The hallway carpets are dirty like anything. The elevators smell. The front desk could not even provide a paper plate and spoon - apparently the three star hotel does not carry paper plates (or real ones for that matter). Overall, nothing was glaringly wrong, but staff seemed to doing the least they could do. Upon check-in, one front desk clerk just left the desk even though the line was two deep. The room's bathroom was very dark, perhaps missing bulbs or by design. We did not spend much time in the hotel. Although the rooms were not luxury, I appreciated things that I haven't had at other fancier hotels. I liked the 42" TV more than I thought I would. I loved the bed...very comfy!! And the location and convenience was such a plus. Went with my kid to a show at the Orbit room, it was so nice to be close to the venue...close to the mall and close to Krispy […] Kreme! The hotel is located in a great location,lots of reasturants,movie theater,shopping. It ws a very nice stay,clean,comfortable rooms,lots of pillows,bed was very nice. I needed to use a printer,and everyone went out of their way to help,when it was out of paper.I will stay there again!!

Quality and convenience. Excellent bedding and beds, helpful and friendly staff and not ONE problem. Loved the resturaunt Old Chicago connected to the hotel and next time we will be sure to enjoy the pool area with water slide. You will be satisfied with this choice for a stay.

Our business stay here went well- we were given a larger room; beds were exceptionally comfortable; needs more outlets around mirrors in rooms; tubs need to be resurfaced and retiled but granite counter tops are good. Excellent location in Grand Rapids, MI for access to everything without being downtown.

Key draw to the hotel - the large spiral water slide! Note - only functions at certain hours of the day (more evening than anything). Also, note, no one under 18 allowed in the hot tub (felt like 12 and above should have been allowed...) Shopping and restaurants were within walking distance, and a shuttle to the show. What more could you ask for? The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this spot to friends.

Arrived at hotel on a Thursday night and the staff at the front desk was very unfriendly. When checking in we asked for a different room on a higher floor and the staffer seemed put out because we were asking for something. The next morning when we left for the day, we stopped at the front desk and asked them to make up our room while we were gone. […] When we arrived back at the hotel later that evening the room had not been made up. When we called down to get clean towels we were met with an attitude and the response was yah, we will send some up...Poor service and the breakfast fell way short of any expectations!! Nice, clean and updated decor. The breakfast however, is not complimentary and the charge is outrageous for the selection that is offered. Suggest dining out if you stay at this hotel.

Well, it was a nice hotel, but I was a little bummed when I walked in and said I was the guest of the day (I am one of those people that never win anything) and upon checking in there was this cute little bag with a nice little letter in there stating that I was upgraded to a deluxe suite and would have amenities waiting in the room for me...etc. I […] asked after entering the room why, and she said they were really busy, etc. So, why would you even give me that letter if you know that? the water slide was what brought our business, OH, did they mention it's only running on weekends? nope. thanks. talk of jets in every bath tub? total lie. trash under our bed and night stands discovered when we canvassed the room for anything we may have forgotten - ew. The room was fine but the televisions were old and obsolete. The bathtub was dirty. The beds were comfortable, pillows were small and bad.

I do not rate the same as most so yo will probably want to take that into consideration when reading this. In general, three star hotels on this site would get two stars in my estimation. The Ramada is a fine chain with varying results nationwide. THis one is in the middle of bustling corporate heaven (or hell, depending upon your perview). Older hotels have taken to dressing themselves up which I liken to lipstick on a pig, and that is exactly what you get here. Plain wrapper rooms suddenly have "upscale" treatments, but are still average rooms optimistically posing as high end. They are not. But they are fine in truly two star fashion. If I see one more bent shower curtain or "chiclet" pillow stack, I am going to scream. No free breakfast, but an assortment of pay options. It was a good hotel, location was great close to where I wanted to go. Also lots of things to do around the hotel, restaurants and shopping are close to the hotel.

Decent hotel. Relatively inexpensive. Close to everything in GR. We stay here nearly everytime We visit GR.

Overall this hotel adequately met our needs even though it was not in the location we preferred. The entire hotel inside was in good maintenance and the room was clean and in good order (although the bathroom was missing a waste basket); the king size bed was heaven-sent! The parking lot and canopy drive-up entrance made me wonder what kind of place […] had we selected as they were in deplorable shape. Note to management: repave the parking lot! The in-door water park was packed with people, but it was a hot summer night! I felt the rate we paid was about 15-20% too high, even though we were last minute customers. Wanted a hotel with a pool for children. Pool was small but had a slide. Problem was there were only 4 passes per room for the pool, had to buy passes for any child over 6 mts, even if they were not going to use the slide.

Great quality for the price, near the airport, and the Chicago Grill Restaurant conveniently attached to the hotel has great food. Both the hotel and restaurant have great service.

This was a nice hotel to stay at. Only two things I can say bad about it is that they make the water park seem more than it is. It is a nice with a really fun water slide.... but a huge indoor water park like I thought when I booked. The other thing is that the water park has a hot tub there that is nice, but they don't allow anyone under the age of […] 17 use it, so my 12 yr old daughter was disappointed when they told her she couldn't get in there with me. Nice hotel with great location. You can tell it is not the newest build, however the hotel is certainly not ran down by any means. The nicest staff! I would definitely stay again.

This hotel needs to be renovated---everything looks outdated and tired, from the lobby to the elevators to the hallways. Desk clerk had trouble answering my questions at check-in, and when I expressed surprise at having to approve a $1 charge on my credit card in case I wanted to order a movie, the manager got a tad defensive. Poorly lit bathroom, some […] disintegrating wallpaper by our windows and bedspreads that were downright ratty. I discovered I had a malfunctioning TV remote and couldn't access pay-per-view. Friendly staff, clean room, good price. 15 Minutes from Downtown but in a good area close to just about every chain restaurant imaginable and a couple malls. One complaint I have is the 10pm-11pm adults only pool rule doesn't seem to be enforced.

Room was small, not much space for luggage. Beds comfortable. Not much bathroom space or counter space.

This hotel was perfect for what we needed it for, two rooms (1) for parents the 2nd for our 19 yo daughter & 17 yo son. Very close to shopping malls & restaurants. Frederik Meijer Sculpture Garden was only 5 or 6 miles away so we took a trip there, it was wonderful. The hotel was very good and clean... the only reason I gave it a 3 for comfort is because they put me in a handicap room. I only stayed here on night and only figured out as I was walking out that it was a handicap room. If I would have stayed any longer, I would have said something. Could use some updating and better maintenance, but not as bad as some reviewers posted. Solved the mystery of the "closed" water slide others posted...a very big family in the pool refused to follow the slide rules so they shut it off. It's sad that so-called adults ruin the fun for everyone by behaving badly. They had babies on the slide, toddlers […] in the hot tub, and were generally rude and disrespectful to the young lady on duty at the pool. We had good experiences w/staff and no problems - it's just a little shabby for the money. We were given a handicapped room. My husband is 6'2". This was not good. We only stayed because it was only one night.

After reading all the other reviews, this seemed like a great choice for us. However, once we arrived, I regretted staying here. Our room overlooked the indoor pool which was really loud. We're not early risers and being woken up at 8am to screams of "marco, polo!" was not appreciated. The walls were otherwise paper thin. A guy was on his cell phone […] in the hallway in the middle of the night which also woke us. We should have asked for a new room that didn't face the pool. The beds were not at all comfortable and overall the rooms just weren't that nice. I primarily booked this because of the pool but the area for smaller children was very small and always packed. We stayed at the Ramada as an intown vacation. Our kids are 9 and 6 years of age and the pool and slide where the main atttraction-we enjoyed them immensly. The hotel could be nice if the staff was on the ball with the details. The toilet seat in our room was nearly unbolted. The bathroom door handle screws were 1/4 of an inch loose.
