would I stay at this hotel again, Yes , we had a great expeience coming from two people who usually stay in the Ritz or Four Season. Why did we not stay there @ the four season , because it was book. The hotel is old, rooms are small. Not worth the price! Look elsewhere. The picture to advertise it is tricky. No view to any lake by any means.

We had a good stay and would definately recommend this hotel. The check in process was smooth and easy with friendly and courtesy staff. The beds are amazingly comfortable! The food in the restaurant was good...a bit pricey for breakfast, but I guess you expect to pay a bit more for convenience. The staff (including maintenance and custodial) get a 6 out of 5 stars. Very friendly and helpful! The room probably a 3 out of 5. Older looking room (tube television) and the shower was difficult to manage (believe it or not!). I was very disappointed with this room. The room was poorly designed. No entrance light when you enter the room. There were no drawers to put your clothes in- just 3 small drawers in the storage cabinet which holds the TV. You had to keep your suitcase on the floor, there was no where to hold your suitcases.The door to the bathroom closes up against […] the toilet, so it made difficult to enter and exit the bathroom. There was only 1 light switch which controlled the bathroom light and the light outside the bathroom. We stayed there for two nights with our two kids. They gave us a very small room that we barely could move around and we we asked to change the room, guess what? The hotel was full. The next day we moved to a bigger room which was cleaner. The small room was oval shape, old, with dirty carpet. If you are a light sleeper (like me) make sure you book a "premium" or "Lakeside" room. I didn't know this, so it was my fault. I really liked the shuttle service to/from the airport and to the Convention Center. If you are attending an event at the Convention Center, it is a 20 minute walk away. Comfortable and convenient, but low on customer service: internet out all week, water off for a day with no word to guests, air conditioning off and needing to be reset but not done until we complained, and the world's slowest elevators.

Nice staff and clean room, but AC did not work in room and the elevators and hallways were sweltering.

We checked in to the hotel and everything was in order. We are around 23-27 and it was a perfect place to stay if you wanna party at 6th street. Prices are good and not too overpriced. Tried the room service and was satisfied with the chicken sandwich I had. We had friends on a different floor and we went to go visit Saturday night, Sunday morning they […] left early and did not realize our phones were in their room. We called front desk and explained the situation. They were very helpful. Housekeeping had already cleaned the room and turned in the phones!! We had an amazing weekend and plan on going back soon! Beautiful location along Lady Bird Lake!

Third time's good enough... The first room had half-eaten birthday cake and chili's leftovers in the mini-fridge, the second room was missing the hair dryer, and then had a neighbor's TV suddenly come on at 130am on FULL Volume which could be plainly heard through the inter-room door. Great location, close to nearby attractions and activities. The staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Although the hotel is convenient to downtown. I have several complaints. The condition of the hotel, primarily the upstairs hallways and rooms was not good. The carpet in the hallways was very dirty. I paid for a Lake View room, and received a room with the view of the back of a building, where I had to press my face against the glass to see the lake. A very convient location and the hotel had everything we needed. A pool and was across the street from the trail. We could get meals at any time either in the restaurant or the lounge. Convient to the airport and downtown. The staff was very accommodating when we had to extend our stay.

The hotel staff was great, from the front desk staff to the maid to the bartender. The hotel shuttle was at the hotel within 15 minutes of me calling the hotel when I got to the airport. I enjoyed my stay here at the Holiday Inn. The surrounding area is really nice. You are right on the lake and near the other hotels, sixth street, and west congress. The bar is pretty well stocked with nice bartenders. Didn't get a chance to check out the food. Fitness center and pool are both decent and have a great view of the lake from the sixth […] floor. The hallway of the first room we were given had a horrible smell and there were dirty food trays left in front of some of the rooms. There was dirty linen left hanging out of a bin in the hallway. The room had red stains on the carpet that looked like blood.

The lobby of the Holiday Inn Austin Town Lake appeared to be clean, but the maintenance ended there. The hotel is old but was clean, friendly and very convenient to all of downtown area especially town lake. My claustrophobia kicked in as soon as I got off the elevator as the hall was narrow and the ceilings low. The room seemed very compact but clean. There was no view of any type from my room. This hotel does offer the convenience being close to 6th Street 2 miles, but not worth the money. If you want the shuttle to take you there, sorry they don’t offer that. The rooms were outdated; staff was too busy to bother with customer service. All in all not in standing with the new image Holliday Inn is trying to convey. Don’t be fooled

This hotel was clean and organized. The staff was extremely attentive to the needs of the people staying at their hotel. They were more than happy to shuttle people to the conference I attended. They also offered shuttle service to the airport. The room was clean and offered free wireless, a microwave and refrigerator. This made my stay very pleasant […] and I was able to do my work in my room. There were a lot of other restaurants nearby and the convention center was close by with a shuttle. The staff kept my suitcases at the hotel locked in a room after I checked out so I could go to the conference without my luggage. Our first experience was for wedding guests. Now we stay at this hotel each visit to Austin. It is clean and comfortable. Beds are firm enough for our tender backs. Highly recommended.
